How eloquent you are. Good case you made for voting Republican. Next election I switch from being a Democrat because I, too, care about your “pain” the way only Republicans can. Last week I gave Agnes a $3,500 gift so her family won’t be evicted. And I loaned $15,000 at zero percent to pay off a high interest loan. Repayment starts in a year. I probably will never see that money again. If you have “painful” problems, go to your Republican neighbors. They are generous, unlike stingy Democrats. That is why they are Republicans. If they can’t help because of Obama, then try Trump. He cares about your “pain”. He will get you a job. He will build the wall. He will deport 11,000,000 criminals. He will move all factories back to the USA. He will make you great again. He promised. He does not lie. Believe in him.

I noticed how brave your Trump is. He is courageous. Use that as more Evidence he should be your President. But it certainly makes me not forget all about Comey, under oath and penalty for perjury, bravely testifying five times that Trump is a lying sack of shit. I call it Evidence when Comey risks going to jail for years in order to tell you something truthful about Trump. Here is something more:

How might President Trump react to a world leader who, afraid for his image, perhaps afraid for himself, refused to fulfil a promise to visit a loyal ally. He might fire off a tweet: “RAN from critics. A gift for crooked MSM. TOTAL pathetic loser!”

But he won’t, because the loser is him. He got to hold hands with Theresa May when she visited Washington, but alas, that may be the high point of his cuddle-fest with her, and with us – because Trump, it now appears, is not keen on making his proposed state visit to Britain any time soon.

From my lowly position as one of the not-1% I have given far more, in absolute terms, than you mention. $50,000 in one year alone, to help someone with medical issues. $42,000 to someone else who was out of work. This was money I had saved up for years. And it wasn't loaned - it was given.

Of the people on this board, you're the one that most resembles Trump, especially in your 'trumped-up' claims of being generous and charitable, and supportive of the not-1%.

Can you guess what Trump means by this?

Although noting that Trump said Friday he would answer Mueller’s questions under oath, Sekulow declined to rule out ordering at some later date the firing of the widely praised Mueller, who preceded Comey as FBI director.

“The president is going to seek the advice of his counsel and inside the government as well as outside,” Sekulow said on ABC’s “This Week,” adding, “I’m not going to speculate on what he will or will not do.”

www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-trump-comey-20170611-story.html

I think it means Trump already plans to fire Mueller to protect himself and derail the investigation, but he waits for a more opportune time.

Actually he is no worse than his policies, which are mainstream Republicanism. Pence would be no better than Trump, but there is one advantage to having Trump as President: you get pure GOP without any sugarcoating -- all the incompetence of Bush during Hurricane Katrina and all the dishonesty of Republicans justifying a taxcut and all the deregulation leading to the Financial crisis of 2007–2008. The Russia/Trump investigation adds a little spiciness that previous GOP administrations would not use in their recipe for running the USA because previous Republican Presidents were rather bland individuals.

Domestic policies are the purview of Congress, not the President. You should be figuring out how to win Congress back. Focusing on the Presidency was one of the many mistakes that the Dems made in 2016 and earlier.

The Dems can win, not by offering a better alternative, but by being the party of last resort. But I would hope that they would offer workable alternatives to the GOP. I can even imagine a winning platform, one which engages the problems and worries of most Americans. Starting with healthcare.

Workable. Sustainable. Will they do it? Or will they let Americans continue to suffer, hoping to pick up the pieces.

I think you are flat wrong about the role of Congress. Congress only has thousands of employees, most of them can't work on policy because they are either doing secretarial work (answering letters from back in the Congressman's district) or doing the work of lawyers.

On the other hand, the President already has a million employees that he could use to plan his policies. And the President can hire as many engineers or contractors or rocket scientists as he wants to draw up his plans in order to persuade Congress to pay for these dream projects. Congress only hires people to work in the Congressman's office. See the difference? The President shows his plans to Congress, Congress pays, the President executes the President's plan, whatever it is.

On the campaign trail, Trump promised a $1 trillion infrastructure spending bill. Democrats agree in principle and have the outline of a plan. Trump has neither an outline nor a team to help him write one. The same is true across the board — on the big problems Trump promised to fix he’s just not doing anything and his failure to deliver even somewhat detailed plans to solve problems — let alone actually solve them — is as much a cloud over his presidency as any FBI investigation.

Trump hasn’t appointed anyone to any key infrastructure jobs. He’s obstructing himself.

Congress might say no to Trump, but they can’t say yes until Trump presents them with his plans. Congress doesn’t have the manpower to make those detailed plans for any President, including Trump.

Until Trump formulates carefully thought out plans, nothing more than routine will happen on his MAGA dream projects. For example of routine, he will deport a few more illegal aliens than Obama, but to deport 11,000,000 Trump needs a big plan and more employees to finish the work in the next 3.5 years, about the same length of time as WWII. Where’s Trump’s plan? Him improvising day by day is not enough. Every illegal deported is another job opening for the unemployed. Creating 11,000,000 job opportunities should be a top Trump priority, but I see him acting like he has all the time in the world.

