6ixStringJoker, I don't release my tax returns on fireflyfans.net because there is nothing in it for me. But then I'm not running for President. But then I also did not promise many times to release my taxes as soon as the IRS finishes my audit, while Trump did promise. But then again Trump did not expect to win, so why release his taxes?

Economists say the ultra-wealthy are dodging taxes far more than we think. They are not worried about jail. Trump had no need to worry until he won the election. Now he will be under scrutiny that he never considered before.
https://qz.com/994323

Do you know why he cheated? Any effort Trump put into tax evasion, assuming his time is worth as little as $10,000 per hour, will be well paid back in taxes avoided. That is his ROI. There is no way Trump would pass up the opportunity to cheat because there is hundreds of millions of dollars involved. Again we're talking about Donald Trump, not Honest Abe Lincoln nor George "I cannot tell a lie" Washington.

The ROI on tax cheating is not ENORMOUS. Part of weighing out ROI is comparing possible benefits against possible consequences of your actions. Saving a few million here or there by outright breaking the law when you have a business the size of Trump's is potential career suicide.

Again, I'm not saying that he didn't do it. I just don't think that he did.

There are plenty of ways to avoid taxes legally, and I'm quite sure that the accountants and tax attorneys on his team took advantage of every single one of them for what they're likely getting paid. (He even admitted to the public already that there were years that he did not pay taxes, so I don't know what your point about this all is).

Maddow and Olberman would have countless hours worth of shows pouring over those things and vilifying Trump for them. The only people who would look at what they were talking about and say "Who the fuck cares? That's business." are other large corporation big-shots who know that's just how the game is played.

It's a no brainier not releasing those to the public when he doesn't have to.

Don't ever expect to see them, voluntarily or otherwise. It's not going to happen. They may subpoena them for investigation, but there is no way those are ever going to be released to the public unless they are illegally leaked or somebody changes the law to state that any president or presidential candidate MUST disclose their tax returns to the public.

What is your definition of "cheating"?

Are you inadvertently trying to say that you outright break the law when you do your taxes, or are you saying that you use every single legal loophole that, while maybe not "honest", are still avoiding outright breaking the law?

I'm sure there is some shady shit in those tax returns. What I'm saying is that I doubt there are any outright illegal things. Whether or not he ever had any intentions of becoming President it is stupid for somebody with that much responsibility to gamble not only with his own well-being but that of every single employee working for him around the world to blatantly spit in the face of the IRS.

I agree. He did promise to release his tax returns. In the debates where Hillary made a huge stink about it. There is no way he wasn't going to lie about releasing them in that forum. There would have been no argument by anybody that he lost the debates if he didn't make that promise.

I'd like to see how many promises of any type have been made in the debates over the years that were reneged on. Why is this one any more important than any of the other lies every presidential hopeful has ever said?

Quote:

In other news, journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza, one of Putin’s most prominent Russian critics and part of the pro-democracy group Open Russia, suddenly died of organ failure earlier on Thursday. He had previously been poisoned and become seriously ill as a result, although it was never proved that the poisoning was deliberate. He was described as healthy prior to his unexpected death.

Rachel Maddow interviewed that guy a few months ago!

Kara-Murza is not dead. Your article links to a BBC article which was posted Feb 2, and which mentions "organ failure" and "medically-induced coma". But in a subsequent Feb 8 article ...

Quote:

Kremlin Critic Kara-Murza Emerges From Coma, Condition Improving

Kremlin critic Vladimir Kara-Murza Jr. who has been hospitalized in critical condition for the second time in two years in what his family and friends suspect was a deliberate poisoning, has awoken from a coma and improved noticeably, his lawyer and wife told RFE/RL.

Vadim Prokhorov said in a February 8 post on Facebook that his client’s heart was functioning normally and that he was conscious enough to interact with his wife, though he still was unable to talk. ...

https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-kara-murza-emerges-from-coma-improving/
28298654.html

Seems like your Salon article was "fake news". Or at least "jumped the gun and didn't add a retraction" news.

Yanno, I read several articles about this at the time, and the whole "poisoning" scenario seemed wobbly at the time. Here are snippets of articles and what I found troubling about them ...

From the BBC
Quote:

The journalist's wife said he had suffered the same sudden onset of symptoms as in his previous illness.

