Just Jayne and River and the rest of the crew of Serenity, standing in a semi circle, around the happy couple. Kaylee hadn't stopped crying since River floated gracefully don't the cargo bay stairs looking less like the angel faced girl Jayne fell in love with and more like some sultry siren. He didn't know where she got the dress, but he knew he'd have fun peeling it off her body. Mal stood in front of the couple at first not knowing what to say, he never officiated over anything like this. He said some kind words about his soldiers when the died during the War and he had given his crew a pep talk or two, but for some reason he was speechless as he looked at his Merc gazing lovingly into the eyes of a girl that Mal could barely recognize... Ai ya, she had grown so much. "Sir," Zoe said and Mal sighed. "We ain't got much on this boat," Mal began. "We can't even throw a proper wedding, we might be short on supplies and running from the law, but we have each other. You couldn't tell me three years ago, this group of people would not only become a family, but that they would fall in love with each other, sectioning off into some of the oddest pairs the verse have ever seen, I would have insisted that there was something broken in your brainpan," he chuckled and the crew smiled. "But here we are, getting ready to join together in marriage the most deadliest people on this crew. God help us all," he laughed rubbing the back of his neck. He looked at Simon,"Simon do you give River to Jayne, to be his wife?" "Do I have a choice?" Simon grinned and then nodded. "Take care of her," He took his sister's hand and placed it in Jayne's. Jayne let go of River hand long enough to pull Simon into a bone crushing hug. "Help," he gasped and River cleared her throat. Jayne let Simon go and took his bride's hand, his thumb find the stone of the priceless amythest engagement ring. "Jayne," Mal said and Jayne's focus didn't stray from River's face. "Yeah cap'n," he said and Mal grinned. "Do you take River to be you wife? To love, honor, protect and all that until the end of the verse?" Mal winged it and Inara rolled her eyes with a smile. "I do," Jayne nodded and River smiled bigger than Simon had ever seen. "River." "Yes Captain Daddy," she said. "Do you take Jayne to be your husband? To have and to hold and to honor an'all that till the end of the verse?" "And beyond," she said and Kaylee burst out in tears. Simon patted his emotional wife's back. "They are so beautiful." she cried. "I know bao bei,"Simon consoled her. "Now do we have rings to exchange?' Mal asked and Jayne shook his head. "Yes you do," Zoe said and she gave her ring to Walk and told him to give it to Jayne. "I just have mine, I buried Wash with his, but it should do," she smiled. "I can't take this from you, Zoe," Jayne argued and Zoe smiled, touching his arm. "Please," she said. "But Wash gave you this,"' he started and she smiled. "He left me with a better symbol of our love," she picked up her antsy son and Jayne nodded touched by her gesture. River smiled her thanks and Jayne grinned as he took River's hand. "Okay," Mal said. "Repeat after me, with this ring I, Jayne Cobb." "With this ring I, Jayne Cobb--" "--take you River Tam." "--take you River Tam." "to be my wife--" "to be my wife gorram it--" "till the end of the verse and beyond." Mal finished and Jayne grinned. "till the end of the gorram verse and beyond, bao bei," He said. Mal nodded. "I now pronounce you two feng le kids married." Jayne and River looked at each other and then Mal. "Kiss her already!" Mal said and Jayne picked River up and kissed her as he spun her around. The crew clapped, cheered, and whistled. Simon held back tears as he looked at his sister so happy in her zhang-fu's arms. River was really a woman now and he was no longer her protector, that was Jayne's job. He just hoped Jayne was up to the task.. He smiled when he felt the comforting arms of his wife snake around his waist. "She'll be safe with Jayne," she whispered, knowing him so well he may have thought she was a reader. Kaylee kissed his chin. "I hope so," he said swallowing around the lump in his throat. ~ "We'll be in our bunk," Jayne announced scooping up his wife and heading to their bunk as River laughed. She waved good bye to the crew and Mal shook his head. "I would say let's drink, but Jayne drank all the booze this afternoon," Mal said. "Cold feet?" Simon asked and Mal shook his head. "No," Mal answered as a dark look crossed his features briefly. "Are you okay?" Inara asked and Mal smiled as she touched his arm, Mal snapped out of his dark thoughts. "I'm fine," he pulled her into his arms and kissed her neck. "I'm more than fine. I did a damn good job at officiating," he said and Inara grinned. "Oh, so you're fishing for compliments... an all that, huh?" she immitated him and he hunched his shoulders. "I did the best I could," Mal said, defensively, and Inara smiled, she placed her hands around his neck, under the collar of his shirt, she kissed him gently and pulled away her hand gliding across his face gently sending chills down his spine. He looked at Inara like a spoiled puppy. She leaned into him again and whispered,"Your reward