SECOND: This year the US will spend another $1 trillion on defense. Who is the US defending itself from? From the past records, we know what country was used as the justification for these huge defense budgets. It is Russia. The US has already spent more than $10 trillion in a nuclear arms race with Russia, but since 1945 the US never had the guts to beat the shit out of the Russians commit suicide on a mass scale, so that there would not be an arms race. but decided to beat the shit out of dozens of weaker hapless nations instead. But at long last, there is a country (Ukraine) that is beating the shit out of Russians, stupid enough to be used as a hapless proxy against Russia and is getting beaten to a pulp, but 6ix wants the beating to stop.

What will you do, SECOND, when Ukraine folds like a cheap suit? Will you admit that you posted hundreds of lies and thousands of lines of nonsense?

Unlike you predicting Russia will win, I have not predicted that Ukraine will win. But I will make a prediction: if Russia wins, Putin will treat the Ukrainians as magnanimously as Stalin treated the Germans. Two million Germans were killed after Germany surrendered. Russia denies that happened. The Germans said it happened.

Likewise, the Russians said they didn't kill 4 million Ukrainians during Holodomor. The Ukrainians said the Russians did kill the Ukrainians by the millions. This time won't be any different than last time. My prediction is that Ukrainians will die by the millions if the Russians win, but Russians will deny it is happening. That's what Russians do to conquered nations.

Ukraine is already the loser here with 2 generations of men dying for NATO.

In the end, they will have died for nothing when they surrender to Russia.

You are getting pretty close to Signym's position that Russia shall win. Why not wait until Russia is more assured to win? Otherwise, you'll end up disappointed just as you were when Trump lost despite your wholehearted devotion to the notion he's a winner.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that the Russian defense industrial base is increasing its production of precision missiles for use against Ukraine.[1]

Shoigu likely seeks to deflect intensifying accusations that the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) cannot provide sufficient ammunition to Russian forces.

Russian milbloggers began naming specific Russian MoD officials in their accusations of poor supply provisions to Russian forces.[5] Wagner Group financier Yevgeny Prigozhin continues to claim that the Russian MoD is deliberately setting Wagner mercenaries up for failure in Bakhmut by refusing to provide their requested number of shells, which his commanders claim is leading to high casualties and slow progress on the battlefield.[6] A Wagner serviceman also claimed that he delivered 39 boxes with complaints from Wagner servicemen about lack of ammunition to the Russian State Duma’s Defense Committee on May 2.[7]

The Kremlin reportedly distributed a new manual instructing Russian state media on how to cover an upcoming potential Ukrainian counteroffensive that, if real, indicates the Kremlin is setting informational conditions to mitigate shocks in the Russian information space from Ukrainian successes. Meduza reported that sources close to the Russian presidential administration stated that Russian losses will be understandable because “the entire West has concentrated huge efforts on the front.”[16] The alleged document suggests the Kremlin is preparing for Ukrainian successes and is planning to mitigate demoralization in the Russian information space.

Kremlin accuses Ukraine of trying to assassinate Putin

In a statement, the Kremlin said: "Last night, the Kyiv regime attempted to carry out a strike on the Kremlin residence of the President of the Russian Federation with unmanned aerial vehicles."

It said it regarded this "as a planned terrorist act and an assassination attempt on the president", and Russia "reserves the right to take retaliatory measures wherever and whenever is deemed necessary".

Ukrainian comment: Wouldn't that be a terrible injustice if Putin was killed after he has done absolutely nothing wrong to Ukraine? We would deeply mourn this great man's abrupt passing into history.

The entire country lost and continues to lose when Biden* won*.

No American stands to gain or lose anything if Russia or Ukraine wins, other than the fact that we won't be wasting any more taxpayer dollars on NATO's war. That money ends no matter what the result is.

a) Russia is fighting a war of attrition, not "big arrow offensives". Silly man. Russia is not only de-militarizing Kiev, it's demilitarizing NATO.

b) There's a reason why the USA is avoiding direct conflict between USA troops and Russian troops in Ukraine. Go figure out why.

a) War of attrition? You don't know how many Russians Russia has killed by invading Ukraine. That is what real attrition is.