I was an FBI agent. Trump’s lack of concern about Russian hacking shocks me.

Quote:

As a former FBI counterintelligence agent, what I saw as the most explosive aspect of the testimony was the prima facie evidence that Comey presented that Trump appears unwilling to uphold his oath “to preserve, protect, and defend” the country — which puts the security of our nation and its democracy at stake. In the nine times Trump met with or called Comey, it was always to discuss how the investigation into Russia’s election interference was affecting him personally, rather than the security of the country. He apparently cared little about understanding either the magnitude of the Russian intelligence threat, or how the FBI might be able to prevent another attack in future elections.

When Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) asked Comey whether Trump had ever appeared concerned about Russian interference or how to stop it in the future, Comey’s answer was blunt: “No.” After a moment of reflection, he added, without prompting, that he had “attended a fair number of meetings on that with President Obama.” This contrast alone underscores Trump’s disregard for his fundamental duty, which is to ensure the security of the nation, its government and its citizens from foreign enemies.

It’s worth noting that there is unanimity among senior intelligence officials that the Russian interference in our election not only happened, but that it was extraordinary and unprecedented.

It does not require an FBI investigation to see that a president of the United States who finds no reason for concern in any of these assertions — and indeed considers them a “hoax” — cannot have the best interest of the country at heart.

Finally, we have prima facie evidence about Trump. Prima facie means accepted as correct until proved otherwise. Do you want to know how I know this is all a media-driven frenzy? It's by the almost random nature of accusations against Trump. When "pussy-grabber" failed to dent Trump's campaign, they moved on to "golden showers". When "golden showers" turned out to be a dry hole, it was "collusion". When Comey failed to disclose ANYthing related to Trump's potential "collusion" with Russia, they moved on to "obstruction". Since I predict the "obstruction" charge will go nowhere as well, a few more torpedoes have been loaded: yet another bogus charge about not "defending" the USA. Or vastly stretching the intention of the "emoluments" clause into yet another pointless accusation. This is redolent of how YOU got fooled into backing the Iraq war, or the endless wandering accusations against Bill Clinton.

The real threat to America is terrorism, but when Trump tried to do something about THAT, the "heroes" of our liberal system decided - despite overwhelming examples of actual terrorism by committed Wahhabist immigrants in western nations - to torpedo any sort of extra vetting of immigrants from nations which have been demonstrated to be exporters of terrorists.

Seriously, you've got your heads screwed on backwards. If there is a serious terror attack in the USA by Muslim immigrants, you should be blamed for not caring about American security.

23 posts so far today. I think all this hysteria is due to the fact that they were really, REALLY counting on Comey's testimony to be the final solution. But then, it turned out to be nothing but hot air.

Now they're talking about everything BUT what just didn't happen, trying to find reasons to support their completely unsupported beliefs.

Yup.

It's been over a year at least of throwing everything they possibly can at the wall and seeing if anything sticks.

I don't even particularly like Trump, and I don't exactly feel comfortable being on this "side", since a majority of my life I have been against the current administration, whatever their affiliation.

In general, I like the way that things have been changing since he's been in office. I don't think that's really much because of anything that Trump has done except just be Trump. We're back to calling a Terrorist a Terrorist and not apologizing for them. Hate groups like Black Lives Matter arent' getting any spotlight anymore. The White Male in general is not the number one target of the bleeding hearts and the MSM. The Red Pill.

I think I'm just going to put my White and Male privilege cards out on the table and enjoy the ride. Let them bitch and whine and I'll just laugh from the sidelines.

Trump’s media allies are making the case for firing Robert Mueller. Saturday Night Massacre, redux?
www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/6/12/15782092/fire-robert-mueller

When Richard Nixon did this in the Saturday Night Massacre it was a major scandal that, in many respects, kicked the Watergate investigation into overdrive. And, indeed, it was the political backlash to firing Comey that saddled Trump with the Mueller investigation in the first place.

On the other hand, while firing Comey was not exactly well-received on Capitol Hill, the vast majority of congressional Republicans were eager to rally around the idea that Trump was within his legal rights to fire the FBI director.

They might well conclude that firing Mueller is okay too.

One advantage Trump has in Russia-related decision-making is that he knows more than either his allies or his antagonists in Congress about what the underlying facts of the case are. Trump is in a unique position to evaluate whether the political costs of a cover-up exceed the political costs of a thorough investigation. In the case of, for example, his still-secret tax returns and personal finances, Trump has decided that the cover-up is the wiser path — and it’s certainly possible he’ll reach the same conclusion with regard to Mueller.

If he does NOT fire Mueller than Trump has given us good evidence that he is unworried. Every month that goes by without Mueller being fired is more evidence that Trump believes there is either no crime or it is only trivial. On the other hand, if Trump fires Mueller, that is evidence too. It won't convince Republicans that there is a crime, but it will convince everyone outside the USA and outside the GOP that there was.

I haven't looked into Mueller very deeply. On the other hand, he brought in Weissmann, who left the Enron investigation due to rising evidence of prosecutorial misconduct.