"The ambulance took him directly to the hospital where the same medical team has since been trying to determine what is happening," she said.

"He was brought there conscious but was put in a medicated coma and on life support later, because his organs began shutting down like last time."

... No cause was ever established for Mr Kara-Murza's last [previous] illness, but tests confirmed that he had ingested a poisonous substance.

There is NO generic test for "poison". If there was, it would make forensic investigation a whole lot easier! Why the BBC would post such claptrap is beyond me.

FROM RADIO FREE EUROPE
Quote:

Kremlin critic Vladimir Kara-Murza Jr. who has been hospitalized in critical condition for the second time in two years in what his family and friends suspect was a deliberate poisoning, has awoken from a coma and improved noticeably, his lawyer and wife told RFE/RL ....

Kara-Murza, 35, fell ill on February 2 in Moscow and was hospitalized in an intensive-care unit. His wife said later that her husband had suffered kidney failure and was on life support after being placed in a medically-induced coma.

His family says his symptoms are almost identical to those of his near-fatal 2015 illness, also in Moscow, which he believes was the result of a deliberate poisoning in retaliation for his political activities.

Earlier this week, Yevgeniya Kara-Murza said doctors had diagnosed her husband with "acute poisoning by an undetermined substance."

First of all, there are a lot of unsubstantiated quotes from Kara-Murza's friends and family. Did RFE ever go back to the doctors and ask for a confirmation of the diagnosis? Because, as I mentioned before, there is no such thing as a generic test for "poison". If I were a medical examiner I would have to reach that DX by excluding every other possible cause, AND I would have to find some sort of puncture mark or chemical burns in the mouth or on the skin or something unusual in the stomach indicating the administration of a foreign substance.

And then there is this ...
Quote:

Yevgeniya also said that samples of her husband’s blood, hair, and fingernails had been sent to a private laboratory in Israel for analysis.

No results have been forthcoming so far.

So despite the fact that every western article mentions "poison" in it many times, "poisoning" had not yet been demonstrated. So far, it's an allegation.

Now, there is at least one cause of sudden organ failure in previously healthy people - two people that I knew personally died of it - and that is sepsis. Literally, healthy one day and in a coma the next and dead two days after when family requested that the plug be pulled. I assume Russian doctors are aware of this condition, and I haven't read anything about THAT as a dx, so right now it's "cause unknown".

Finding a rare poison is incredibly difficult. It could be anything from radiological to chemical to biological. Some cases have taken over a year to suss out; the Israeli lab has only been at it for six months. Being generous - if, by early 2019 we haven't heard anything ... I guess there's nothing to hear.

But, again, Kara-Murza is not dead. You got hoodwinked by bad info, and failed to look for evidens of your claim.

Quote:

Are you unaware of Russia's poisoning history? No?
Yes, actually I am aware. I probably know a lot more about it than you do, because, as an analytical chemist, I know how difficult it is to look for "toxins". People have actually turned in analysis requests asking me to look for anything "toxic". My first response to them is that I goggle at them a bit and then ask "How much do you want to spend"? There are hundreds of thousands of toxics and thousands of effective poisons, and new discoveries are made every year. So I'm always in awe when someone tracks down a rarity.

I have absolutely NO IDEA what you're posting about. How am I "lying to myself"? All I said was that the person that you were wringing your hands over was not, in fact, dead.

You're like KRAPO, who claimed that I "cheered him [Putin] on in every expression of it http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=61700 and, as far as I know, is still to this day trying to find those quotes where I did that.

BTW- You might want to back off on that spittle-laced personal attack on SIX. All it tells me is that you have nothing interesting to say.

So, just to reiterate what this whole thread is about: It's about EVIDENS.

SOMETHING YOUR BOTH FAILED TO LOOK FOR WHEN YOU READ THAT SALON ARTICLE.

What was the flaw that caused you to be blind-sided?
Your "trust" in certain sites?
Your generous definition of "evidens" to include anything from rumors to allegations?
Your tendency to agree with anything that matches your assumptions/ expectations/ biases?
Your inability to notice logical flaws and weasel-words embedded in the articles that you "like" and"trust"?
Your unwillingness to look for contradictory information?

I think maybe your "evidens-parsing" skills need some work.

