The # of confirmed case in the USA for the past two-three days has topped out at approx +400/day. But there STILL isn't widespread testing available! So possibly this topping-out reflects the number of tests that can be performed. The CDC is promising it will have the testing snafu worked out ... any day now...!

Saving Wisconsinites from the horrors of California.

On Friday, the WI cases jumped from 7 to 18 active, 19 total.

Skeletor Gov Evers has announced he will close all schools in WI, both public and private, but at this critical time he needs to give them 5 more days to infect as many others as possible, so school closing will start next week on Wednesday.

New cases reported Friday:
1 more in Dane Co - UW-Madison Vet School person who just returned from a country with widespread cases.
2 in Milwaukee Co - the first (downtown) had close contact with another confirmed case, the second (North Shore) had just traveled in Europe, had close contact with a confirmed case.
1 in Racine Co (south border of Milwaukee Co) - just traveled internationally.
3 in Sheboygan Co (east border of FDL Co, 2 counties north of Milwaukee).
4 more in Fond Du Lac Co.

WI still has no identified cases of "community spread" - just some cases from States with community spread.

I heard rumor that 3 of the new FDL cases were in Oshkosh. That would be the southern city of the Fox Cities which populate the north end of Lake Winnebago (such as Appleton, Menasha, Neenah, Kimberly, Kaukauna, Greenville, Grand Chute) - and which extend to within 6 miles of Green Bay.

If there has been reports of an 8-week incubation period, or even a 6-week incubation period, then this report has slipped past me.

So all of the current known cases in WI are from these jackholes who travel to countries to get infected with the virus, then sneak back into WI without following any of the rules - such as self-quarantine, for instance - so they can infect as many of their friends, family, coworkers, neighbors as possible.

These people should be thrown into a concentration camp together so they can all just die, like they deserve.

IT DIDN'T HAVE TO COME TO THIS

ROME – “As in any war, we have to choose who to treat and who not.”

That was a headline on March 9 in Il Corriere della Sera, a leading newspaper in Italy, that informed us that hospitals in Italy’s north, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in our country, were being stretched thin and the health care system was on the brink of collapse.

An anesthesiologist at a hospital in Bergamo, one of the cities with the most cases of Covid-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus, told the paper that the intensive care unit was already at capacity, and doctors were being forced to start making difficult triage decisions, admitting people who desperately need mechanical ventilation based on age, life expectancy, and other factors. Just like in wartime. The article was inexplicably placed on page 15, while the main headline on the newspaper’s front page relayed the political quarrels over the measures to curb the contagion.

The hospital in Bergamo was not the only hospital in the area dealing with a lack of capacity and rationing of care. The same day, I heard from a manager in the Lombardy health care system, among the most advanced and well-funded in Europe, that he saw anesthesiologists weeping in the hospital hallways because of the choices they are going to have to make.

In the days since, overwhelmed hospitals have set up tents as makeshift hospital wards, and cargo containers have been placed at the entrances of medical centers to sort out patients coming at an increasing pace. Some of the people who can’t get medical care are dying in their homes.

As more medical professionals started to describe similar situations on social media and in interviews, the Italian society of anesthesiologists published extraordinary new guidelines to help doctors facing ethical dilemmas, making clear that the “first come, first served” criterion that had been used among patients with the same illnesses and level of risk in ordinary times was not appropriate in dealing with the current emergency.

Until last week, the Italian public health care system had the capacity to care for everyone. Our country has universal health care, so patients aren’t turned away from hospitals here. But in a matter of days, the system was being felled by a virus that I, and many other Italians, had failed to take seriously.

The inability of the medical system to deal with the flow of patients in critical condition is not one of the problems of this complex medical emergency. It is the problem. I shouldn’t have been surprised. As a journalist, I had read, heard, and spoken to several experts explaining that the most immediate threat of Covid-19 was the hospital system becoming overwhelmed, and therefore the most pressing need was to avoid too many people getting sick at the same time, as resources are limited. (It’s what’s called “flattening the curve.”)

But that information was somehow stored in some remote interstice of my mind, covered by an incessant flow of bits and charts on the mortality rate of the elderly, political mismanagement, quarrels over under-testing and over-testing, market collapses, projections on the economic impact of the epidemic, and so on. All of this is, of course, extremely relevant — but at the same time feels totally irrelevant when lives are being lost in a situation that was preventable. As of Friday night, 1,266 people have died in Italy due to the outbreak.

So here’s my warning for the United States: It didn’t have to come to this.

We of course couldn’t stop the emergence of a previously unknown and deadly virus. But we could have mitigated the situation we are now in, in which people who could have been saved are dying. I, and too many others, could have taken a simple yet morally loaded action: We could have stayed home.

What has happened in Italy shows that less-than-urgent appeals to the public by the government to slightly change habits regarding social interactions aren’t enough when the terrible outcomes they are designed to prevent are not yet apparent; when they become evident, it’s generally too late to act. I and many other Italians just didn’t see the need to change our routines for a threat we could not see.

Italy has now been in lockdown since March 9; it took weeks after the virus first appeared here to realize that severe measures were absolutely necessary.

