Bushs' mandate for the USA
... what is it?

As far as I know, the weirdest thing about the 2004 election is the fact neither candidate even bothered to promise anything!

They just talked about Iraq, gay marriage, and health care. Am I wrong?

How bizzare is that???

President Bush promised many times, in specific language, that he was NOT going to reinstate the draft...

so I'll be interested in seeing how he gets around that, he can't force the 'reserves' to stay over there forever.

Yes, you are right in a sense. Both sides made promises..in many cases pandering promises.

In my opinion Bush doesn't have Carte Blanche (A True Mandate) and god knows, if he doesn't get his spending under control, there will be a couple of Bush balls nailed to a wall in the White House.

He has got to reach across the aisle this term. The days of Deep Right and Deep Left are over.

I imagine he will try to pass more tax cuts..god Help us. I received a $300 check in the mail the first go around and thought WTF. We just eliminated a $6 trillion surplus so people could buy a few cases of beer or an X-Box LOL (J/K). In my opinion the $6 trillion could've gone along way for social causes as well as AIDS research. I wrote to my senators and congressmen about it. Unfortunately..it was to no avail.

He will try to pass the Marriage Amendment - (which pisses me off in alot of ways)

He will try to do more in terms of education reform. This is needed dramatically and should start by paying QUALIFIED teachers more (we need to fire all teachers who can't get their kids to pass the simplest reading and writing exams). We need to start expanding school resources and we also need to expand funding for college to those less fortunate.

He will try to pass Torte reform. This is a highly important reform because it ultimately will reduce the cost of healthcare and increase the likelihood that folks can acquire insurance and quality healthcare.

He will try to initiate social security reform by trying to privatize it. This scares the hell out of me. I can see $ signs in the eyes of the Enrons of the world already. I would much rather they (the federal government)reform themselves and stop sticking their grubby mitts in the cookie jar for non-social security issues.

He will try to privatize Health insurance..another Goddamn great idea. I've already started writing letters against this. I don't know how many people already use 401k's , but holy christ I've lost my ass and alot of my retirement savings due to corruption. All I need is another way for the stock market and the folks who pretend to care about my money to milk me dry. We need to fix frivolous lawsuits and make Health insurance affordable rather then trying to privatize it.

Those are just a few things.. hehe

He'll get around it by withdrawing troops from areas like Germany and Japan and other wasted stationings, and rotate them over to the Middle East. Strangely enough the recruitment rate is still fairly high. All I have to say about that is, we better not leave their asses or their families hanging when it comes time to repay them for their service.

He’s trying to get fine self respecting Navy (Wo)men to become army grunts.

Sheesh can't wait until North Korea or China finally starts something and we don't have sufficient sailors to man all our Frigates and Destroyers. (Not that it matters since our Perry Class Missile Frigates are now officially target practice for air threats and who would want to be on them, I think they’ve forgotten what happened to the Brits in the Falklands War.)

At least they’re getting rid of a whole bunch of uniforms they didn't need and are getting some new stylish blue gray camo.