Unlike the US in all wars of the 20th and 21st centuries, Russia does NOT keep a list of every soldier who dies because Russia does NOT give a damn how many millions of its citizens die for the Tsar or Stalin or Putin. Back in 1990, Russia had killed 62 million of its own citizens as proof Russia does NOT care who dies.

Since the USA keeps track of every dead soldier, unlike Russia not even counting to the nearest million of its dead citizens, the calculus for the USA going to war is very different than the calculations Russians made before slaughtering their own citizens in Ukraine.

Russians killed 62 million of their own people because they do not value them. The Ukrainians know this because millions of the dead once lived in Ukraine. Russians don't know and don't care how many millions die. Not knowing and not caring does not make Russians stronger.

• Russia accused Ukraine of conducting a drone strike against the Kremlin.

• Russia likely staged this attack in an attempt to bring the war home to a Russian domestic audience and set conditions for a wider societal mobilization.

• The rapid and coherent presentation of an official Russian narrative around the strike suggests that Russia staged this attack in close proximity to the May 9th Victory Day holiday in order to frame the war as existential to its domestic audience.

• Some Russian nationalist milbloggers seized on the Kremlin drone strike to call for Russian escalation in the war despite the fact that Russia currently lacks the military capability to do so.

• The Kremlin may be planning to conduct other false flag operations and to increase disinformation ahead of a Ukrainian counteroffensive in order to increase domestic support for the war.

The Kremlin is attempting to increase the production quotas of military supplies despite reportedly lacking the necessary manpower. Russian opposition outlet Verstka reported that Russian factories are failing to increase the volume of weapons production to satisfy state orders due to labor shortages.[61] Verstka reported that Russian factories are failing to properly compensate workers and are deducting funds for support of the Russian war effort from their salaries.

US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines stated that Russian forces are likely unable to conduct a “significant offensive” in 2023 due to munitions and manpower shortages.[25] Haines testified on May 4 to the Senate Armed Services Committee that it will be increasingly challenging for Russia to sustain “even modest offensive operations” if the Kremlin does not initiate mandatory mobilization or obtain third-party ammunition supplies in addition to existing deliveries from Iran and other unspecified countries.

Russian occupation authorities continue to announce plans to conduct further medical examinations of Ukrainian children in occupied territories, likely to facilitate the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia under the guise of rehabilitation. Kherson Oblast occupation head Vladimir Saldo stated on May 3 that 36 doctors from four unspecified Russian regions will arrive in occupied Kherson Oblast to begin medical examinations on May 10.[66] ISW reported on May 3 that occupied Kherson Oblast Ministry of Health had announced that doctors from Crimea and Russia intend to conduct medical examinations on 4,336 children in occupied Kherson Oblast.[67]

The Soviet people were under attack from two directions: the Nazi military machine and the Soviet Communist Party. The imprisonment and killing of enemies of the people by the party not only continued during the war, but was intensified. A large number of the Soviet World War II dead were killed by Stalin, not Hitler — probably 10,000,000 more. Had Ripley written a “Believe It or Not” of incredible tales of murder and death, the two-front war suffered by Soviet citizens and foreigners subject to Soviet occupation surely would provide prominent entries.

As the Red Army retreated before Nazi invasion forces, the NKVD often tried to deport prisoners east before the Nazis arrived. In some cases prisoners were beaten and shot in death marches along the roads or, if evacuation were impossible or too difficult, prisoners were shot en masse in the prisons,15 whether pickpockets, crooks, black marketeers, or political prisoners. For example, they were shot as prisons were evacuated in Tallin, Smolensk, Kiev, Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, and Orel; in Tartu at least 192 prisoners were killed.16 Upon the approach of German forces, all in Minsk’s prison were killed. It held about 10,000 inmates, although constructed for 1,000.17 All prisoners doing forced labor at a mining complex near Nalchik were machine gunned to death. At the Olginskaya camp, more than 2,000 of those sentenced for over four years were shot.18 And in the Ukraine:

In the majority of prisons NKVD troops shot all inmates who had been sentenced to more than three years. In some towns the NKVD burned prisons with all their inmates. According to Ukrainian sources, 10,000 prisoners were shot in Lvov, Zolochevo, Rovno, Dubno, Lutsk, and other cities.19
In all, perhaps 80,000 Ukrainians were massacred during the Red Army retreat.20

