I've always say it was a protest that SOME people turned into a riot.

But a "coup" attempt?
Without widely distributed guns; a plan to secure the capitol, police forces, and media; and an organization ready to take over the government?

You're still abyssmally stupid. When will you start using whatever neurons you have?

"peacefully assemble?" No, violence with intent. Do I have to show the violence some of the Jan 6 Trump mob committed inside the capital?

Same answer as to THUGR, in detail:

Number of people attending; estimated at as much as 120,000
Number of people who entered the capitol bldg (including those who walked in) 800-1,200
Number of people ultimately arrested: approximately 900
Number of people charged with "seditious behavior": 10
Number of people charged with bringing a gun to the capitol: THREE (or five, depending on how you want to count it.)
Number of police with serius injuries: about 50
Number of fires started or buildings burned: zero

Quote:

The most common charge pleaded guilty to: "illegally parading or demonstrating in the Capitol, a misdemeanor"

... many of those sentenced so far were only convicted of illegally entering the Capitol building, and were not involved in the more violent and destructive aspects related to storming the building.

ges-names-2021-1

What the numbers show is that the overwhelming majority (99%) were peacefully protesting, and of those who entered a restriced area, most did so without weapons.
A FEW used weapons adventitiously at-hand: planks, flagpoles, etc and a vanishingly small number brought weapons (eg. hockey stick) with them.
If that's an "insurrection", it's a paltry one.
It best fits the description of a "riot".
The OVERHWELMING MAJORITY were engaged in First Amendment speech.
You can show that "weapons" were involved, which makes it "armed", but don't conflate it with an "insurrection"

More like a protest turned into a riot and then turned into a coup, although a coup was always the design from Trump. There were plenty of weapons, bombs even - crude but deadly.

"But a "coup" attempt?" - uh-huh.

"Without widely distributed guns" - they had them stock piled in VA and locally - read something.

"a plan to secure the capitol" - that wouldn't stop a mob, especially with hostages - zip ties? What were they for??

"police forces" - how do you know? Crazy as fck Mike Flynn's brother was the deputy chief of staff of the Army, and the Army is reporting:
"The Army is now acknowledging that Lt. Gen. Charles Flynn, the brother of President Donald Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn, was in the room for one of the key January 6 phone calls in which DC government and US Capitol Police were asking for National Guard troops to quell the unfolding violence at the US Capitol."

"and media" - They had The Internet. Yanno Twitter, Facebook. Bigger and more focused and more immediate that the "media" I think you're talking about.

A successor to a very dead Putin would not continue Putin's fantasies of becoming Peter the Great. What Russian successor to Putin would be so stupid as to continue a war that makes the Russian army look weak to glorify Putin's reputation in the history books?

Looking weak has happened to Russia twice before when a little country murdered Russian soldiers and then Russia gives up:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuation_War

Ukraine is making Russia look weak a third time. Russia better declare victory, then withdraw, as it did in two wars with Finland. Funny how Finland laid siege to Leningrad, resulting in the deaths of some one million of the city's civilians and Red Army defenders. After that, Russia was scared of Finland. Still is.

"But a "coup" attempt?" - uh-huh.

You see "coup attempts" when there aren't any, but can't see them when they exist (Ukraine 2014, Kazakhstan).
As violent as the Antifa riots were.. and there, rioters assembled night after night specifically to attack federal property and federal officers with Molotov cocktails, fireworks etc, even attempting to burn federal officers alive in their bldg... I wouldn't even label THAT a "coup attempt".

There has to be a concerted attempt to topple the government and replace it. I saw no such plan. Maybe it bc if Trump's failure think things thru and plan properly - a personality defect tied to his ADHD - but where was the plan to secure the police, the official media, the mayorship of DC? In Ukraine you heard Nuland deciding who would be mayor of Kiev (Klitschko) and who would head the interim government. In Kazakhstan one of the first things done was to take over the media offices.

Quote:

CC: "Without widely distributed guns" - they had them stock piled in VA and locally - read something.
How many? You would need HUNDREDS of readily available firearms to create an effective fighting force capable of immediately neutralizing establishment security forces.

