Quote: Ukraine Civilians Wait In Long Lines For Fresh Water As Infrastructure Destroyed Wednesday, Nov 02, 2022 - 02:45 AM There is an old lesson of warfare that says "never believe your own propaganda." After the initial Russian strikes against Ukraine's power grids and infrastructure the general narrative was that Russian cruise missiles and drones were ineffective, inaccurate and that the country's utilities would be back up and running in no time. The message was [reminiscent] of previous propaganda out of Ukraine [and the USA- SIGNY] which requires constant theatrics of impending victory. As long as they act as if they are winning, billions in NATO dollars will continue to flow. Russian tactics were decidedly restrained in the early months of the conflict, with the Kremlin mostly avoiding precision attacks on vital resources, including power, water and internet. This is a departure from traditional military doctrine, which the US followed when it invaded Iraq and decimated vast segments of their grid utilities at the onset of the war. The Russian pull-back to lines in the Donbas region was a clear indication that their strategy was about to change and that wider strikes were inevitable. Now, Ukraine's grid amenities are being systematically destroyed, and it is reported that Ukrainians in major cities like Kyiv are lining up for blocks daily just to fill a few meager jugs with fresh water at city well pumps. The lack of access to utilities changes the dynamics of the war drastically. With winter looming, millions of civilians will face cold months without electric heat, light or easy access to water and food. The predictable end result of this will likely be a flood of refugees into Europe.

Quote: Deconstructing Western Delusions on Ukraine and Russia 3 November 2022 by Larry Johnson 153 Comments Do you remember trying to comprehend the emphatic denial by Iraq’s “Baghdad Bob” (i.e. Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf) in March 2003 that there were no U.S. troops nor tanks in Baghdad? Most of the cable news networks juxtaposed Bob’s claim with live film of tanks rolling through the streets. Looking foolish was the least of his problems. Made me wonder what would lead a man of education and experience to so fiercely embrace a lie. The world witnessed the same phenomenon with Adolf Hitler during his final days in his bunker beneath the rubble strewn streets of Berlin. Then comes Ukraine and Russia’s “Special Military Operation” and the spirit of Baghdad Bob is being channeled through a host of politicians, pundits and erstwhile experts. The following is an example (I am declining to name the writer to minimize further embarrassment to him) of the Baghdad Bob delusion: * Russia right now is under extreme stress and Russian leaders are tense and unhappy. The operation in Ukraine has not only ground to a halt, but Russia continues to suffer agonizing losses of men and material. It has had to make secret deals with Iran and North Korea to have enough ammunition and supplies to stay in the war. Its home industry is too tardy and underfunded to be able to keep up with demands for urgent production of war goods. It has run out of soldiers, drafting middle age and older men and yanking prisoners from confinement to serve on the two main fronts of the Ukraine conflict. None of this has seemed to work. Every day Russia makes more military blunders and Putin has just fired one of his top commanders, General Alexander Lapin. While Russian opinion polls (which may be fake) claim Putin is still popular, he is facing a grim future if the losses turn into a complete route and the Russians have to evacuate Ukraine. In fact, Russian commanders are now preparing to evacuate the important city of Kherson, claiming that it is of no importance (which is complete nonsense).* The gentleman who wrote the preceding paragraph is well educated, well spoken and a veteran of the U.S. Department of Defense. I have known him for a short time and know that he is not a liar. What stuns me is that he genuinely believes this. Maybe we should call this “Flat Earth Syndrome?” It consists of embracing as fact assertions that are contradicted by actual evidence. I want to deconstruct some of his claims. *The operation in Ukraine has not only ground to a halt, but Russia continues to suffer agonizing losses of men and material.