According to several data scientists, Italy is about 10 days ahead of Spain, Germany, and France in the epidemic progression, and 13 to 16 days ahead of the United Kingdom and the United States.

In two weeks or so we will either be at the point of a complete breakdown in medical care... or we won't. It depends on what we do.
Quote:

That means those countries have the opportunity to take measures that today may look excessive and disproportionate, yet from the future, where I am now, are perfectly rational in order to avoid a health care system collapse. The United States has some 45,000 ICU beds, and even in a moderate outbreak scenario, some 200,000 Americans will need intensive care.

Random observations.

Even here in Green Bay, I hear everybody talking about the stores out of TP. Last evening I went to Dollar Tree for some stuff, and noticed the paper aisle was not empty. Not overflowing and falling onto the floor from the shelves, but the shelves were not barre. Gobs of gallons of bleach as well.

Our 3 Walmarts and 3 largest grocery stores are now closing at night just so they can stock the shelves.

I know some kids who work at these places, and word is that the warehouses are stuffed with TP, but the truck drivers are refusing to deliver them, the stores cannot get any truck drivers who will transport the product. I don't know if this is fact, but several folk have said this is the case. supposedly they are afraid of getting hijacked with a trailer full of TP. This is tickling my ridiculous bone, but maybe it is true.

Dairy does not get delivered once per week. Even the smallest convenience stores get it every 2-3 days bigger ones every day. If the store opens at 5 am, the milk delivery is within an hour after that. Yes, I have seen many weeks in a row when a store will be out of milk within 12 hours of delivery, but getting there before noon should fix your problem, unless everybody who is sitting at home has solved this puzzle, which I doubt. If the warehouse/dairy producer is out of milk, that is a different thing, but I expect they can overcome this difficulty.

Folks keep saying Purell is able to kill the virus. But I looked at a bottle today, and nowhere does it say that it has any alcohol in it, let alone a percentage. If it doesn't say it has any alcohol, does it still have it? Seems a goofy lack of labeling.

I'd like to point out a possible summary or outlook. This may be controversial, and perhaps even 6ix may disagree.

I will specify several assumptions as baseline. If these concepts are disruptive to your chosen religion, please do not bother reading past it.

1. Human Immunodeficiency Virus exists, and has for centuries.
2. HIV does not cause AIDS, in the Real World.
3. HIV is spreadable thru intimate contact, such as fluid exchange.
4. COVID-19 has 4 insertions of section of HIV sequence spliced into the DNA/RNA. 3 of the insertions are from one strain of HIV, and one insertion is from another strain of HIV. These insertions spliced into the genome of COVID-19 provide for great recognition and docking characteristics for the virus to infect human host cells.

If all of the above is true, it is foreseeable that COVID-19 will enjoy widespread infection of the human population.
It will become common, like the common cold or common flu.
With known cases, America has proven that it can be controlled and treated - the problems in America have been the unknown cases, the community spread cases, the cases that CDC refused to test for until autopsy.
In America, the known and treated cases have had a ZERO percent fatality rate. The only deaths are from those who carried the virus for a while before getting tested, and mostly also infected others as well. None of the cases that we airlifted in have perished, nor have they infected others once here.

So, Like HIV, it can spread easily, but with a larger target population than HIV. Spread of HIV does not cause a spread of AIDS, and spread of COVID-19 might not cause a spread of raging deaths, unless they are untreated.
More than 80% of those infected with COVID-19 are merely carriers (and are apparently under age 80). They do not get violently ill, critically or seriously ill. An overburdened Health care system does not need to deal with these mild cases.
The seriously ill can get the therapy needed, and then once over it, on to the next case.

How many of these, what percent of the population which become serious cases, and whether they health care system can, if triaged properly, handle them, is not yet answered. This could be overburdening, but then it will have passed, perhaps.

I'm not sure how much of this will play out, but it seems a possibility.
Hope I explained it well enough.

Looks like I did not specifically state that the asymptomatic are driving the spread. Bu that is part of what I was trying to put forth, although I called them "carriers" instead. I am NOT saying that kiki has not already mentioned it before, I was just trying to put it all together.

I did not elaborate that I feel the community spread is not any real mystery, it likely came from all of those who traveled from Wuhan in December and January, and encouraged to spread as much a possible with the CDC refusing to test patients with the virus. Unless, of course, the virus originated in U.S. before traveling to Wuhan - and just misdiagnosed widely in America. I do not have any special evidence of this community spread theory, just an overview observation of the numbers.

I expect this is nothing new for her. I expect she has encouraged full Government Control at every opportunity, and every turn. More Government control. Bigger Government. Expand Government. Government good, honest working folk bad. She has been a Democrat for a very long time, been a devout follower of all required facets of the Democrat religion, and has chosen to spend her life in a Democrat hellhole. No need to ride anybody right now, this is what they have believed all of their lives.

As the DNC (Does Not Care) party mantra goes, never let a good crisis go to waste - get more Government Control out of it, More Government funding, Bigger Government, more expansive Government.