will be wating for you in our bunk," she grinned seductively at him and Mal's eyebrow went up and he grinned. Inara told everyone else to have a good night and left the cargo bay. Mal blushed when Zoe gave him that knowing look. Walk was in his mother's arm. He sleepily rubbed his eyes and made a big yawn, lying his head of curks on his mom's shoulder, "Well that's my signal," Zoe said and headed off to bed, Mal touched her shoulder as she walked past him. She stopped, "Yes sir?" "That was a mighty fine thing you did for the Cobbs," he nodded and she grinned a smile that still showed the small signs of the grief she had experience from losing Wash. "Well, and I hate myself for admitting this, but," she sighed. "Jayne's a Godsend when it comes to Walker and Wash wouldn't have minded." "Still I know it was hard for you," Mal squeezed her shoulder. Zoe nodded and they walked off the cargo bay together. ~ "Ai ya, I thought they'd never leave," Kaylee said much to Simon's surprise. She was sitting on a cargo box, her eyes still a little red from tearing up from the ceremony. She grabb Simon by his pant waist and brought him to her. "Bao bei, wha?" he exclaimed and she stood up wrapping her arms around his neck. "I missed you so much, and I was so worried," She kissed him and Simon held her close. "And all I wanted to do since you came back is to make love to you, and forget all the ugliness that went on before. I want you, Simon, I want you now." "But Kaylee we have a bunk," Simon protested as she sat back on the large cargo box and began pulling him down to her. "I don't wanna wait she said pulling down the straps of her frilly blue and white sundress. Simon's mouth went open when he realized his wife wasn't wearing anything under that dress. No bra, he thought as her breast came free. "No panties," he whispered outloud and Kaylee laughed. "The dress didn't fit like it use to, and I didn't have much time to prep before the wedding," she smiled and ran her legs up his sides. "Zhang fu?" she said. "Yes, bao bei," he answered still wondering how the hell she managed to make him feel like a bumbling adolescent virgin bedding his first lover everytime they made love. "Why do you still got clothes on?" she said and he began undoing his pants. ~ Saffron grimaced when she heard the heavy breathy moans of the ship's mechanic getting it real good from her doctor husband. It burned her up with jealousy. She waddled past the Captain's quarters and heard much of the same coming from Mal and Inara. And she knew the happily married couple was occupied. The only one she had to worry about was Zoe as she walked through the common area and then finally to the ship's bridge. She accessed the Nav-com and read the stats. Like she suspected, there was an Alliance Cruiser shadowing them. "Must've started while the crew was all occupied with weddings and celebrations and not including me," Saffron pouted. She was tired of being treated like the red headed stepkid of Mal's crew. Especially after Simon's rejection. She opened the Cortex and waved The Alliance Cruiser. "I want off this boat, Joshua," Saffron said. "As soon as you do as I told you." "I'm tired of taking orders from you!" She sighed. "Did you get what I told you to?" "He won't let me get that close!" "You've been seducing men your entire life and you can't seduce a simple fugee doctor?" Joshua laughed at her. Saffron turned away hurt. "This is the end of our deal right? I do this and you pardon me, I disappear, and all is right with the verse?" "Just do as I asked, dong ma?" he ended the communication abruptly and Saffron sighed. "I wish it didn't haveta come to this," Saffron as she open the Nav-stat. "Nothing fancy, just a fuel leak, to force them to land," she thought outloud as she padded down to the engine room. ~ Mal and Inara laid together in blissful afterglow. Inara rest her chin on his chest as his fingers twirled her thick brown locks. He was so blissfully happy, he was almost giddy. He never felt this way before, even before the War. Inara smiled at Mal's failed attempts not to smile. She kissed his chest, the remenants of her red lipstick marked him above his heart. "I love you,'" she whispered against it. He gave into his happiness and smiled full out, teeth and all. "You make me weak woman," he sighed. "You like it," Inara teased and Mal shook his head. "Only in here, with you, I ain't allowed these moments with no one else," he said more to himself than her. "I know," she said more to herself than him he pulled her up so she was on top of him and she straddled his thighs. He ran his hands from down her strong but delicate shoulders down her breast to her abdomen. A minute tinge of hope hit her heart when he lingered there. He saw it in her eyes what she wanted, he moved his hands down to her thighs. "I don't want to bring a child in this world I can't raise, Nara," he said. Tears stung her eyes and she forced a smile. "I know," she said again as he slipped a hand down between them. She rose off him just enough so he could position himself at her entrance. She slowly sank down on him and he squeezed her ass from the sensation. "God woman," he groaned and Inara bent down and kissed him.

