Hello,

I notice that Social Security is no longer funded by contributions alone.

Is this so that people will stop complaining when they plunder it for their own purposes?

DREAMTROVE

No govt. should have the right to determine how you invest your money. If people want to bail out the poor, they should just bail out the poor, not take control of your money.

Anyway, some of these changes are to lower the immediately effective tax hike implied by Obama's policy changes. It's a little relief on the low end, but when Obama's policies are in full effect, the tax rate on the poor is going to be devastating. I don't say this for political reasons, as I see no hope for any change from anyone, but rather because I've been spending a lot of time looking in to how to avoid the crushing tax burden, which looks to me like the effective total tax rate could reach 100% for people in my income range, which is a fairly large jump up from 0%.

Naturally, Obama wants to make sure that taxes don't actually go up this high before his re-election in 2012. I assume his supporters will pour money into Sarah Palin, and some third party conservative splitter to make sure he gets re-elected, and his opponents only pretend to oppose him, I suspect they really support him, just like the last, oh, I don't know how many presidents, but certainly the last two.

I have to concede that Newt Gingrich was working for Clinton the whole time, and even more painfully that so was Ross Perot, and the Kerry was working for Bush, and Bush was working for Clinton.

There's no change in the real power, so the people who are actually making decisions are just pushing what they can do as far as they can.

Ultimately, what they want to do with Social Security is to use that money for the wars, which is basically what they've been doing.

Bah. I reread these several times now. It looks like more of the same, pushing the govt's ability to control your earnings, and limiting the outgo, am I missing something?

I would say that is an astute guess.