People would need to know where they were and be able to lay their hands on them in minutes, not hours. People would need to have assigned sectors to secure. There would HAVE to be some sort of centralized communication. A LOT of people would have to know about it and be ready to act.

Your lack of reality-planning astonishes me.

Quote:

"a plan to secure the capitol" - that wouldn't stop a mob, especially with hostages - zip ties? What were they for??
Again, you would need HUNDREDS of people ready to act in a coordinated manner, not a dozen nutbags rattling around.

You know how I know it wasn't a "coup attempt"? Because there WAS NO PLAN, no collusion, no conspiracy among many significant number of people. Just bc someone show up with zip ties, or a horned helmet, doesn't mean they're ready to take over government. If this was a coup attempt it was less than a half-baked one.

Quote:

CC: "police forces" - how do you know? Crazy as fck Mike Flynn's brother was the deputy chief of staff of the Army, and the Army is reporting:
"The Army is now acknowledging that Lt. Gen. What's your point? A real coup attempt would have been prepared to meet the National Guard. Instead, they weren't prepared for anything, according to SECIND.

Quote:

"and media" - They had The Internet.
yes, but THEY COULDN'T TAKE IT OVER. REAL coup plotters take over channels of communication so the general population depends on them for news and instructions. Not only did they not control the lines of communication, they could be shut down in an instant.

Quote:

CC: Yanno Twitter, Facebook. Bigger and more focused and more immediate that the "media" I think you're talking about.
Blah blah blah. Think thru what a REAL coup takes. Usually it requires the involvement of a disaffected military, spec ops or mercs.

Quote:

"and an organization ready to take over the government?" - uh, Trump? The former president? Who knows what he was thinking, but the who knows what Jim Jones was thinking.

"Trump" is not "the government". Let's say that "they" managed to block vote certification and Trump announced that he won the election and is now President. Then Congress convenes and they impeach Trump. The DC police, with National Guard assistance, fight their way thru whatever ragtag "guard" the uncoordinated masses manage to cobble together and hustles Trump to jail. He is tried and convicted of... sedition? Treason? Trump loses every appeal in front of every judge, including the Supreme Court.

Again, you need to replace a large number of functionaries and, more important, you need the armed force necessary to make it stick.

Reality, dude. Get to know it and embrace it

Trump had just lost all hopes of recounts and law suits and false electors (plus other scams) to get re-elected. There was no time to methodically plan D, let alone what to do after. All there was was desperation and enough whack jobs around and a big enough, angry enough and gullible enough mob to give him hope and do his bidding. It almost worked for a time, but I have little doubt that it would have lasted longer than 48-72 hours. I honestly bet none of them thought they would get as far as they did. Signym, Russia invaded Finland twice to steal their land. Russia lost both wars. Then it was payback time: Finland invades Russia, using the Nazis to murder a million Russians in St. Petersburg. Well, Russians helped by killing and eating each other. Russians certainly have dramatic lives, don't they?

Because of a special police force, the Russians' biggest achievement was stopping being cannibals. Meanwhile, Finland has prospered mightily in the larger, freer world where cannibals aren't allowed. Finland, for five years in a row, has been the happiest country in the world. Russia is not a happy country. Perhaps cannibalism made them bitter and disagreeable?

By the way, South Korea does have an economy bigger than Russia's, probably because Koreans are not lazy and stupid, unlike some countries we know. Korea also didn't prosper by invading and stealing from other countries, unlike some countries we know. Korea didn't rape and pillage its own land, unlike some countries we know.

Oh, dear me: I've said more than once that you want to rewrite history, and- you are!

At the time that "Russia invaded Finland' there was no Finland, only Sweden. In fact, Finland achieved its independence from Sweden BECAUSE of Russia. Russia was afraid of SWEDEN, not Finland, and split Finland from Sweden to weaken Sweden. Finland was never an issue, but- BTW, someone from Finland worked for me for a couple of years - they still resent the Swedes to some extent. Swedish is still a minor language in Finland, a leftover from when they were part of the Swedish kingdom.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independence_of_Finland

Finnish is a strange language. They modify words by adding onto them and they can get VERY long. It's nothing like any of the other European languages, bc it doesn't descend from Latin or German roots.