Now, one’s mind can soon become dulled by all the figures being given here; one can read about 80,000 Ukrainians murdered but not absorb this magnitude. But consider: more Ukrainians were apparently murdered in this retreat than all the Englishmen killed (70,000) by all the Nazi bombs dropped on England during the war;21 it is more than all the American Marine and Navy battle-dead in all theaters of action in World War II (56,683);22 it is virtually equal to all the American battle dead in the Korean and Vietnam wars together (80,950).23

One would think that in the early, dark days of the war when it looked like Moscow would fall, when every able-bodied person was needed for the defense and war effort, millions of prisoners would have been released from the camps. Some in fact were released, many to be put in expendable penal battalions. Such battalions, untrained and often unarmed, sometimes without camouflaged uniforms so as to draw fire, were hurled in waves against Nazi positions, while NKVD troops would be behind them with machine guns ready to fire on those who hesitated or retreated. These former prisoners were also forced to clear mine fields by walking through them. When the head of the Soviet Military Mission in Britain, General Ratov, was offered British mine detectors, he declined, explaining that “in the Soviet Union we use people.”29

The population of the camps may have decreased in the early days of the war, from an estimated 10,000,000 prisoners in 1941 to 9,000,000 in 1942 (see appendix 7.1). But that would be only because the inflow to the camps, which continued in a broad stream, was insufficient to cover those prisoners who were killed—probably 2,000,000 in 1941 and 3,400,000 in 1942. In 1943, when the war effort was not as bleak, but the outcome still could have gone either way, the camp population actually appears to have increased to a likely 11,200,000.30 And during the whole war, the number of these unfortunates who were usually guilty of nothing, who were dying a slow, miserable, death in the camps, may have reached 15,000,000.31 Even this figure may be too conservative. Says Kravchenko about 1942 alone:

In official circles twenty millions became the accepted estimate of this labor reservoir (of prisoners). The estimate did not include the boys and girls from 14 to 16 forcibly torn away from their parents and assigned to regions and industries in which manpower shortages were sharpest.32

As before the war, these camp prisoners were used as slave labor. They were auctioned and sold, their bodies contracted for as though so much machinery. Kravchenko also gives us a feel for this:

I recall vividly an interview which I arranged . . . with one of the top administrators of GULAG. He was to supply a certain commissariat some hundreds of prisoners for a rush assignment. We were under terrific pressure . . . and I had summoned the GULAG official for a showdown on this manpower.

“But Comrade Kravchenko, be reasonable,” he interrupted my speech. “After all, your Sovnarkom is not the only one howling for workers. The State Defense Committee needs them. Comrade Mikoyan makes life miserable for us, Malenkov and Vosnessensky need workers, Voroshilov is calling for road builders. Naturally everyone thinks his own job is the most important. What are we to do? The fact is we haven't as yet fulfilled our plans for imprisonments. Demand is greater than supply.”33

During the war, the camp regime was especially severe, increasing markedly the camp death rate. For example, out of 50,000 prisoners at the railroad camp of Pechorlag in the fall of 1941, there were 10,000 left alive the following spring; out of 50 people in the central sector barracks of Burepolom Camp in February 1943, at least four died a night, and one night twelve died (in the morning the dead would be replaced).34 Moreover, special categories of enemies were massacred periodically throughout the camps, such as the shooting in every camp of all former and actual Trotskyites in 1942.35 Moreover, camp administrators and guards were constantly on watch for ways to justify their exemption from duty at the front—“plots” and “conspiracies” among prisoners were regularly “discovered,” usually resulting in batches of prisoners being shot.

Signym, the contradiction is between the story Russians tell themselves in 2023 and the truth about Russians in WWII:

How many died under these wartime conditions in the camps? Tolstoy says that one “former prisoner, who with his comrades conducted a rough-and-ready estimate, reckoned that seven million gulag inmates were slaughtered in the first year of the war.”39 Although Tolstoy believes that this need not be an exaggeration, a more prudent estimate of the total murdered in transit to or in the camps during the whole war period is 8,518,000 Soviet citizens (see appendix 7.1).

