They were expecting hours. It may be days or weeks. Im sorry too, JSF. Was she on a ventilator, or just O2 by nose? I'm surprised they didn't try a clot-busting drug. They use it for heart attacks and strokes, why not for her? In any case, when you visit, talk to her. Read to her. Hold her hand. Bring her perfume that you know she likes, if any. She won't feel so alone, and even when sight fails sound, touch, and smell remain. If there really is no hope, you want her to be as peaceful as possible, so comfort her in whatever way you can. Hubby has a woodworking table saw and he's seriously thinking of getting rid of it. So if you have a good substitute let me know what I can look for online just to get an idea of what's available.

Yeah. Portable-ish. The only problem is that if you don't make it stay put then it might want to float on the ground depending on how big a piece you're working with. The 300+ lb Craftsman does no such thing. This Skilsaw one I have comes with the legs, but they make portable ones that you put on a table or workbench. I know a guy who has a DeWalt like that and he always puts a board on horses to seat it. It weighs more than my Skilsaw and doesn't even have legs. I don't know what they'd be called, but you'd probably find them in a google search. My step dad gave me this one when he didn't take it when they moved.

I used to hire people to watch our dear daughter after school, and I didn't think the paperwork was all THAT complicated. Maybe its different in Canada. But all I had to do was pay state taxes quarterly, and pay the Federal Household Help taxes with annual income taxes. Of course, being a doctor, if she has (had?) her own practice instead of being on staff with an institution she would have to handle the business end of her taxes too. Anyway, here's hoping she figures it out in your favor. ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake

She also feels like she can handle all her cooking and baking herself now. So, it is just play it by ear. If she calls me to come and do something then I will go but I'm not really of a mind to phone her. She tried to fob the paperwork off on me and I said no. From the website for Canada it does seem to involve a bit more. She pulled up the Government website while I was there and started looking at it. There is provincial stuff and federal stuff on it.

Too bad we live so far away, Brenda. Unless you've got some more involved things that I'm not privy to, your taxes probably aren't super complex. I'd say that in the 20 or so years I've done my own that there were probably only 3 years that were complex, especially when I bought the house and moved a lot of money around to do it. I used to really enjoy doing taxes, but I think as the years go by I've gotten bored of doing them. But I enjoyed helping my Aunt get hers done this year. It was the first time I'd done somebody else's since my brother got married. I did his for years before that, but I told him that they'd need to get an accountant because I didn't want to know how much his wife made once they started filing jointly. -------------------------------------------------- Me: "Remember Covid?" Went over to my grandma's and had dinner there and ended up staying overnight again. I brought my limb cutter and cut away a few trashcans worth of limbs from a tree that was right up against the house, then I went and got the same ant bait that I used a few years back to take care of her ant problem that is starting to get out of control. Just overnight it was amazing how many we got. I had no idea her problem had gotten that bad. Should be taken care of in a day or two now. Helped my aunt get her new A/C into her apartment and will be going back one day soon to install it for her. When I got back home I got about another $140 worth of free after rebate stuff that I paid for with a rebate so there wasn't any sales tax. More good stuff to give away as gifts. Another few good days. -------------------------------------------------- Me: "Remember Covid?" Useless Idiots: "What's Covid, durr? Russia, Ukraine, Putin, NATO *drool*. DURRRR!!!!"

I was actually thinking about my other grandma today who passed away around 7 years ago now. She was quite a bit better off than this grandma, but she was always offering me some money to come out and fix this or that or paint this or that for her when she had no problem paying pros to do the work. I know she just wanted to see me instead of talking o the phone like we frequently did. I rarely ever made it out there because I rarely ever made it out of my house because of the drinking. I try not thinking about it too much because you can't go back and it makes me sad. A part of me just really hopes she sees me now and is smiling. I'm not making all the right choices now, but I'm really trying. -------------------------------------------------- Me: "Remember Covid?" Useless Idiots: "What's Covid, durr? Now that you've been forced to do it for a while, maybe you should just keep using the stairs? Especially at 10 flights, that's a nice little work out that you can force on yourself if it's something you feel is manageable. -------------------------------------------------- Me: "Remember Covid?" To get to the pharmacy I use for my meds I take the bus there and back. When I am working I walk there and back. I only walk the 10 flights of stairs in my building when I have to as it is quite a strain on me when I have to carry things, like my laundry yesterday. And the last time it was groceries back in. I am taking it easy today and hitting the shower in a bit to get some hot water to ease my slightly sore muscles.