I was introduced to The Moomins by my colleague. https://www.moomin.com/en/explore/ The Finns have a different outlook than we do and it shows in their cartoons and stories.

Russians aren’t literal cannibals, just yet, but they have turned against each other.

From the Christian Science Monitor: Even loyalists are targets in latest Russian crackdown. Why?

Definitions of “treason” and what brands a citizen as a “foreign agent” have been gradually expanding for several years in Russia. But a recent spate of unusual criminal cases amid the nearly 5-month-old war in Ukraine suggests that the trust that binds the Kremlin with the various elites who actually run the system may be starting to fray.

The cases are all different, and some observers insist that most have nothing to do with the ongoing war. But no one disputes that the number of treason-related prosecutions has jumped fivefold over the past decade as Russia’s geopolitical tensions with the West have exploded, and that some people formerly thought of as “untouchable” have suddenly found themselves behind bars.

While loyalists disagree, government critics speculate that the surge in treason-related cases is a sign that the Kremlin is afraid of losing control, and is looking for enemies to make examples of.

Sergei Markov, a former Putin adviser, argues that the war-related tightening of screws is very real.

“The Kremlin sees the threat from the West as our biggest danger. Even if the situation seems stable now, we have seen that they are out to destroy us. [U.S. President Joe] Biden has said as much,” he says.

“Some unofficial polls show that 70% of state journalists oppose the special operation, even if they seem to be doing their jobs properly right now. The potential for protests is actual; they will happen if the state shows any weakness at all. Putin and his colleagues are former intelligence operatives. They are very suspicious. They see threats emanating from the West and – you know what? – events have often proven them to be right.”

Signym, you might have noticed a theme here: Russia accused of war crimes denies it committed war crimes, saying the Ukrainians did it, not Russia. Ha! Russia accused of killing a plane full of Dutch passengers and denies it shot them down. Ha! Russia attacks Finland, twice, and is beaten by little Finland. Decades later, Russia threatens to nuke Finland if it joins NATO. Finland joins NATO. Ha! The theme? Russians are mentally unbalanced people. It is unsurprising they are some of the unhappiest people on Earth while Finland wins the title of happiest five years in a row. Not surprising, Russians are still afraid of Germany, but Finland is not in the least afraid. Must be that Russia was permanently traumatized by close contact with the Nazis while Finland sailed proudly through WWII with no regrets. ‘We have a new Hitler in Russia’: Pussy Riot’s Maria Alyokhina on Putin’s crimes and her years of resistance

When three of them, including Alyokhina, were arrested for hooliganism in 2012 and sentenced to two years in jail, it didn’t leave much of a mark on Putin’s reputation, even though human rights organisations such as Amnesty International designated them political prisoners. The protest was deadly serious: it was against Orthodox Church leaders’ support for Putin and the blind eye they were turning to his corruption and creeping totalitarianism. Yet the substance of that, and the harsh consequences it had, was ignored in the service of everyone playing nice at international summits.

Alyokhina rolls her eyes, as if to say that is not the half of it: “We were released on 23 December 2013. A month after our release, we made an action [demonstrated]: ‘Putin will teach you how to love the motherland.’ That was at Sochi, the Olympic Games, and that was the first time we were beaten physically. That was the first moment that I understood: Russia was already worse than when we were imprisoned.”

Two weeks later, Putin annexed Crimea – “the first point of no way back”, she says. “Especially shocking was the very weak reaction of the west. There were slight sanctions, but nations continued to deal with Russian businesses. Germany was selling weapons to Putin’s regime, evading the weapon embargo. A lot of capital from oligarchs went to Britain, especially to London. I spoke at the European parliament, in your parliament, in the US Senate. Everyone was ‘deeply concerned’, but nothing happened. In Russian activist circles, there are a lot of jokes about the west being deeply concerned: it means they are not going to do anything.”

