Chapter 7-- See Jayne Run. Run Jayne Run
"River, please stand aside so I can shoot Jayne," Mal, calmly asked as he pulled out his firearm. Kaylee grabbed Mal by the coat as he charged Jayne.
"Cap'n stop, they love each other," Kaylee yelled.
"That old hwoon dahn took advantage of an eighteen year old girl," Mal yelled.
"This eighteen year old girl seduced that old hwoon dahn," River said arms folded in front of her, calmly standing in front of Jayne.
"This is unacceptable, I'm not having this on my boat!" Mal said angrily.
"Fine give us our share of our money and we will be off Serenity when we get to Three Hills," River demanded and Jayne shook his head impressed with his woman. He chuckled shaking his head.
"Get that smile off your face, Jayne, before I shoot it off," Mal growled and Jayne's full smile went to a smirk.
"Cap'n Simon is not going to let her leave Serenity," Kaylee said. "And River ain't leavin, Jayne! Let's just get back on Serenity and we can all talk it out!"
Mal looked at Kaylee's pleading eyes and sighed, "Fine, but when Simon stabs you with his pointy operatin' tools, I ain't patchin you up!" he said to Jayne.
As soon as they got back on to Serenity Mal went stomping off to Simon.
"Pansy," Jayne muttered and River shook her head.
Inara walked down the cargo bay stairs after Mal angrily stormed past her. She saw Jayne and River holding hands and she closed her eyes and said a prayer for peace.
"Though I'm glad you two worked things out, I'm pretty sure Simon is going to have a stroke when he finds out," Inara said.
"I'll try to talk some sense into him," Kaylee promised and River hugged her.
I'll try to do the same with Mal," Inara added.
"Thank you, both," River said."I doubt it would be necessary. Simon might be over protective, but I do believe he realizes I'm a grown woman who can make her own choices."
Inara and Kaylee gave each other a look.
When Mal got into the infirmary he found Simon looking inside of a microscope.
"I got some distressing news for you concerning your sister," Mal announced and Simon looked up at him frantically.
"Shumma? Is she okay? What happened?" he stood up.
"Worst," Mal said putting his hand on his shoulder. "It's Jayne."
"Jayne? He did something to River? That doesn't sound right. What's going on?" Simon asked completely confused.
"Jayne has been sexin your sister! My Condolences," Mal said solemnly. Simon made a sound of relief and then laughed.
"That I already know," Simon said and Mal looked shocked.
"I figured it out while I was doing my inventory last night, I was missing two contraceptive shots, one I gave to Inara, the other was unaccounted for, It couldn't be Zoe for obvious reasons and Kaylee stopped taking shots six months ago. So that left River. After I figured out River took the shot, it was pretty easy to figure out who she was with, Jayne's the only available male," Simon hunched his shoulders.
"Why aren't you as pissed as I am about this, your sister is sleeping with Jayne!" Mal yelled and Simon rubbed his eyes an sighed.
"Because she's happy. She's not had one nightmare in the last few weeks. She's thinking clearly than ever, she's putting on weight, and she's more present when we're all together than she's ever been in her life. And yes, I really hate that it was Jayne of all people, given our history, but he's turned on a light in her I thought the academy dimmed forever," Simon admitted.
"So you're okay with it?" Mal asked and Simon nodded slowly.
"However," He stopped Mal as he made for the door with his head down, disappointed that he wasn't going to be able to kick Jayne's pi gu for deflowering his lil albatross. "That doesn't mean I'm not going to have some fun with Jayne, it's only fair, he did try to throw us off Serenity more than once," Simon went in his desk and pulled out a little green box an handed it to Mal.
"I thought we had another box of those," Mal said and they both grinned evilly.
Jayne was in the cargo bay with River and Kaylee waiting for Simon to march down the stairs and give him Hell. Jayne decided that he'd even let the poor hwoon dahn get a hit in. It was his right as an older brother to defend River's honor. He'd do no less if it was his own sisters.
It didn't take long for Simon followed by Mal to come. Jayne braced himself for the hit as Simon swung with all his might. It was a nice shot right int the jaw, even staggered Jayne a bit.
"You dirty ching-wah tsao duh liou mahng*!" Simon yelled angrily.
"Look Simon, I can explain," Jayne said backing up.
"I want him and his dirty man ape hands off this boat!" Simon said to Mal.
"If he goes I go," River said, her brother's mind was strange, like he was lying, but not. He was very confused.
"He violated my sister, Mal!" Simon complained. Jayne held his hands in front of him.
"I did not, she were willing!"
"She were not in her right mind, that's what she were," Simon mocked Jayne.
"I was so, in my right mind, you-you boob!" River yelled more angry with her older brother than she had ever been.
" 'Sides I'd never force a woman crazy or not!"Jayne said offended. He had been accused of many things in his life and had done most, but rape, that ain't ever been one of them.
"I should shoot you for what you did," Mal said and pulled out his gun.
"Mal be reasonable," Inara pleaded, grabbing his arm.
"Hey, hey now, I ain't ever rape a woman, never, especially not River," he said.
River looked at her Captain Daddy and read anger, but also amusement coming from him. This confused her.
"They really love each other Simon," Kaylee said. Simon looked at Kaylee and then at Jayne.
Mal gave the gun to Simon, Simon aimed it and cocked it, "You love my sister, Jayne?"
"Simon put the gun down!" Kaylee yelled, terrified that this was gonna get bloody and she wasn't completely sure Simon would not get hurt.
"Yes, I love her. I wouldn't of been with her if I weren't," Jayne said, his heart racing.
"Mal, stop this please," Inara pleaded.
Mal shook his head,"Jayne, brought this on his self!" Mal said coldly.
"You promise to take care of her, Jayne?" Simon asked and Jayne nodded vehemently. "I don't believe you," Simon pulled the trigger, the gunshot was loud. All the ladies jumped. Inara shook her head and Kaylee covered her eyes. The bullet probably would of killed Jayne if it wasn't a plastic blank filled with neon paint. They had a box left over from Wash's last birthday party when they played paintball in the cargo bay.
Jayne was on the floor flat on his back, his chest stung like a son of a bitch, but he was alive. He touched where the paint landed on his shirt and looked at his fingers. He sighed, when he realized it was neon green he was looking at and not red. Mal and Simon laughed loudly.
"Simon, I'ma kill you!" Kaylee hit her man angrily on the arm. "You scared the living daylights outta me," she complained and Simon put his arms around her.
"I'm sorry bao bei, but it had to be done, he's sleeping with my sister," Simon hunched his shoulders.
"You think you're really funny don't you?" Inara said to Mal and then angrily stormed off.
"Nara, it was a joke," Mal ran behind her.
River went over to Jayne and helped him up, she touched were the paint filled blank hit him, "I hope you're done," she said to Simon giving him that "I should kill you with my brain glare" and Simon nodded.
"Except for one thing," He stepped into Jayne's face. "You hurt her and I swear to God the next time I shoot you it will be very real." He swore and Jayne's respect for Simon grew tenfold and then he punched Simon in the stomach for his little prank.
"That's for ruining my last yellow t-shirt," Jayne said. As Simon sputtered and coughed, Jayne took River's hand.
"We'll be in our bunk," Jayne announced.
Kaylee went to Simon and helped him to his feet, "You deserved that, you know."
"I know."
"You can't be playing those mean jokes on people like that, it's cruel."
"I'm sorry, bao bei."
"You honestly scared me half to death!"
"I'm sorry, love." Simon said.
"And -and you are sleeping on the couch tonight Mister!" Kaylee stormed off and Simon nodded.
It was worth it, he thought.