That's the problem with people like T. Not that they exist, but that there are just so damn many of them, on both sides.

People who have lost the ability of critical thinking completely. People who listen only to the news that says what they want to hear and believe all of it as the truth because that's what makes sense to them. It becomes very easy to "tell them what to think" and to get them to connect the dots in their head about whatever narrative they are spinning without any proof and a bunch of anonymous sources.

I predicted every step of the way that Trump was going to win when even Fox news polls every day showed Clinton winning. I also said that there was nothing to the Russia investigation that the MSM had been yammering on about for months and it turned out that Trump was never being investigated although they said the opposite was true every single day. Now that that's over, they're scrambling to tie anything they can to Trump. The MSM is in soooo deep now that there is no turning back without losing face, and they have an army of useful idiots that are more than happy to follow them off the cliff.

G thinks having a smart phone makes him smart. He thinks that watching the MSM flavor he prefers everyday keeps him informed of what's happening.

I think these beliefs are flawed for the exact same reason.

It doesn't make you smarter - because the minute that phone is unavailable, 'your' smarts go away. But the fact you keep insisting you're smarter makes me think you grew up as the stupid one in a house where being smart was valuable.

You're the one who is mistaken about what words mean.

Smart:

adjective, smarter, smartest.
7.
quick or prompt in action, as persons.
8.
having or showing quick intelligence or ready mental capability:
a smart student.
9.
shrewd or sharp, as a person in dealing with others or as in business dealings:
a smart businessman.
10.
clever, witty, or readily effective, as a speaker, speech, rejoinder, etc.
11.
dashingly or impressively neat or trim in appearance, as persons, dress, etc.
12.
socially elegant; sophisticated or fashionable:
the smart crowd.
13.
saucy; pert:
smart remarks.

We've been over this before. A smartphone does not make you smarter. It may make you more efficient if used properly, but it does not augment your actual intelligence, and studies have found that people who rely too heavily actually become dumber from prolonged use as they start using their smartphone as a crutch.

First of all, I'm (among other things) an analytical CHEMIST, which adds to my understanding of what REAL EVIDENS looks like, because I have to find REAL EVIDENS in order to bring it to hearing.

I'm aware that Russia has been accused of poisoning Litvinenko with polonium. I don't know what all of the "evidence" is linking the poisoning to Russia; but he was clearly poisoned. Just as an aside, polonium is easily obtained from scientific-supply sites as part of anti-static strips.

There was another demonstrated poisoning of an ex-Russian in England, Alexander Perepilichnyy, in this case using "Heartbreak Grass" (gelsemium elegans). This whistleblower was exposing various money-laundering schemes and receiving death threats from criminal gangs.

Other people's families have CLAIMED poisoning but which was never demonstrated, and for which there are other credible explanations.

Trump is wearing a shirt that reads on the front: "I Am Guilty! ** "
On the back, in tiny letters the shirt continues: "** (but I won’t tell you what of)"

Let me put this as simply as I can. After firing FBI Director James Comey for investigating the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russians, the president is now openly smearing and threatening to fire Comey’s replacement, Robert Mueller. There is no question about the motive behind all this, because Trump has told anyone within hearing distance or access to a television that he fired Comey to kill a vital and important investigation into Russian interference in our elections, which yesterday Putin all but admitted: “They meddle in all other countries’ affairs, what did they expect?” For good measure, Trump is now openly arguing through surrogates that Mueller is acting in bad faith, pursuing a “witch hunt,” and should be fired if his investigation gets anywhere near the president.

The president has not only been trying to prevent or rig any such investigation for months — demanding personal loyalty from the FBI director, pressuring national intelligence officials to exonerate him before the inquiry is finished — but also continues to boast about this obstruction of justice as if there were nothing wrong with it at all.

You don't have to dumb it down. I know exactly what you're accusing him of and how you're connecting the dots.

I don't agree with you. It's too simple. It's an orgy of evidence. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Trump and his team are just a bunch of stupid old men who have no idea how things work today and that everything is traceable.

If he is guilty, they will find out.

I guess in the mean time you would probably do better focusing on other stuff. Any of your continued "super sleuthing" here is fun and all but isn't actually going to accomplish anything.

"If his is guilty, they will find out," you wrote. If we wait 45 years.