If there had been the sanctions there are now after Crimea and the subsequent invasion of the Donbas, Alyokhina is certain that we would not be in this mess today. “We were calling for a full embargo in 2014 and again in 2015. We were doing street actions. I was arrested 100 times. I hear a lot of discussion in the west that it’s very hard and painful to stop buying oil and gas – well, you guys had eight years. In eight years, it would have been possible. In one month, it’s hard. Maybe politicians were afraid of their voters protesting that their houses were cold. Now Ukrainians don’t have houses at all.”

She lays out in brutal terms what this combination of inertia and self-interest has created. “Money from the west is the basis of our imprisonment, of our poisoning, of political murders and, now, of the war in Ukraine. I really want people to understand this and stop it.”

You can trace Putin’s growing sense of impunity through the totalitarian acts he got away with. And it does bear reflection: how did he manage it with so little censure? The marked, even absolute, absence of women in Russian political life has tended to pass without comment, as a historical or cultural quirk. “All this Russian criminal culture, which dates from the Soviet Union, is very misogynistic,” says Alyokhina. “There is no place for women at the decision-making table. No first ladies, no role for women. Even western journalists trying to write about Russian feminism – who do they name? Alexandra Kollontai. She was living in the 1920s.”

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, a known ally of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, warned on Tuesday that there could be a major global conflict on the horizon.

Lukashenko also echoed Putin's criticisms of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, in particular the Russian leader's view of Sweden and Finland's decision to join the alliance.

"Apparently, the newly-minted 'crusaders' of the North Atlantic Alliance suddenly decided that the time is right for another 'Drang nach Osten', forgetting how similar campaigns ended for their historical predecessors," Lukashenko said, alleging that NATO's defensive military exercises are examples of a growing "strike force."

By "Drang nach Osten" — which means "spread to the east" in German — Lukashenko referenced to a term used by Nazi leader Adolf Hitler as part of his plan to acquire Slavic territory for German "living space" and the impetus for Nazi conflict in eastern Europe.

https://www.businessinsider.com/putin-ally-alexander-lukashenko-warns-
big-war-on-the-horizon-2022-7

Lukashenko talked about fighting Nazis in the Second World War and said: "The time has come for the forgetful Europe to give itself a moral cleansing."

"They — all who chose to forget — will have to look again at the grueling evidence of the bloody crimes of their own fathers and grandfathers," he said.

"I must admit that we were delicately silent. In our Slavic way, we believed that children were not responsible for their parents. We still think so."

He did not elaborate on what such a cleansing would entail. (Perhaps the cleansing fire of H-bombs? Putin has outright said he'll nuke the West if NATO troops rescue Ukraine from the Russians. Putin is really mentally stable, isn't he?)

The suspects in the trial are Russians Oleg Pulatov, Igor Girkin and Sergei Dubinsky, and Ukrainian Leonid Kharchenko. Signym, you are a nut, aren't you?

The helpful article, which explains how absolutely crazy Signym and Russians are about denying what happened, is "Russia 'lying' over role in flight MH17 being shot down, say families of 298 victims at murder trial"

Russians and Signym constantly use the Firehose of Falsehoods. Not only do Signym and Russians make up lies with no end, they also say that the truth is a lie. That is an especially hard philosophical knot for the Russians to untie. In stark contrast, the Finnish were not driven to insanity by WWII, completely unlike the Russians, who have acted like crazy people ever since that war ended. When will the emotional trauma be over for the Russians? The whole world wants to know when.

WE HAVE LOST OUR WAY AND NEED TO URGENTLY FIX OUR PROBLEMS, WHICH - BTW- DON'T INCLUDE UKRAINE.

Don't we have MORE IMPORTANT things to worry about besides a nation that is- according to you- so grossly imcompetent that it's about to implode?
What about our border security?
Energy independence?
Debt load?
Wealth inequality?
Political and social corruption?
Every single one is an urgent problem of our own making that we can fix without spending a single dime on Ukraine, or the Uigyurs, or Kazakhstan or wherever-the-fuck.

And I think Russia is doing some things right that we would do we to emulate:

They are truly independent. They have the manufacturing capability, technology and resources that they can tell the rest of the world to go hang, and the military to defend it. We don't have quite the resource independence that they do. We've burned thru our easily-extracted oil, and we lack strategic metals like titanium. BUT we come pretty darn close. WE could be independent. INSTEAD, WE DECIDED TO BE THE WORLD'S TYRANT.

