You have never understood that Russia's problems are caused by Russians. Obviously, there will be external problems, but the Russian response to such problems has been, shall we say, suboptimal which is why Russia is poor compared to the EU. It is also why North Korea, Russia's protege, is poor compared to South Korea, America's protege. A quick check of recent news shows that South Korea is being militarily threatened by North Korea which follows Russia's habitual ways of confronting its problems by threatening the neighbors.