What irony, indeed. The democracies fought alongside the Soviet Union to eradicate the horror of fascism from the world. And afterwards, the democracies shook their collective head over the documented mass, inhuman murder of Jews and heaved a sigh of relief and thankfulness that this abominable Nazi system was utterly defeated. Yet, the democracies’ major ally and a victor sitting in judgment with them at the Nuremberg trials was, during that very war, murdering more innocent people just in their labor camps than the Nazis were machine gunning in the gullies and gassing in their concentration camps.

Then there were the Soviet deportations. Whole cultural, ethnic, and linguistically homogeneous nations of suspect loyalty were deported. Naturally, all German-Soviets were not trusted, no matter if they had lived in the Soviet Union for generations or had been heroes in the Red Army. In August 1941, the loyalty of the Volga Germans was tested by parachuting men in Nazi uniforms from planes with Nazi markings among villages. They asked to be hidden until the Nazi Army came. If the villagers complied, the village was immediately liquidated.40 But even when villagers reported the parachutists, their reprieve was short anyway. They were all eventually deported, whether their sons were at the front fighting or they were loyal party members. In total about 412,000 Volga Germans,41 with perhaps another 400,000 or more ethnic Germans from other parts of the European Soviet Union,42 were whisked away.

Their deportation was less harsh than that of many other nations, such as the Crimean Tatars. The Germans often had several days’ warning, and sometimes they were seen off at the stations by friends of other nationalities. Still, the Volga Germans were packed forty to sixty to a cattle car for many days and sometimes weeks; among those who had to cross the Central Asian deserts, many died from lack of water. Most deportees were transported to Siberia and Northern Kazakstan.43

Also, those nations that had presumably “cooperated” or “collaborated” (by party definition) with the occupying Nazi forces, or that might do so, had to go. Even minorities living in sensitive areas were deported, although, as Khrushchev later admitted, at the time there was no military necessity to do so, since the Nazis were already being forced to retreat.44 Thus, the party deported to the inhospitable far reaches of the country not only all German-Soviets, but also Greek-Soviets, Chechens, Ingushi, Karachai, Balkars, Kalmyks, Crimean Tatars, and Meskhetians—nine entire nations. No one was excepted, not even deputies to the Supreme Soviet.45 As to how some of these deportations were carried out, we have the following account regarding the Chechens:

NKVD units, dressed as ordinary troops, entered the republic in early February 1944, as if for manoeuvers. The population was assembled in the villages on the evening of 22 February 1944, to celebrate Red Army Day. They were surrounded by troops and the deportation decree was read to them by security officers. Stormy scenes ensued, in which many of the weaponless Chechens and Ingushi were shot down. The rest were rounded up and allowed to collect 50 kilograms of baggage per family. . . . They were then driven away in trucks—mainly lease-lend Studebakers, we are told by Lt.-Col. Burlitsky, who took part in the deportation of the Chechen village of Novoselskoye.46

Of just 1,600,000 deported among eight nations, about 530,000 probably died.47

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) appears to have deprioritized the Bakhmut offensive in favor of preparing to defend against an anticipated Ukrainian counteroffensive, putting the Wagner Group and Wagner financier Yevgeny Prigozhin in a potentially difficult position. Prigozhin released a series of videos on May 4 and 5 announcing that Wagner will withdraw from Bakhmut on May 10 unless Wagner receives necessary supplies and launched particularly acerbic and emotional attacks against Chief of the Russian General Staff Army General Valery Gerasimov, Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu, and the Russian MoD establishment writ large.[1] Prigozhin’s palpable desperation in the videos, one of which shows the corpses of recently deceased Wagner fighters, marks a significant rhetorical inflection in his continued pleas for increased Russian MoD support for Wagner in Bakhmut. His visible and visceral anger suggests that the Russian MoD has likely deprioritized Bakhmut and shifted operational focus elsewhere in the theater in ways that may seriously compromise Wagner’s ability to operate effectively. Wagner has not ceased efforts to completely capture Bakhmut despite reduced access to ammunition and other necessary supplies, however. Prigozhin has shown no willingness to switch to the defensive within the city.