They want to be a sovereign nation. That means they're willing to defend their borders and their rights. We (or at least our elite, anyway) gave away our manufacuring and are pissing away our money and resources on issues and places that have nothing to do with us.

They have a balanced budget. Their currency means something. Their total debt load is far less than ours.

They're reining in their oligarchs.

Their military is capable of fighting wars. Ours is just a big procurement office for Lockheed Martin and Raytheon and General Dynamics and Northrop-Grumman.

America is a sick nation, and every single one of my posts is about how AMERICA must get better.
Why do you keep obsessing about Russia for god's sake? Don't you have ENOUGH to pay attention to besides that?

WE HAVE LOST OUR WAY AND NEED TO URGENTLY FIX OUR PROBLEMS, WHICH - BTW- DON'T INCLUDE UKRAINE.

- Even with ALL CAPS No one believes you are "deeply concerned" about the US. You are more concerned with telling people what they should do - *cough* fascist *cough* - the fact that you follow that with "we've lost our way" only proves it. "Urgently?" How do you Urgently fix a global problem? You're stretching again (fck, this whole post is one big stretch).

Z: "I think Russia wants to be left alone."
- So they started an unprovoked war??

Z: "But even if Putin is a "sick fucker"... SO WHAT???"
- So all those nukes and threats?

Z: "Don't we have MORE IMPORTANT things to worry about besides a nation that is- according to you- so grossly imcompetent that it's about to implode?"
- But you say they aren't so why aren't you more concerned? You logic has no logic.

- You're right - we're not spending money on Ukraine to fix those things.

Z: "They are truly independent."
- Funny, yanno, with them being economically dependent on their Oil&Gas.

Z: They have the manufacturing capability, technology and resources that they can tell the rest of the world to go hang..."
- Great, go hang Russia! They can recall their troops and hang together.

Z: "...and the military to defend it." funny, yanno seeing how they can't beat little ole Ukraine and were driven out of Afghanistan.

Z: "We don't have quite the resource independence that they do. We've burned thru our easily-extracted oil, and we lack strategic metals like titanium. BUT we come pretty darn close. WE could be independent. INSTEAD, WE DECIDED TO BE THE WORLD'S TYRANT."
- World's? Serious, did you have a relative killed in a US bombing raid somewhere?

Z: "They want to be a sovereign nation. That means they're willing to defend their borders and their rights."
- Sooooo just like Ukraine? OKAY, that is beyond IRONIC.

Z: "They have a balanced budget. Their currency means something. Their total debt load is far less than ours."
- They have an artificially balanced budget, an artificially pimped emergency pull the red lever "clear!" stable currency, and no kidding, with an economy the size of Italy their debt load should be less than ours.

Z: "They're reining in their oligarchs."
- Because of our sanctions

WHEN Russia becomes a security threat TO US, THEN I'll be concerned. There are three things we SHOUKD be doing right now:
Renegotiate nuclear treaties. "Trust but verify" was a formula that worked well.
Stop trying to destabilize Russia.
Revamp our military to be able to fight wars, not waste money.

Signym, the kind of Americans that express your opinions are found all over Texas and they find reasons to defend Trump and attack Biden. I've got a brother-in-law married to my older sister who could match Signym word for word about the problems of America. On the other hand, my sister has no problems, never talks politics to her husband, worked until she was 70 years old as a teacher in the Houston Independent School District, and is a self-made multi-millionaire.

How about that brother-in-law and his ideas that Signym also shares? Besides spouting his Trumpish diagnosis of America's problems, he does nothing. At 71 years old, he hasn't worked in 25 years because of his stupid motor mouth. Nobody should listen to his ideas about America, but there are millions of Americans who spout the same nonsense as he and Signym do. He had a younger brother who was the same kind of political beast: same ideas inhabiting his brain, but he didn't have a wife, like my sister. It did not end well for that younger brother. He died at 50 after he ruined himself with stupid ideas about how to run a restaurant, how to invest on the stock market, how to . . . too irritating to list his many and varied personal failures to understand the country he lived in. That guy was exactly like every other Trump defender I know. He ruined himself with stupidity, dishonesty and his lack of self-control and he blamed Democrats, not himself, for his ruin.