"Maybe Trump and his team are just a bunch of stupid old men who have no idea how things work today," you wrote. Trump is smart and knows how Congress works, today. He and Nixon could end in the same jail cell, but then Nixon didn't go to jail, did he? Trump has an impeachment advantage over Nixon that the GOP is every bit as honest as he is. See the short article "The Silence of the Hacks" about the Health Care bill.
https://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2017/06/16/the-silence-of-the-hacks/

I'll feel so very good about my huge tax cut when Trumpcare passes and only a little bad about the people who lose their health care. It will be a win for me! Hillary would have never given me that win, so thank God for Trump and the GOP. Let me rub it in: Life in the USA is not a zero sum game because every win for me, the 1%, is a loss for 99 people, some of whom will die. It is worst than zero sum. Hurray for me! Too bad for you!

You're always wrong, Signym. I'm pleased that Trump is President, because there is no other way for me to get the huge tax cuts I don't deserve. Hillary would never repeal Obamacare in order to give me more money. Neither would Hillary sign the bills from Republicans. Per the Constitution, I would be excluded from serving on the jury for the trials of the Trump family because I am prejudiced, but then if the Constitution said "guilty until proven innocent", Mike Pence would already be President and I'd already have my huge tax cut from the Obamacare repeal and replace. 1.

You have no idea what the basic concept of intelligence is, so this is very hard to explain to you.

A smart phone is a tool. Much like a cordless drill is a tool. I could use a screwdriver to put up drywall by hand, but I end up saving myself a lot of time and energy by using a cordless drill. Having the cordless drill doesn't make me stronger, and I'm not in any way handicapped physically so I am perfectly able to screw something in with a screwdriver, but having the cordless drill IMPROVES MY EFFICIENCY.

You keep mistaking INTELLIGENCE with EFFICIENCY.

You are dreaming of the workers' revolution. Or is it the French Revolution? A violent overthrow. Only trouble is you have to sustain your enthusiasm for months, maybe years, not just once every 4 years at the voting booth for the next hoaxer like Trump.

You should read the article: “Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos asked for help giving away his billions. How about paying his workers a living wage?”
www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2017/06/dear-jeff-bezos-remember-cha
rity-begins-home-170619073449644.html

Jeff Bezos’s employees live in misery. If they were enthusiastic to start the Revolution against the rich they’d band together in a union to squeeze more money from Amazon. But it is not happening. Even less likely to happen is the poorest half of Americans cooperating with each other to get the government to force Bezos to pay his employees more. Even less likely is Amazon employees burning down Bezos’s mansion to teach him a lesson in what is fair.

If the poorest half of America continue to act as individuals, not as a group, they will remain poor. As a group, they need to cooperate with each other every day, but it is hard to get them to even show up to vote once every 1,460 days. They need to put in a Revolutionary effort, about a thousand times more effort than voting once every 4 years, if they are going to change America for the better.

They could learn the most important lesson from the wealthy. The richest Americans act as a group inside the GOP (and smaller group inside the Democratic Party), not as a bunch of individuals. That is the secret to how the richest will continue to prosper. They learned to cooperate with each other every damn day of the week, not just once in a great while.

I didnt realize how bad Nixon wuz till I watched the NBC special on Watergate.

A big lesson to be lerned iz that freedom uv the press iz an essential part uv our democrasy. If not for Woodward & Bernstien, Nixon woud hav gotten away with it.

At hiz core, he wuz a 2 bit banana republic strong man. How far he coud hav taken it with a little less press freedom and a little more GoP colusion?

Trump haz haf the media working for him and at least 90% uv the GoP. With Russia'z help, maybe he can sekseed where Nixon failed.

Except for LBJ, Nixon, Bill Clinton, Bush II. There was a high degree of hostility toward those Presidents about their screwed up administrations.

I should add that LBJ didn't run for a second term because his endless lying (reported by MSM) about the justification for the Vietnam War caused trouble for him. Endless, nonstop lying by Nixon (reported by MSM) about Watergate caused trouble for him. Nonstop lying by Bush II (reported by MSM) about the Iraq War caused trouble for him.

Remember that Trump said Obama was born in Kenya and that because he was a Kenyan first and always he could not legally be the President. Or did 6stringJoker erase that Trump scam from memory after Trump said it was Hillary said Obama was a Kenyan?