* The objective reality is that Russia has stepped up its aerial campaign and has destroyed critical power and energy nodes throughout Ukraine. How does that translate into “ground to a halt?” It is true that neither the Russians nor the Ukrainians have been able to move very far or very fast on the ground during the last three weeks. But that is because the fields and dirt roads are mud pits. If you want to move overland in Ukraine you need to be on a paved road and, if you do that, you make yourself a prime target for artillery and air strikes. Despite the rain soaked ground, Russian forces have continued to advance in the Donetsk, albeit slowly. What about the “agonizing losses of men and material?” Last I checked it is Ukraine, not Russia, that is begging for more cowbell from the United States and NATO. And Ukraine is so short of able bodied soldiers that the mobilization that started in March was extended to November 21. Not my opinion, that is the claim of a Ukrainian official in charge of “recruitment” made just last week (October 24): *The Ukrainian army needs additional troops so all men under 60, who are liable for military service, should expect draft notices, head of the Kiev City Center for Recruitment and Social Support Yury Maximov said. “There is a need for additional [troops]. We need to increase our potential,” he said in an interview with the TSN news agency. “Clearly, we must have enough defense troops. I believe that the mobilization campaign will continue,” Maximov added. . . Martial law was imposed in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The next day, the State Border Service announced a prohibition on Ukrainian men aged between 18 and 60 from leaving the country until martial law was over. In August, the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) once again extended martial law and a general mobilization campaign for 90 days, until November 21. https://tass.com/world/1526665* Russia, by contrast, has had one mobilization and just announced it had been completed. If you want to see how desperate the West is to control this narrative just do a google search with the terms “Ukraine” and “Mobilization.” The vast majority of the results are stories about Russian mobilization. You really have to dig deep to find the facts about Ukraine’s staggering losses. What about this claim? * Every day Russia makes more military blunders and Putin has just fired one of his top commanders, General Alexander Lapin. While Russian opinion polls (which may be fake) claim Putin is still popular, he is facing a grim future if the losses turn into a complete route and the Russians have to evacuate Ukraine.* I have discussed in an earlier piece that the appointment of General Surovikin represented a shift in Russia’s approach to the Special Military Operation. Surovikin was named Supreme Allied Commander and given control of all Russian forces in Ukraine. Before he assumed that position the commanders in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporhyzhia operated independently. How is Ukraine supposed to force Russia to retreat without robust, effective combat air, guaranteed supplies of artillery shells and an ample tank force, not to mention healthy soldiers to operate these weapon systems? The answer is simple–they won’t and they can’t. The Ukrainian armed forces are degraded severely today compared to what they could put on the field of battle on February 24th. I challenge anyone to make the case that Ukraine is stronger, more capable today than they were eight months ago. The foolish analysis I highlighted above is but a symptom of a sickness that has infected the West (and I am not talking about Covid). The descent of the West into the thicket of lies is not confined to indulging fantasies about the military situation Ukraine. The corrupted culture of the West also proselytizes that there are more than two genders, that men can be pregnant, and that windmills and solar panels are sufficient to power modern societies. Hell, we were told the Covid vaccine would keep people from getting Covid. I think the underlying cause for the delusional thinking that dominates Western economics, politics, medicine and popular culture is that the West has adopted a rigid, intolerant ideology that is reminiscent of the intellectual sclerosis rooted in Marxism that led to the death of the Soviet Union. The Russian people learned some hard truths in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet empire. I believe that the people of the United States and Europe are going to experience a similar rude awakening. And it won’t be pretty. What do you think? Why are so many smart people embracing objectively false narratives?