Back to Ukraine. Putin has a head stuffed full of nonsense and a personal life that is just as screwed up. Signym, go look at how Putin got wealthy. Look at Putin's marriage. Look at his illegitimate children. Then look at Putin's ideas for how to govern Russia. It is easy to know that Putin's ideas are wrong by comparing Russia to Japan. Russia has not prospered because of Putin's extraordinarily bad ideas. Look at the numbers, Signym. Putin is a failure and his plans for Russia have been revealed as ridiculous. His plans for Ukraine? The plans will kill many Russians and gain very little compared to what Putin spent on his war.

So, you and the Trumptards have political prisons planned, 6ix? Putin did the same, imprisoning millions of ordinary Ukrainians: The United States has called on Russia to immediately stop its systematic “filtration” and forced deportation of millions of Ukrainians in territories under Moscow’s control and to allow outside observers access to camps through which they pass.

“The unlawful transfer and deportation of protected persons is a grave breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention on the protection of civilians and is a war crime,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement Wednesday, yesterday.

At least 23 people, including children, were killed in a cruise missile attack, according to the Ukrainian authorities. They said that more than 60 needed hospital treatment and dozens more people are missing.

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskym called it 'an open act of terrorism'.

The attack took place in the city of Vinnytsia, south-west of the capital Kyiv and a long way from the focus of the fighting in the eastern region of Donbas.

The Russian defence ministry has consistently denied targeting civilians, despite the evidence.

6ix, Putin, Signym and you call truth lies. How then can you win your bet that the Pentagon, not Putin, killed Ukrainian civilians? One way is that the Russian missiles did not evaporate on impact. The missile left jagged metal pieces identifying it as made in Russia, but when all truth is a lie, 6ix could claim the missile was stolen from Russia by the Pentagon, therefore 6ix wins his bet that it is the Pentagon, not Putin, killing civilians. Is it time for Putin to take his legal case to the War Crimes Court with the USA as the real killer, not Putin? Probably is time for Russia to turn the table on Ukraine for besmirching Putin's fine reputation.

Forty-five nations pledge to coordinate evidence of war crimes in Ukraine

THE HAGUE, July 14 (Reuters) - The United States and more than 40 other countries agreed on Thursday to coordinate investigations into suspected war crimes in Ukraine, shortly after what Kyiv said was a Russian missile strike that killed civilians far from front lines.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy told the international conference that Russian missiles had struck two community centres in the west of Ukraine, killing 20 people, including three children, and wounding many more.

Russia has repeatedly denied involvement in war crimes and deliberately targeting civilians since it invaded Ukraine in February. It says it launched a "special military operation" to protect Russian speakers and root out dangerous nationalists. Ukraine says Moscow is waging an unprovoked war of conquest.

"Today in the morning, Russian missiles hit our city of Vinnytsia, an ordinary, peaceful city. Cruise missiles hit two community facilities, houses were destroyed, a medical centre was destroyed, cars and trams were (set) on fire," Zelenskiy said by video link. "This is the act of Russian terror."

The Russian defence ministry did not immediately comment on the reports from Vinnytsia.

On Thursday, 45 countries at the conference in The Hague - headquarters of the International Criminal Court (ICC) - signed a political declaration to work together on investigations into war crimes in Ukraine.

Those countries included European Union states as well as Britain, the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia.

Steps they will take include creating an umbrella group to avoid duplicating investigations, training Ukrainian prosecutors and expanding the number of forensic teams operating in Ukraine.

They also pledged 20 million euros ($20 million) to assist the ICC, as well as the prosecutor general's office in Ukraine and United Nations support efforts.

With some 23,000 war crimes investigations now open and different countries heading teams, evidence needs to be credible and organised, officials said.