Wagner’s continued persistence within Bakhmut is incongruent with the overall slow-down in the pace of Russian offensive operations elsewhere in Ukraine as conventional Russian forces appear to be largely shifting focus to prepare to receive the much-anticipated Ukrainian counteroffensive.[2] Aside from very limited and localized attacks in the Kreminna area and near Donetsk City, Russian forces have largely ceased offensive operations throughout the theater, likely signifying a transition to the defensive.[3] It would be an operationally sound decision for the Russian MoD to begin withholding and stockpiling ammunition and supplies in order to prepare for any Ukrainian counteroffensive actions, and Prigozhin’s desperate statements indicate that the Russian MoD is likely doing so. ISW has recently reported that Prigozhin began appealing to the Russian MoD to provide Wagner with necessary ammunition once again after a brief period during which it seemed that relations between Prigozhin and Russian military leadership had improved.[4] Prigozhin’s renewed anger reached its peak in the May 4 video of Prigozhin essentially screaming at Gerasimov and Shoigu and accusing them of the deaths of Wagner fighters.[5]

The losses suffered by Wagner in Bakhmut, alongside the likely de-prioritization of the Bakhmut effort by the Russian MoD, may leave Prigozhin and Wagner in a particularly bad spot. It is not immediately clear whether Prigozhin actually intends to withdraw from Bakhmut on May 10 or whether he made the announcement in a last-ditch attempt to secure MoD support. If Wagner does withdraw, then it will likely need Russian MoD equipment to protect and facilitate the retrograde. The Russian military lacks the reserves needed to man positions Wagner might abandon in Bakhmut, moreover. The massive losses suffered by Wagner in Bakhmut for the sake of tactical gains, as well as the overall shift of the Russian military towards a more cautious posture preparing for defensive operations, appears to be offering Ukrainian forces opportunities for fruitful counterattacks in various areas of the front. Ukrainian forces appear to be seizing some of these opportunities, as noted below, but ISW does not assess that these counterattacks are necessarily part of the anticipated counteroffensive.

What? You won't change your citizenship to Russian? Then lose your house and be deported to Russia for slave labor. If you refuse to work, Russia refuses to feed you:

Ukrainians in Starobilsk are evicted from their homes and sent to filtration centres for not accepting Russian passports

The General Staff notes that the Russians usually come to people’s homes no more than twice. The third time they come, the people and their belongings are forcibly thrown into the street.

After being evicted, such citizens are taken to filtration centres and their homes are given to servicemen of the Russian occupation army for accommodation.

The major developments in human history are always steeped in dark ironies. Taking WWII as the archetypal example, let's enumerate just the more obvious ones:

» After the carnage of WWI, many of the world's most sensitive and thoughtful people learned the lesson that they should oppose war at any cost. This attitude let Germany rearm and set the stage for WWII.

» Hitler, who was neither tall nor blond, wished to establish the worldwide domination of tall, blond Aryans ... and do so via an alliance with the Japanese, also neither tall nor blond.

» The Nazis touted the dream of eugenically perfecting the human race, then perpetrated genocide against a tiny group that had produced Einstein, von Neumann, Wigner, Ulam, and Tarski.

» The Jews were murdered using a chemical — Zyklon B — developed in part by the Jewish chemist Fritz Haber.

» The Allied force that made the greatest sacrifice in lives to defeat Hitler was Stalin's USSR, another of history's most murderous and horrifying regimes.

» The man who rallied the free world to defeat Nazism, Winston Churchill, was himself a racist colonialist, whose views would be (and regularly are) denounced as "Nazi" on modern college campuses.

» The WWII legacy that would go on to threaten humanity's existence — the Bomb — was created in what the scientists believed was a desperate race to save humanity. Then Hitler was defeated before the Bomb was ready, and it turned out the Nazis were never even close to building their own Bomb, and the Bomb was used instead against Japan.

• Wagner Group financier Yevgeny Prigozhin and Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov may have compelled the Russian theater commander in Ukraine, Army General Valery Gerasimov, to resume artillery ammunition distribution to Wagner forces in Bakhmut despite Gerasimov’s desired de-prioritization of that effort.

• Kadyrov’s threats to transfer his forces to Bakhmut may have blackmailed the Russian military command into allocating ammunition to Wagner mercenaries.