Quote: Rickards: A Bodyguard Of Lies Saturday, Nov 05, 2022 - 07:30 PM Authored by James Rickards The all-important midterm elections are just one week away. I’ve said a lot about them, and will have more to say about them in the days to come. But today, I want to talk about something even more important: truth vs. official lies. More specifically, I want to talk about truth and propaganda. It’s said that truth is the first casualty of war. And Churchill once said that in wartime, truth is so precious that it needs to be surrounded by a bodyguard of lies. That’s why propaganda plays such a large role in modern warfare. The fact is wars are conducted in part through lies and propaganda. For example, in the early days of World War I, the British cut the undersea communications cables that ran from Germany to the U.S. The British wanted to control the flow of information and issue what we call today “misinformation.” And so they created inflammatory accounts of German atrocities to sway public opinion, like German soldiers skewering Belgian babies on bayonets. While there will always be individual acts of atrocity in wartime, these reports were largely propaganda. Here in the U.S. itself, President Wilson had special police forces who arrested anyone reporting negative news on the progress of the war. Sound familiar? **** It’s like the social media companies today canceling or censoring anyone who reports that the vaccines don’t work or masks don’t work. The media call it “misinformation” (even though it’s scientifically valid) and move on. The same is true with the war in Ukraine. The propaganda machine kicked into overdrive early on. Bodyguard of Lies The CIA and MI6 leaked a steady stream of anti-Russian lies to prop up morale. These lies were reprinted in warmonger media outlets like The Washington Post, The New York Times and NBC News. That means it’s almost impossible for U.S. citizens to get the real story through mainstream media outlets. Still, there is some honest reporting going in if you know where to find it. You just have to filter the sources and find those with good pipelines of information (including inside the government) who do not have a hidden agenda and are willing to speak the truth. It’s not necessary to rely on Russian sources (the Russians are certainly not above propaganda, although they’re generally more truthful than the U.S. media, believe it or not). There are excellent analyses to be found among Swiss sources, German experts who are not in favor of the war and some on-the-ground reporting from the front lines on specialist websites. Get Ready for the Russian Counteroffensive Some of the best sources are found among retired U.S. military officers who are experts on warfare, still have good contacts inside the military and intelligence communities, and who consider the war in Ukraine to be highly detrimental to U.S. national security and the economy. One top commentator who fits this description is Colonel (Ret.) Douglas Macgregor, who wrote a recent commentary about the war. Macgregor points out that Russia is preparing for a full-scale counterattack to roll-back recent Ukrainian gains near the Donbas and Kherson. The Russians have been consolidating their positions: resupplying, mobilizing troops, and preparing for winter warfare at which they excel. It’s just a matter of waiting for the ground to freeze so trucks and armor can maneuver without getting bogged down. The attack could come as early as November or December at the latest. Yet, that is not Macgregor’s main concern. Is the 101st Airborne Division Being Used as Bait? His fear is that the U.S. will double down in the face of this attack and deploy U.S. troops to the battle. The Pentagon recently deployed units of the 101st Airborne Division to Romania, just miles from its border with Ukraine. Airborne forces are generally light infantry that lack the firepower of, say, armored units or mechanized infantry. But if these forces did get directly involved in the fighting, heavier reinforcements would be on the way. From there, it could be a short step to nuclear war with Russia. To some, that might sound unrealistic or even paranoid. They’ll say it’s just scare-mongering. But this is a legitimate possibility, and there’s a real chance of it happening. The fact is, we’ve been on the path of escalation with Russia since 2008 and the tempo of escalation has accelerated since the war began in February. All experts on nuclear warfighting agree that if a nuclear war begins, it will be the result of escalation to the point that one side feels it is cornered and has no choice but to use nukes. That point is getting closer by the day. Macgregor calls on Congress to stop the White House, but he’s not optimistic that’ll happen. Nuclear War? It’s Not the End of the World The possibility of nuclear war between the U.S. and Russia is a shocking development after thirty years, during which nuclear weapons and nuclear war between superpowers were almost forgotten. What is as disconcerting is the fact that the discussion of nuclear war is casual, almost flippant, and carries none of the seriousness with which the topic was formerly addressed. It also carries no comprehension of the existential consequences and sheer horror that the use of nuclear weapons entails. It’s almost as if the warmongers in and around the White House were playing a game of chicken without realizing the other driver had no intention of changing course. Now the U.S. elites have started psychological operations (psyops) aimed at Putin with nuclear weapons as the bait. They claim that Putin has threatened to use tactical weapons in Ukraine and possibly other parts of Eastern and Central Europe. That’s a lie; Putin never said