Similar things have happened in Syria, you know. In one infamous "Assad gassed his own people" episode, the field OPCW investigators looked at the condition and position of a chlorine cylinder and concluded that the cylinder had been "placed" on the bed. (bc if it really had fallen thru the ceiling it would have broken the bed). In other words, it was "staged" by people at the scene.

The technical report was rewritten by an OPCW higher-up to say the opposite. It wasn't until a whistleblower came forward a few years later that the malicious OPCW report was exposed.

And then there was another "Assad gassed his own people" episode where a rocket fin was placed specifically in the frame to implicate the Syrian government, amplified by the (in)famous Bellingcat.

Another "Assad gassed his own people" where the same children's bodies were spotted (by a sharp-eyed nun who worked in Syria) in different positions and locations to amplify the public body count.

And, hey, what about the half-dozen scenarios of the Skripal poisoning, none of which made sense (it was the doorknob! No, it was the clothing!) or could account for the when, where and how ... HOW they could have gotten so far from home before being overcome? Or even the so-called Navalny poisoning.

And what about the snipers on the Maidan?

Or even TRUMP!RUSSIA!COLLUSION! in which file metadata points to files being loaded locally onto a thumb drive, not "hacked" via the internet.

You think our CIA doesn't stoop to false flags and provocations?

You think Russia would get a fair hearing in any western agency?

Ukraine Is Bringing a Big Gun to a Knife Fight

But U.S. and European multiple launch rockets alone aren’t enough to put Ukraine on the front foot for a counteroffensive.

With eight American HIMARS now in Ukrainian hands and four more expected to get into the country by the end of July, the defenders are racking up a major cost in Russian ammunition, supplies, and likely lives. Ukrainian troops knocked out 14 ammunition dumps in June, according to a tally by the BBC’s Russian service ( https://www.bbc.com/russian/features-62086287 ), many of them behind Russian lines in the Donbas, using the new weapons and another four tank-mounted rocket launchers from Britain. (More are on the way from Germany and Norway too.) The explosions have spawned a cottage industry of pro-Ukrainian memes featuring Japanese Shiba dogs in military fatigues watching the blasts, and the Ukrainian military believes that at least one Russian general has been killed in the blasts.

Russia has used cannons to batter its enemies from afar for three centuries, and officials knew that the U.S.-made precision missiles were coming for months, even sending a formal diplomatic letter to the U.S. State Department in April to try and warn off the Biden administration. There’s a reason that the Kremlin was nervous. The truck-mounted system weighs nearly 18 tons and can fire six precision-guided missiles at a time and then can quickly skedaddle, cutting into Moscow’s firepower advantage in massed artillery that is about 3-1 in the Donbas region.

Yet Russia still left itself open to a counterpunch. Early in the war, it left long, vulnerable supply convoys that were ravaged by Ukrainian sneak attacks during the Kyiv offensive. Now, they’re facing the same sort of ambush from afar, while the vaunted S-400 air defense systems Russia brought into Ukraine have been helpless against the low-altitude threat.

“It’s clear that they were not preparing to deal with this,” said Rob Lee, a fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute who previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps. “It’s been no secret that the Ukrainians have been asking for HIMARS for a while; it was no secret that when they got HIMARS, they were coming; and it’s no secret what the capabilities of HIMARS are. What steps did Russia take to adapt? It doesn’t look like they took many steps at all.”

The U.S. Defense Department and other U.S. agencies fed HIMARS into Ukraine slowly, officials said, waiting to test Kyiv’s aptitude on the system, reflected by Germany and Britain, which handed off multiple launch rockets mounted on Bradley tank frames four at a time. But U.S. and European officials have been impressed, they said, by Ukraine’s systematic selection of targets, interdicting Russian supplies and attacking command posts in a bid to grind the Kremlin’s war effort to a near-complete halt. The goal, one Ukrainian military official said, is to destroy all Russian storage facilities on Ukrainian soil, picking off targets about five miles behind enemy lines.

“What you see is the Ukrainians … actually systematically selecting targets and then accurately hitting them, thus providing this precise method of degrading Russian capability,” a senior U.S. defense official told reporters this month. The Ukrainian military official told Foreign Policy on Tuesday that Russia has responded by pulling back command posts, but because of the Kremlin’s top-down military planning and refusal to delegate command further down the ranks, it lacks the nimbleness in its logistics to disperse military supplies as Ukrainian defenders have done.