• Kadyrov likely supported Wagner’s blackmail efforts against the Russian military command to reestablish his position within the circle of power of the Kremlin.

• Gerasimov's apparent need to negotiate with subordinate commanders and those commanders’ ability to force his hand suggests that chain of command problems are significantly impacting the Russian military's ability to conduct coherent theater-wide operations.

• These events raise questions about Russia’s ability to coordinate a coherent theaterwide defensive campaign.

• Prigozhin’s and Kadyrov’s ability to significantly influence Russian military command decisions relies on Putin’s willingness to appease them and his reliance on their forces - both of which will likely degrade after further blackmail efforts.

• Prigozhin’s continued fight to complete the capture of Bakhmut contradicts his consistent narrative that capturing Bakhmut lacks strategic value.

Wrong. War reparations on Germany crumbled the German economy, leading to hyperinflation and a mass-revolt against international sanctions, and towards an alternative path. Communism and Hilterlism (National Socialism) were runnng neck-and-neck until Hilter uncorked his dirty tricks.
Also, America's oil embargo against Japan, which critically starved the Japanese economy, led to Japan's atttack on Pearl Harbor.

NEr... I think we can count Britain and its endlss imperial rape of most of the world up there with murderous regimes.

He was. He was also a military failure in his preious wartime experience. He wasn't fighting "racism" tho, he was fighting for Britain's survival.

Of all of the arguments for the using the bomb against Japan ... it caused the Japanese to surrender, shortened the war etc. turned out not to be the case, since Japan was already close to surrendering and the USA knew it. The reason was probably to stop the USSR from storming thru the east in an end-of-war opportunistic push. Even then, The USSR wrested Mongolia and other far east ares from Japan's hands

Hyper-inflation was NOT caused by reparations. The only way to force Germany to pay reparations would be for France to invade Germany, maintain the occupation, and take control of German taxation for many years, redirecting tax money to France. France would not have done that. And there is no alternative way to force a country to pay. Russia knows this very well, which is why it freely destroys Ukrainian property. Russia knows it will never pay unless Russia is invaded, then continuously occupied by the invaders, who then tax Russia for many years to pay for the damages to Ukraine. That is no more likely to happen than France invading Germany in 1922 to force Germany to pay.

Sensibly, Germany could have refused to pay the reparation debt, but the government behaved ridiculously: The Weimar government was still in a position to get a grip on the economy; instead, it chose to print yet more money in order to pay the reparation debt. By July 1922 prices had risen by some 700 percent, and hyperinflation had arrived. The government had to print million-mark notes, then billion-mark notes. It was a stupid thing for the German government to do. I can see why someone with only a little more common sense (Hitler) was able to come to power when the so-called better Germans were acting financially like morons and fools.

The attack on Pearl Harbor did NOT end the oil embargo. It just made things more difficult for Japan, not better. But the dimwits running Japan couldn't understand that, could they? The Japanese believed back then the way Russians believe today, that war leads to prosperity.

I guess we're all just waiting fpr the autumn... winter ... ... spring summer??? Kiev offensive.

Ukraine's SBU is resorting to assasinations, assasiantion attempts, and pinprick attacks in Russia proper.

Bakhmut and Marinka are 90+pct undr Russian control. There have been several "reconnaissance in force" attacks in the Zaparozhye area, and Russia is evacuating the towns around there. I haven't read a complete list of evacuated towns nor looked at map to locate them, but I wonder if they're all around the Zaparozhye Nuclear Power Plant, which is the one big prize and/or target in the region. I can't imagine Kiev ultimately winning a conventional push, but I CAN imagine Kiev ordering a terror attack on the power plant and despoiling a large part of Ukraine with nuclear fallout.

Except for that, or maybe flooding the Dnieper, I can't imagine Kiev managing to uncork any big surprises. No "wunderwaffe" in the arsenal.

what I'm hearing is that there is a policy struggle in the western world: one USA faction wants to call it quits in Ukraine and focus on Taiwan and China while the EU portion wants/needs cotinued relations with China for economic reasons, and one USA and EU faction wants to go full steam ahead and is pushing a reluctant Kiev to launch the offensive NOW, stop stalling with excuses about the weather and lack of munitions and weapons and get ON with it.

