On the subject of real news, have you seen "How To Spot a Homeschooler" at The Bee?

So why the disconnect? Perhaps it’s like the old saying about the key to good real estate: Location, location location. Most of the national media are located in two places: New York City and Washington, D.C.

In the 2020 election, just 9 percent of Manhattan voters voted for Donald Trump. In D.C., the Trump support was just 5.4 percent, underscoring that those who live in or near these cities exist in overwhelmingly liberal silos. It’s only human nature that a journalist’s perception of issues will generally conform to the places and people with whom he works and lives.

Well, that's a kind explanation.

If you schmooze with spox long enough and you depend on getting your "news" from them (letting them do the story-selection for you, as well as the spin) eventually you come to see things the spox' way. It's like embedding journos into a fighting force- they see only what they're supposed to see and feel they depend on those soldiers for their safety, so they write from the military's POV.

It is only PART of the explanation, sure. But not so insignificant as to be dismissed. It is actually refreshing to see it in writing.

----

I had to look up "spox" before I wrote the next part (spokesperson). Yes... That is exactly what I was going to write about.

----

In the circles I run with, this is called "Access Journalism".

It's what has been plaguing the reviews for movies and video games for well over a decade now. The "Journalists" at the "news" outlets are only allowed to give glowing reviews to the movies and games of the big players because if they don't they (as well as the organization they write for) will not be allowed early access to view or play their next Blockbuster or Triple A game and in a world where the print media and even digital media is seeing cutbacks and layoffs all the time, it wouldn't be long before these organizations shut down or are bought off by the competition if all of their reviews are coming in later than the competition that is more than happy to polish turds to keep the money rolling in.

What's made it even worse is that at some point most of the real journalists have either left these organizations or have been cast out and blacklisted from them and replaced by woke college educated weirdos that don't actually give a shit about movies or video games but are all too happy to write glowing reviews for them based solely off of the amount of woke messaging contained in them, to hell with good storytelling, interesting characters or breathtaking cinematography.

And because of this, everyone (except for the customer/consumer) gets what they want. The production company of the game or movie gets their glowing review for their next piece of crap they put out. The organization who puts the reviews into print get their money and guaranteed early access to the next big turd. And the new wave of "Journalists" who write the pieces don't lose any sleep over dealing with selling out their integrity for a paycheck because they don't actually give two shits about the thing they're writing about other than there being a lot of messaging they approve being in it.

This model has worked for them for a pretty long time now, but it's starting to backfire. For years there have been people who were aware of all of this going on, but the Normies didn't.

$6/gallon of gas after a winter of record high heating costs and insane prices on everything tend to open a lot of eyes which otherwise do whatever they can to stay firmly shut.

It's always funny (and honestly, sad) to see when people start to understand the bits and pieces of how the media they've been consuming for the last 20 years actually works. If you think it's just "Them" then you haven't learned anything. In fact, you've only gotten dumber. The "Them" is the thing We have created. Consumers. "They" M$M, don't exist without us. It will break some minds and might make a few people here pass out trying to follow, but we are watching ourselves reflected back at us. All the while people make money off our mood swings and impulses. They do control us and WE (not you individually) unknowingly for the most part - make it so fcking easy.

You've never once made an honest attempt at discussion since you've posted here, Cap'n.

Mighty good of you to half-concede how terrible your choice is making life for everyone though.

Good on Bob for pointing out how TPTB managed to flip the Democrat and Republican party ideologies over the last 20 years.