~ Simon slid off his panting wife on to the floor, his legs unable to hold him. He was covered in sweat and Kaylee. He realized then how much he truly missed her. Not just for the four days he was gone, but for the several months they had been on the outs. "Mmm, I'm gonna have bruises later," she moaned happily. Simon grinned and the pulled his pants up akwardly. He didn't realize he was crying until Kaylee slid off the cargo box down to him. She wiped his tears and he swallowed through the lump in his throat. "You deserve so much better than me," he said and Kaylee wiped his tears and kissed his forehead. He wrapped his arms around her waist. "Shh, you're talkin' nonsense, I don't want nothing but you," Kaylee hushed him and he shook his head. "I can't," he tok a deep breath and tried again. "I can't give you children Kaylee, I'm sterile." Kaylee tilted his face so they were eye to eye, "I want you, Simon, no matter what, dong ma? We just haveta be real good auntie and uncle." "I wanted so much to give you my child, you deserve so much more than what I have to offer, Simon shook his head, fresh tears rolling down his cheek. Kaylee let them fall, all the while assuring him that no matter what she still loved him and she swore to herself that they wouldn't leave that cargo bay until he believed her. ~ River was some place else, Jayne noted. She was far out to where ever the hell she goes and it was getting him mighty pissed. He released her breast from his mouth and gave up. They had already made love three times, maybe she was tired, but then again, she'd say if she was tired, he thought. And Gorram it, it was their wedding night. He had planned to make love to her until they both passed out. She was out all right, out of her mind, somewhere far, her eyes open, her mouth slack , her lips swollen from kisses, her soft flawless skin glowed under the shuttle's soft florescent lights. His body tightened, he wanted her badly, but he wanted her in her right mind, not in some kind of stupor. She had been this way for nearly thirty minutes. Right after she came the third and final time. She turned away from him and there she laid motionless, staring far out to nowhere, like she was no longer in her own body. The thought that maybe she wasn't in her body spurred Jayne into a panic. "Gorram it, River," he said, shaking her. He shook her again and still nothing. "Bao bei?' he said, and nothing. "River!" his heart raced and he rose his hand. Forgive me, he said in his mind and he went to strike her. She caught his hand. "I'm fine," she said. "Where'd you go?" Jayne asked herself kissing her mouth slowly. "The Academy." she answered, distantly. "You're faraways from that, ya hear?" he kissed her gently and pulled her close to him. "Sometimes I feel as if I never left, like this isn't real, just some manipulation of my mind," she held on tight to her husband. "I love you, Jayne," she sighed sleepily and he smiled. He touched her abdomen where their baby rested growing, she said bigger everyday. "I love you," he said. "I love you both." ~ Saffron clipped the fuel line, she watch as fuel spilled heavily unto the floor. She caught a sudden swift pain in her abdomen and she groaned clutching her stomach. "Now you stop that right now, this is no time to start this," she said and the pain subsided. She padded back to her bunk. It wouldn't be long until the sensors go off. She had to get back in her bunk and go to sleep. She laid down in her bed and another pain hit her. "Please not now," she whispered. "Not until we get back to your father."