What I don't understand is, if it's as hopeless for Kiev as it looks right now, why the urgent urgency? why push for a defeat now instead of a defeat later? Are "they" (the DNCneocons and neolibs) hoping to get Ukraine's defeat out of the way and memory-holed well before 2024? There must be a reason for the push, I just can't imagine what that is.

THUGR: Too funny...comrade signym has been threatening Ukraine would fold like a cheap suit for over a year now. I told you comrade that Russia was a paper tiger. The first time, many many years ago.

a) Russia is fighting a war of attrition, not "big arrow offensives". Silly man. Russia is not only de-militarizing Kiev, it's demilitarizing NATO.

b) There's a reason why the USA is avoiding direct conflict between USA troops and Russian troops in Ukraine. Go figure out why.

No treaty or agreement requires the United States to come to Ukraine’s aid. Although the United States had strongly supported Ukrainian sovereignty and independence, the United States has no obligation to go to its defense.

If this crisis was happening with the Baltic states? Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania the situation would be different. These countries are NATO members, and the United States has a treaty obligation to them.

Also, the president of Ukraine has said many times he did not want the American army to get directly involved. That he only wanted weapons.

Signym says with bitterness, the Russian army’s plan is to slowly reduce the Ukrainian army’s military strength. You can see me quoting her here. She describes it as attrition. “The action or process of gradually reducing the strength or effectiveness of someone or something through sustained attack or pressure.”

So, I ask her, where the fuck is the logic in that? If this truly is Russia’s plan, then their approach is to watch their own military get destroyed in the process. I’d add, Ukraine’s military is stronger today than it’s ever been. No way can Russia claim the same. That fact alone is evidence Russia is getting its ass kicked.

And Signym, tick tock

THUGR, why do you say that I describe Russias war of attrition "with bitterness"? Your mind-reading sucks. (As usual) What I feel most often is IRRITATION bc I have to keep repeating myself so often, especially to retards who keep jibing that Russia isn't advancing like they think it should. A war of attrition results in a static front when the enemy (in this case, Kiev) obliges you by constantly throwing itself against your defenses; or results in tacticsl retreat.

But why in god's name do you think that it's the RUSSIAN army getting ground down? Were Russia's air defenses destroyed? Have Russia's air force been obliterated? Is Russia's tank force, artillery, munitions and weapons factories, rail system, and fuel depots been destroyed? Most importantly, has Russia lost a while army's -worth of men?

You need to get your news from someplace that doesn't just embellish what "Kiev says".

Signym, do you remember that the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea fleet, the Moskva, was sunk early in the conflict? Russians said it didn't happen, but Russians were lying because it is effortless for Russians to lie, like breathing.

There is only one Moskva, so Ukraine can't sink it a second time to prove the Russians were lying, but there are more Kinzhal hypersonic ballistic missiles for Ukraine to shoot down to prove the Russians are lying.

Why would Kiev deny shooting down a hypersonic missile?
This is how it works, SECOND: Russia doesn't report all its losses, but when they DO report them, they seem to be accurate. (For example, the Russian MoD's KIA report tallies with the BBC's independent estimate.) When the Russian MoD claims territory, or #of Kiev weapons destroyed, it winds up looking accurate.

But Kiev lies about EVERYTHING: territory gained or lost, Ukrainian losses, Russian losses, weapons available... I shitcan everything "Kiev says", just like I shitcan everything you post.

Because for them, and for you, there are no "facts", only words as weapons. You, and they, will say anything... anything ... to advance your "war" (whatever it is).

Alternative story from today: Ukraine said Saturday that it shot down one of Russia’s hypersonic missiles using an American-made defense system.

Ukrainian military commander Mykola Oleshchuk said his forces downed the Russian missile over Kiev the night of May 4. He said they used the American Patriot missile defense system. He said a Russian aircraft had launched the hypersonic missile from Russian airspace into Ukraine.