Prosecutor's Record Destroys Credibility of Mueller Probe
(AP)

By Sidney Powell | Wednesday, 07 Jun 2017 11:28 AM

Former FBI Director, now special prosecutor, Robert Mueller has added Andrew Weissmann to the prosecution team investigating allegations of the Trump Administration's "collusion" with Russia.

Mainstream media has touted both men's credentials, but there is a huge back-story they all ignore.

Mr. Weissmann's real record as a "special prosecutor" is so egregious that Mr. Mueller's decision to choose his former counsel Weissmann should cause concern for anyone with even a passing interest in truth and justice.

From a tough mob prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York United States Attorney's Office (with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Assistant Attorney General Leslie Caldwell), Mr. Weissmann became the first Deputy Director — and then Director — of the elite Enron Task Force, formed in 1991.

The Task Force quickly devolved into a cabal that used mob tactics itself.

It dealt the death penalty to the venerable accounting firm of Arthur Andersen LLP, which employed 85,000 people world-wide and represented approximately 2500 publicly-traded companies. It even coerced a guilty plea out of Andersen partner David Duncan.

In a trial rife with prosecutorial misconduct obviously calculated to win at any cost, Weissmann helped rewrite crucial jury instructions defining the "crime" and the intent required.

Three years later, a unanimous Supreme Court reversed the conviction. All the justices agreed that Andersen's conduct was not a crime, and it was "shocking how little criminal culpability the jury instructions required."

In plain English, Mr. Weissmann concocted a crime, destroyed a company and 85,000 jobs, spent millions of tax dollars, and obtained a wrongful conviction — all for nothing.

The prosecutors were so over-reaching that the judge even allowed Mr. Duncan to withdraw his guilty plea.

Weissmann ran the grand jury like a petty tyrant. He instructed one defendant (my client) — who had appeared voluntarily — to share his "personal understanding" of a telephone call he had not even participated in, "whether his understanding was accurate or not." Then, Weissmann indicted him for perjury and obstruction of justice for his answer.

Determined to "send a message to Wall Street," Weissmann supervised the prosecution of four Merrill Lynch executives on charges that were unprecedented.

Like a character from the TV series The Blacklist, Weissmann himself often made multiple phone calls to lawyers for potential defense witnesses, threatening the indictment of anyone who might testify for the defense — including in-house legal counsel.

To top it off, Weissmann and team actually yellow-highlighted evidence that was favorable to the defense before the Barge trial, but hid it for six years while four Merrill executives served a year in prison on an indictment that failed to allege a crime as charged.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed 12 out of 14 counts of conviction, acquitted one defendant completely, and later held that the prosecutors "plainly suppressed evidence" favorable to the defense and provided misleading summaries instead.

Weissmann left the Enron Task Force amid escalating allegations of prosecutorial misconduct during the Enron Broadband case.
No one seemed to notice what had happened to the victims, or that all of the cases they actually tried and at least two of the guilty pleas they coerced were reversed.

Not only has our Department of "Justice" failed to drain the swamp, it has just restocked it with a swamp-monster who has proven that he is willing to do anything to win. To paraphrase Billy Jack, "When [prosecutors] break the law, there is no law."

Sidney Powell served in the Department of Justice for 10 years, in three federal districts under nine United States Attorneys from both political parties. She was lead counsel in more than 500 federal appeals. She is the author of Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice – a legal thriller that tells the inside story of high-profile prosecutions including Arthur Andersen LLP, the Ted Stevens case, and the Enron Barge case in which she represented one of the Merrill Lynch executives.

Ah, the old ad hominem ... a SECOND-RATE special.

What does that have to do with Weissmann's overturned convictions, where his actions unanimously had the Supreme Court aghast? Or his prosecutorial misconduct? Or, after falsely instructing a witness to testify about hearsay conversation, and who appeared voluntarily, he then prosecuting him for perjury?

Do you have any response to the facts, SECOND-RATE?

Ah, the old ad hominem ... a SECOND-RATE special.

What does that have to do with Weissmann's overturned convictions, where his actions unanimously had the Supreme Court aghast? Or his prosecutorial misconduct? Or, after falsely instructing a witness to testify about hearsay conversation, and who appeared voluntarily, he then prosecuting him for perjury?

Do you have any response to the facts, SECOND-RATE?

I'm sure you don't. In fact, I guarantee you'll do one of four things 1) shift the topic, 2) disappear for a while and then shift the topic, 3) continue with an ad hominem, or 4) some combination of those.

Putting you back on 'ignore', again.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

1kiki, that is five times in a row you promised to ignore me. Are you using ignore ironically, meaning not ignore? Or are you caught in loop? Is it time to reboot? Once you have, please answer the question everyone needs to know: Why does a Bernie supporter, such as yourself, join the Trump legal team? Joining makes perfect sense for Signym, but not for you. It is inconsistent. Maybe you are using irony because you are joking about supporting Trump, now? Or were you joking about supporting Bernie, back in 2016?