No really, I want you to see how much junk you post. Did you prove Manafort was not working for Russia? For both sides? Did you prove Trump hasn't been laundering money for Russia? Did you or anyone prove *anything* yet? -GOOSESTEPPER

Ah, the little fascist shows his true colors. - SIGNY

Huh? I'm a facist now because I want Jack to explain his statements? Because I ask him not to make sh*t up? Explain please, I need a laugh. Or run to the next thread like you usually do when your intelligence fails you.- G-OOSESTEPPER

You've so thoroughly forgotten one of our legal foundations that you don't even know what I'm referring to, do you?

You seem to have forgotten yet another Constitutional principle, along with all of the other Constitutional principles that you're been so ready to ditch along the way. I even mentioned it to SECOND. - SIGNY

You really are just like Jack - more made up sh*t you can't defend. G'head! I think most of us know it will be more deflection.- GSTRING

Yep, you can't even figure out what I'm referring to. I even posted it. Just scroll up and read with comprehension this time.

Yanno, it's funny that the discussion would come around again to the idea of "intelligence". I challenged GOOSETEPPER. KRAPO, and THUGR - many times- to define the term "intelligence". All I got out of it was "Well, why don't YOU?" Yanno, like they wanted to copy my test answers or something. They STILL don't know what intelligence is, and they sure haven't demonstrated much of it.- SIGNY

Geezus Krist - I know you so well by now... all you want to do is lecture us and fill the forum with useless typing. So, again, g'head, lecture away - prove me wrong if you can. Show us your great intelligence isn't just obvious deflection. - GSTRING

GSTRING, you still haven't defined intelligence, and you still haven't figured out which legal protection so thoroughly slipped your mind that it's not even a speed bump in your mentation? (That's a hint, by the way. Please scroll up and read with comprehension.)

Thanks for that, SIX.

Now, to be fair, some of Obama's failures really were the result of GOP intransigence. The few that come to mind are the plan to spend on infrastructure (GOP did not want to raise the deficit), the inability to work in a bipartisan fashion (hard to negotiate with an intransigent party) the inability to close Gitmo (GOP refused to allow prisoner releases into the USA, and difficulty in finding partner nations).

However, appointing Timmy Geithner, shoveling money at the banks, Obamacare, endless warrantless surveillance (as exposed by Snowden), TTP, TTIP ... that was all on Obama and his buddies. Ukraine, Libya, and Syria are at least half Obama's fault.

All that hopey-changey stuff: pure hogwash.

Can't explain, huh? I'll make it even simpler for you: Did Jack prove all of those things he claimed? So how does his inability and false statement make me a fascist? You love throwing that word around but clearly you don't know what it means.- GOOSESTEPPER

Nobody needs to "prove" that Manafort was NOT working for Russia, or that Trump wasn't laundering money, because of the concept of "innocent until proven guilty". That's the the cornerstone of our justice system, the one that seems to have rather permanently slipped your mind.

All anyone has to do .... and I think we've done that, over and over .... is to show that there is "reasonable doubt". Not only is there "reasonable doubt", just about everything that you and JO have brought to the board doesn't even rise to the level of "evidens". In doesn't even rise to the level of "hearsay"! It's anonymous gossip and rampant speculation, and some of it has already been disproved by Comey's own testimony. But your insistence that people "prove innocence" is just another example of your warped, authoritarian thinking.

SECOND- wow, that's an abnormally paltry defense of Obama! It almost sounds as if you're AGREEING with SIX that Obama lied, because your very own link says ...

Quote:

It was a catchy political pitch and a chance to calm nerves about his dramatic and complicated plan to bring historic change to America’s health insurance system. "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it," President Barack Obama said -- many times -- of his landmark new law.

But the promise was impossible to keep.

So this fall, as cancellation letters were going out to approximately 4 million Americans, the public realized Obama’s breezy assurances were wrong.

Boiling down the complicated health care law to a soundbite proved treacherous, even for its promoter-in-chief. Obama and his team made matters worse, suggesting they had been misunderstood all along .... For all of these reasons, PolitiFact has named "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it," the Lie of the Year for 2013. Readers in a separate online poll overwhelmingly agreed with the choice.

So, are you agreeing that Obama lied? Or what?