What happened? Who knows? But if Ukraine doesn't shoot down a second Russian hypersonic missile, then the first shootdown was either a lucky fluke or it didn't happen or Russia realized that firing billions of dollars in missiles is a waste of money unless there is a nuke in the nose cone. Cost of one Iskander missile is US$3 million. It means that the Russians have already spent US$2.328 billion on missiles of this type, as they were launched on the territory of Ukraine. A Kalibr missile costs US$6.5 million; that is, the total cost of the launched projectiles has already reached US$1.482 billion. A Kh-101 missile costs US$13 million, and a Kh-555 missile, according to open source data, costs US$7.5 million. https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2022/10/14/7372027/

Putin Forced to Send 70-year-old Tanks From Russian Museums Into Ukraine Due to Ongoing Weapons Shortage

Vladimir Putin was recently forced to send 70-year-old tanks previously kept on display inside Russian museums into Ukraine to make up for his military’s ongoing weapons shortage, RadarOnline.com has learned.

In a surprising development to come after Russia is estimated to have lost more than 3,700 tanks in the past 14 months of fighting against Ukraine, the 70-year-old Russian leader reportedly ordered several Soviet-era T-55 tanks to be recommissioned and sent to the frontlines of battle.

According to Daily Star, the T-55 tanks being taken from Russian museums and sent into Ukraine were first constructed in 1948 shortly after the end of World War II.

For the First Time, a Patriot Missile Has Killed One of Russia’s Hypersonic Missiles

That may burst the hype bubble around the mighty Kinzhal.

Initially, though, the ID was contested. There was the possibility the downed weapon was instead a land-based Iskander tactical ballistic missile (also a hypersonic weapon, though less often hyped as such) upon which the Kinzhal is based.

Ukraine Weapon Tracker, a respected account known to ID weapons usage, noted:

“The debris matches the unitary warhead assembly used in Kh-47M2 & Iskander-series missiles. Further imagery is required to fully confirm the type of the missile - but both Iskander and Kinzhal are ballistic missiles which are regarded as extremely difficult to intercept; except by modern Western Air Defense systems that are entering service in Ukraine…We are confident in our ID.”

Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yuriy Ihnat cast doubt that a Kinzhal was downed, with statement claiming: “There was a possibility of [Kinzhal’s] use, but no ballistic missiles were recorded.”

But then on Saturday, Ukrainian Air Force commander Mykola Oleshchuk finally confirmed on a Telegram post the "historic event": one of the UAF's new Patriot missiles had indeed downed the "unparalleled" Kinzhal. He noted the Kinzhal had been launched from over Russian airspace by a MiG-31K fighter, and admonished the media for reporting the incident in advance of his confirmation.

Some sources allege Ukraine’s military initially cast doubt on the kill because it didn't want Russia to know it could down Kinzhal missiles or that a Patriot battery was active in Kyiv, and was frustrated when the news leaked.

As the U.S. and other nations try to end the Russian war in Ukraine, there has been a renewed focus on Russian President Putin. Who is he, where did he come from and what does he want? Andrew Weiss tries to answer those questions in his new graphic novel with art by Brian Box Brown called, "Accidental Czar: The Life and Lies of Vladimir Putin." Weiss joined Nick Schifrin to share his perspective.

Putin's Ally Slams Russia Over Broken Promises On Ammunition For 'Starving' Mercenaries In Ukraine

Vladimir Putin’s ally and the chief of the Wagner Group slammed Moscow after he said his mercenaries had not yet received the ammunition Russia had promised.

What Happened: Hours after saying they had started receiving the ammunition based on initial data, Yevgeny Prigozhin took a sharp U-turn slamming Putin's administration for not sending the promised ammunition, reported Reuters.

Wagner Group, whose private mercenaries have spent months trying to capture Ukraine's Bakhmut, earlier this month threatened to pull out after being starved of ammunition and suffering “useless and unjustified” losses as a result.

Prigozhin said he did not want to “spoil” Russia’s big Victory Day parade and would reveal more details afterward. “The people who were supposed to fulfill the (shipment) orders have so far, over the past day, not fulfilled them,” Prigozhin said in a video post on Telegram.

Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin says Russian troops are running away from the front lines and threatens to spill more details if Putin doesn't send ammunition

The boss of the Wagner Group said Russian troops fled from the front lines of the war in Ukraine.

Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin made the claims in a scathing video posted on Tuesday.

"They all fled and opened up a front almost two kilometers wide and 500 meters deep," he said.