As for Nationalized Health Care, Universal Health Care, Government Health Care, etc - this is what the vaunted Italian system is, and they have 1/3 o the ICU beds per capita as the U.S. does. Their Death Panels are overwhelmed with decisions of who to kill and who to treat. Their individual hospitals are overwhelmed with death decisions of who to kill or let die, every floor of these hospitals is overwhelmed with who to kill, and each doctor or specialist is overwhelmed with decisions of who to kill - socialized Health Care is the Utopian model. They also mentioned that some specific hospitals in their nationalized system (like Lombardy) are even more better funded and equipped than other hospitals in the same system - where everything is equal.

STILL????

C'mon, CDC, get off your bureaucratic asses and get on the ball!

Quote:

In order to be prioritized for testing, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises that one must have a fever, cough or difficulty breathing as well as have been in close contact with a person known to have coronavirus. Or, they had to "have a history of travel from affected geographic areas within 14 days of their symptom onset."

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/12/us/coronavirus-testing-problems-nationw
ide-invs/index.html

If we have a problem, we need to know. If we DON'T have a problem, we need to know. NOTHING is gained by not testing; the only thing that results is confusion and either inaction or inappropriate action.

Jeezus Fucking Christ, what is WRONG with those people?

This is from the CDC itself, so there is no confusion of how clusterfucked they are

Quote:

Priorities for testing may include:

Hospitalized patients who have signs and symptoms compatible with COVID-19 in order to inform decisions related to infection control.
Other symptomatic individuals such as, older adults and individuals with chronic medical conditions and/or an immunocompromised state that may put them at higher risk for poor outcomes (e.g., diabetes, heart disease, receiving immunosuppressive medications, chronic lung disease, chronic kidney disease).
Any persons including healthcare personnel2, who within 14 days of symptom onset had close contact3 with a suspect or laboratory-confirmed4 COVID-19 patient, or who have a history of travel from affected geographic areas5 (see below) within 14 days of their symptom onset.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/hcp/clinical-criteria.html

So, you have to be IN A HOSPITAL, or with KNOWN CONTACT OF A CONFIRMED CASE, or SYMPTOMATIC AND AT-RISK.

Do you realize with these recommendations coronavirus could be running like wildfire thru the younger community and no one would know/?. That the young man who was the first indication of community spread in Washington state would NEVER have been tested according to these criteria, and that the only reason why they found out what HE had is because he was tested in a research program?

This is beginning to look like "Don't test, don't tell"

Just for the record I have not once, NOT ONCE ! stated anything positive about any government control anywhere to contain coronavirus.

This is just jerkwad Kevin making shit up as usual, and you, being the slackjawed sidekick you are, going along with it. If either of you had any trace of honor or honesty left in you, you'd be just a little bit ashamed of colluding together to lie so egregiously. But you aren't.

Maylasia might be poised to surpass Diamond Princess.

US is in 8th place, with 4,663 cases and 74 recoveries. 86 deaths.

Canada is 21st place, with 422 cases, 11 recoveries. 4 deaths.

True enough for Canada. All deaths connected to long term care home in North Vancouver.

Ottawa has shut the doors to all international flights and called all Canadians that are virus free home.

My own province of BC has asked visitors from especially Washington State not to come up.

All gatherings over 50 people stopped. Different cities taking precautions and closing libraries and pools and other recreational spots like community centres. Where I go and play mah jong closed today for who knows how long.

You don't say, huh?

And you wonder why I believe that the actual infected number in Italy is at least 10 times what they're reporting that it is.

You need to relax, take a step back, and realize what this means.

It's good news. It means that the fatality rate is much lower than the Legacy Media is scaring you to believe that it is.

It's hard to miss dead people when you're counting.

YOU FUCKING LYING SACK OF SHIT. I WAS DESCRIBING AN ARTICLE I READ. I MADE NO PERSONAL COMMENT OF APPROVAL OR RECOMMENDATION.

Quote:

A different article I read was more explicit when it comes to the fragmented, isolated testing.

Because there isn't a national health system, there's no large-scale testing capacity that can handle thousands or tens of thousands of samples at a time.

What there is instead are isolated autonomous facilities where individual laboratories have myriad different combinations of pieces of instrumentation and equipment, reagent kits, and procedures. So there's no standardization that would enable a single test to be rolled out across the country.

Then within each laboratory for this kind of 'specialty' testing there are small-scale and by-hand setups, that can do at most 5 samples a day.

There's a lot of systemic limitations in the system that can't be expanded to accommodate a crisis.

Yeah. I am.

UBI is certainly a lot better way of dispersing cash than 1.5 Trillion Dollar Wall Street Bailouts, and would be a much more fair system of distribution than any and all of the existing programs out there.

UBI is NOT brainwashing generations of future adults via a Federally Mandated Curriculum that must be adhered to or else you don't get the tax dollars.

UBI is NOT a centralized health care system which will ration off healthcare at its own whims and expect us all to be alright with the criminals in office holding the futures of all of our well beings in their hands.

You've got politicians talking about a temporary UBI right now during the virus. What do you think is going to happen when half of the existing jobs are automated and nobody will ever be able to go back to working them? It's really not that far off until that happens.

Major false equivalency there. Several in one post, in fact.
