Quote: Fired AP Reporter Who 'Risked Triggering WWIII' Actually Did Nothing Wrong Wednesday, Nov 23, 2022 - 04:20 PM On Tuesday we [and many other] reported that the Associated Press had fired reporter James LaPorta, two days before his birthday, over an erroneous report which cited a 'senior US intelligence official,' who claimed that a Russian missile fired into Poland had killed two civilians. If true, the bombshell development could have potentially triggered 'Article 5' - the mutual defense agreement between NATO members, risking WWIII. AP later retracted the story after it was revealed that Ukraine fired the missile, and the outlet issued the following correction which pinned blame on the anonymous intelligence official: * In earlier versions of a story published November 15, 2022, The Associated Press reported erroneously, based on information from a senior American intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity, that Russian missiles had crossed into Poland and killed two people. Subsequent reporting showed that the missiles were Russian-made and most likely fired by Ukraine in defense against a Russian attack.* Five days after the report, LaPorta was fired. But Slack messages obtained by Semafor reveal that he did nothing wrong - aside from working for AP in the first place. The messages begin with LaPorta passing along a tip from a "senior American intelligence official" who was "vetted by Ron Nixon." Nixon is an Associated Press vice president. Via Semafor Next, editor Lisa Leff asked if the wire service could run with the narrative despite having a single source - which is against AP's rules for anonymous sources. "that call is above my pay grade," LaPorta replied. Another AP reporter, Vanessa Gera, suggests moving forward with the report, writing, "I can't imagine a US intelligence official would be wrong on this." Leff then asks LaPorta if he is "in position to work up an urgent" - to which he replies, "No, I'm actually at a doctor's appointment. What I passed is all I know at the moment." Then, Gera and Leff decide to run with it. In short, LaPorta - a former USMC infantryman, was fired after forwarding a tip from a vetted source, and then demurring when asked if he thought they should run with it. He has since been ordered not to comment on the situation, saying that he "would love to comment on the record, but I have been ordered by the AP to not comment." As such, Zero Hedge has not reached out for comment. Oddly (or maybe there's a perfectly good reason for it), journalist John Leichester's name was also on the byline of the article in question despite being nowhere in the slack conversation - though he wasn't fired. * While LaPorta said Nixon had vetted his source, Nixon later said he did not know that the source was being cited for the missile story, according to people who spoke to David Bauder, an Associated Press reporter. The Associated Press has taken additional disciplinary action but declined to say against whom that action was taken. There have been no reports of any person besides LaPorta losing a job, including John Leicester, who was also listed on the byline. According to Bauder, Leicester was not involved with the anonymously sourced material being placed into the story. -The Epoch Times* Most importantly, however, who was the anonymous 'senior US intelligence official' that fed LaPorta a false narrative which risked WWIII?

Did you ever wonder how Russia did poorly with all the land and people it has? Since most Russians can't compare Russia to other countries, Russians will never sense what is wrong, will they? But Russia can keep falling in the same way North Korea keeps falling behind South Korea. North Korea handles that by making it a crime to know. North Korea has the world’s fourth-largest military, with more than 1.2 million personnel, and is believed to possess chemical and biological weapons. While it remains among the poorest countries in the world, North Korea spends nearly a quarter of its gross domestic product (GDP) on its military. https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/north-korea-nuclear-weapons-missile-tests-military-capabilities The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at https://www.mediafire.com/two

Quote:Alexander told the Sénat that the Allies were fighting against Napoleon, not France, and they were prepared to offer honourable peace terms if Napoleon were removed from power. The next day, the Sénat passed the Acte de déchéance de l'Empereur ("Emperor's Demise Act"), which declared Napoleon deposed. Napoleon had advanced as far as Fontainebleau when he learned that Paris had fallen. When Napoleon proposed the army march on the capital, his senior officers and marshals mutinied.[206] On 4 April, led by Ney, the senior officers confronted Napoleon. When Napoleon asserted the army would follow him, Ney replied the army would follow its generals. While the ordinary soldiers and regimental officers wanted to fight on, the senior commanders were unwilling to continue. Without any senior officers or marshals, any prospective invasion of Paris would have been impossible. Bowing to the inevitable, on 4 April Napoleon abdicated in favour of his son, with Marie Louise as regent. However, the Allies refused to accept this under prodding from Alexander, who feared that Napoleon might find an excuse to retake the throne.[207][208] Napoleon was then forced to announce his unconditional abdication only two days later.[208]

(Ukraine may not be in NATO, but NATO us in Ukraine.) More bullshit from SECOND.Russia has murdered 61,911,000 people from 1917 to 1987. You and Russians may think history will restart anew Monday morning when everything that happened before is canceled out by your amnesia and stupidity, but the rest of the world, including Ukrainians, don't forget. A helpful reminder: R.J. Rummel, Lethal Politics - Soviet Genocide and Mass Murder since 1917 (Published 1990) While there are estimates of the number of people killed by Soviet authorities during particular episodes or campaigns, until now, no one has tried to calculate the complete human toll of Soviet genocides and mass murders since the revolution of 1917. Here, R. J. Rummel lists and analyzes hundreds of published estimates, presenting them in the historical context in which they occurred. His shocking conclusion is that, conservatively calculated, 61,911,000 people were systematically killed by the Communist regime from 1917 to 1987. https://www.amazon.com/Lethal-Politics-Soviet-Genocide-Murder/dp/1560008873/ Preface This book is part of a project on government genocide and mass killing in this century. The aim is to test the hypothesis that the citizens of democracies are the least likely to be murdered by their own governments; the citizens of totalitarian, especially Marxist systems, the most likely. The theory is that democratic systems provide a path to peace, and universalizing them would eliminate war and minimize global political violence. This was the conclusion of my Understanding Conflict and War,' and has been further confirmed by systematic, empirical tests since. In the process of that research, I discovered that governments have murdered tens of millions of their own citizens, and that in some cases, the death toll may have actually exceeded that of World War II. To get some idea of the numbers involved, I surveyed the extent of genocide and mass killing by governments since 1900. The results were shocking: according to these first figures—independent of war and other kinds of conflict—governments probably have murdered 119,400,000 people—Marxist governments about 95,200,000 of them. By comparison, the battle-killed in all foreign and domestic wars in this century total 35,700,000. These monstrous statistics sharply reoriented my research. For more than thirty years as a political scientist and peace researcher, I had focused my research on the causes and conditions of war, conflict, and peace. I had believed that war was the greatest killer and that nuclear war would be a global holocaust. Now I have found that the total killed by government in cold blood was almost four times that of war. It was as though a nuclear war had already occurred. Download all R.J.