that. When asked, both Putin and Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev said that if attacked, Russia would defend itself by all means necessary, including the possible use of nuclear weapons. That’s not news. That has been Russian or Soviet policy since the early 1950s. It has also been U.S. policy since then. Neither side has ever renounced the first use of nuclear weapons. Putin’s expected answer to a question posed has been turned into a threat he never made. This is U.S. and UK propaganda at its worst (and most dangerous). This lie about Putin’s intentions quickly morphed into another psyop about a “false flag” operation. That’s when you stage an attack disguised to look like an attack by your enemy in order to justify your own “retaliation,” which you were planning all along. Recently, the narrative that Putin would use nukes or conduct a false flag operation morphed into a related narrative that Putin would use a “dirty bomb.” He Said, He Said In effect, Putin would detonate a dirty bomb and then blame the Ukrainians and Americans. A dirty bomb is not a nuclear weapon, but it does employ radioactive material wrapped around conventional explosives. When detonated, the radioactive material is dispersed and can poison or kill any people or livestock in the area. Not to be outdone, the Russians countered by saying the U.S. or Ukraine would conduct the false flag by detonating a dirty bomb and then blaming the Russians as an excuse to escalate Western involvement in Ukraine. At this point, we have both sides warning the other side will conduct a false flag with a dirty bomb in order to justify their own pre-planned escalation. If a dirty bomb does go off, each side will blame the other and the truth will be a casualty of war. Meanwhile, a senior Russian foreign ministry official has warned that U.S. satellites, which have been providing critical targeting information to Ukraine’s armed forces, may be “legitimate” targets of Russian forces. How would the U.S. respond if Russia starts taking out its satellites? We may soon find out. Is Your Portfolio Ready for Nukes? By the way, I’m not apologizing for Putin or defending his invasion of Ukraine. I’m just looking at the current situation and objectively analyzing where things could go next, based upon the facts. And I’m not making a specific prediction; I’m just giving you a warning because the media doesn’t seem to want to. It might seem like an inappropriate question given the potential for widespread death and destruction, but is your portfolio ready for nukes? In a nuclear confrontation, stocks and bonds could become worthless as exchanges are closed around the world. At best, they will retain some value as illiquid private equity tokens. The best assets in this catastrophic scenario are land, gold, silver, food, water, and heat for your home. Nothing else will matter much.

The Defense Department is setting up a new command to oversee how the United States and its allies train and equip the Ukrainian military, the Pentagon announced on Friday . . . The latest announcement brings to $18.9 billion the amount in military assistance that the United States has committed to Ukraine since Russia invaded on Feb. 24. The funds comprise a combination of immediate shipments from stockpiles as well as contracts for weapons to be delivered over the next three years. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/04/world/europe/ukraine-biden-pentagon-military-assistance.html The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at https://www.mediafire.com/two

That's three times the amount of money that it would take to end world hunger according to Leftists on Twitter. -------------------------------------------------- Falsus in unum, falsus in omnibusTo stop Putin's insane plans for the world, $18.9 billion will be spent over a span of three years and that money goes to Americans. Meanwhile, estimates of how much money it would take to end world hunger range from $7 billion to $265 billion per year. Most of that money will not go to Americans. Why such a big range? Because experts disagree about how to end world hunger. https://www.globalgiving.org/learn/how-much-would-it-cost-to-end-world-hunger/ "We need $40 billion dollars per year" -- the U.N. World Food Programme https://www.wfpusa.org/articles/how-much-would-it-cost-to-end-world-hunger/ From 1940 through 1996, the USA spent nearly $5.5 trillion ($5,500 billion) on nuclear weapons and weapons-related programs, in constant 1996 dollars. That was only because of Russia. If you are not aware, Putin has repeatedly threatened to nuke the USA in the last week. Putin would have already done it for real if the $5,500 billion had not been spent to stop him. Compared to $5,500 billion, another $18.9 billion is a very small investment to continue stopping Putin's insane plans for the world. https://www.brookings.edu/the-hidden-costs-of-our-nuclear-arsenal-overview-of-project-findings/ The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at https://www.mediafire.com/two

All of it is wasted money.Ukrainians killing Russians is the only thing stopping Putin from invading the world. The high world prices of oil and natural gas? That was all Putin's plan to make Russia rich by restricting the supply. Putin sells fewer BTUs of energy to the world but he makes more money, which he would have used to expand his army to take over the world. But for now, Putin can't expand so long as Ukrainians keep killing his army. Putin has told Russians over and over and over that they deserve to rule the world. That is the Putin plan the Ukrainians are, for the moment, interfering with. The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at https://www.mediafire.com/two