But Ukrainian officials said the weapons are not yet enough to put them on the front foot for a counteroffensive, which Kyiv had hoped to begin mounting by August. (Western officials more conservatively hope for Ukraine to start large-scale counterattacks by next spring but bearing in mind increasing public fatigue.) For instance, Ukraine’s demand for longer-range Army Tactical Missile Systems, known as ATACMS, that can be fired one at a time from the HIMARS truck beds and hit Russian targets nearly 200 miles away have fallen on deaf ears with the Biden administration, which is worried about Ukraine hitting targets inside of Russia and escalating the conflict. Kyiv has pledged that it would not do that.

The Ukrainian official said Kyiv is hoping for dozens of HIMARS to eventually arrive in Ukraine—a far cry from the 300 multiple launch rocket systems that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s confidante Mykhailo Podolyak asked for in June; Kaleniuk pegged the number at 40 batteries loaded with ATACMS missiles to begin the counterattack and self-propelled Paladin artillery pieces that can more easily dodge Russian counter-fire.

Ukrainian officials insist that Russia has not succeeded in destroying any of their batteries so far, but there remain growing fears that Russia will begin to find countermeasures from the HIMARS rockets. And the potential arrival of up to 100 Iranian combat drones, which U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said Tehran had agreed to sell to Russia, is creating fears in the Ukrainian ranks that the HIMARS batteries will be left helpless to an aerial onslaught, the Ukrainian military official told Foreign Policy. Ukraine has been asking U.S. officials for more drones of their own to conduct reconnaissance sweeps and fight back. “It will be really hard for [Russia] to hide command posts from our reconnaissance,” the official said.

“Russia is not above learning from market leaders—first Israeli drones over a decade ago and now Iranians,” said Samuel Bendett, an advisor with the CNA think tank and a member of the organization’s Russia Studies Program.“If Iranians provide Russia with loitering munitions, then Moscow can start applying tactics it learnt from the Nagorno-Karabakh war, where loitering munitions proved decisive.”

Even with the HIMARS screaming and more Russian ammunition depots going boom in the night, experts believe that the new American weapons are likely to simply reinforce the status quo on the ground: a protracted stalemate.

“By hitting command and control, by hitting ammo depots, you make it much more likely that a Russian offensive will stall,” Lee said. “But that doesn’t necessarily mean that HIMARS is going to give the Ukrainians the ability to retake terrain.”

The explosions have spawned a cottage industry of pro-Ukrainian memes featuring Japanese Shiba dogs in military fatigues watching the blasts, and the Ukrainian military believes that at least one Russian general has been killed in the blasts.

SECOND: 6ix, Putin, Signym and you call truth lies.

I HATE LIES. And you, SECOND, are a clumsy, twisted, confused liar who doesn't know when to stop lying.

It's a bad habit you have there. It must make things really noisy inside your head, with dozens of voices all telling different stories. You should try to break bad habit; it's worse than smoking.

Yup.

You know when I was closest in my life to calling myself a Democrat?

When it was the Democrats who agreed on these types of issues with me when GWB was in office.

It's all right here in my post history.

Fuck 2020 Democrats.

Brainwashed fucking idiots and liars, the entire lot of them.

6ix, you have always been a perfectly natural fit for the Republican Party. Vote for Trump since he gives your life meaning that it never before had! Be what you always were meant to be.

I'm not a Republican. I've leaned far closer to being a Democrat than I ever have leaned Republican.

I will vote for Trump again.

But there's no need to give him any more credit for things he doesn't deserve. Voting for Trump brings no sense of meaning to my life.

Trump didn't drag me out of alcoholism. I did that on my own. No 12 step program, no group chat with "God" necessary.

I give my life purpose. And I've got plenty of good to do before I'm gone. For myself, and for the circle of people I care about.

I'm not the one of the two of us who has wrapped every fiber of his being around his political ideology.

That would be you, buddy.

Get some help.
