Signs grow of Trump subpoenas and indictments in New York and Georgia

Legal experts are picking up “signals” that the Trump team is bracing for subpoenas or indictments in the New York City and Georgia investigations into the former president.

Washington, D.C.-based public interest lawyer John Banzhaf, who prompted the election interference investigation in Georgia, said the case is heating up. He noted that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is struggling for documents from Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who is said to be “lawyering up.”

Meanwhile, Willis has hired a special prosecutor who had a role in the Whitewater case against former President Bill Clinton.

Banzhaf also noted that in New York, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. has added a forensic accountant in his investigation of old Trump financial deals and taxes.

Does this follow from your constant reiteration that Trump is innocent until proven guilty? You are probably unaware that tax collection in America is an honor system where the rich tell the government how much will be paid and the government can only know what the rich are willing to tell it. If the rich are dishonorable, Trump for one example, the guy who keeps tax returns a secret, the rich don't pay and the government will have to find some convoluted way to roughly estimate how much is owed. And then the government has to try to prove it, but without any cooperation from the dishonorable rich tax scofflaw.

The Federal tax system depends on the richest tax payers being honorable. (Poorer tax payers are kept in line by their employer's accountant being honest when filing the W-2 form.) If dishonorable, a rich tax payer, with an accountant who is very flexible about verifying numbers from his rich client, can set whatever tax he wants to pay. The Federal government has not yet been able to crack either Trump or the accountant, so Trump keeps paying between zero and $750 per year. On Tuesday, New York State Attorney General Letitia James' office announced that it has formally joined the New York City civil investigation into disgraced former president Donald Trump's business dealings. Trump could have gone directly from the floor of the Senate to a term in a federal prison for sedition, but 12 GOP Senators were afraid to punish Trump because of what would happen to the Senators, not to Trump, when the Senators returned to their home states.

Trump was trying to split Russia from China by being levle-headed with Russia and applying maximum pressure on China. But because the tankbrain neocons in DC thought it wouldbe a good idea to use Russia as a bogeyman (RUSSIA! COLLUSION!) Trump never got to implement that policy.

Now, Russia and China have an .actual.military.alliance and we are in a 100% no-holds-barred arms race with Russia on the technological front, and an arms race with China in the production aspect.

And both China AND Russia are pissed off together at us, and coordinating their economic, financial, politcal, cyber, and military strategies.

Meanwhile, the USA and the EU have been economically crippled by Covid-19, don't produce much anymore (except Germany) and are riven by identitarian strife and political correctness.

I just don't see how Biden* even recognizes what's going on, and how he can fix our (many) problems. He* thinks* that if he throws some money to the climate change faction and some money to the gender/race faction he can skate thru politically, but he can't bc factionalism and debt are a big part of the problem, not solutions!

Although Congress has not declared war since 1942, Congress does NOT need to go to some Federal Court and ask permission from a judge to bomb a country off the face of the Earth. You might not understand that, but it is true. You might not understand that Congress could have locked up Trump without going to court, but it is true. President Biden would have provided the muscle to arrest Trump, if Congress asked, and as a reminder, without going to a Federal judge. A majority of both houses of Congress did declare Trump guilty. The same number in Congress, or fewer, could declare war on Russia or China and no judge could stop that war. Or a war on Trump. Congress has done it before against American citizens, but much like declaring international warfare, Congress hasn't done it lately.

No, I'm not defending Trump. But unlike you, I'm a real American. And I'm defending the American foundational concept "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law".

Maybe you've heard of that, wherever it is you live? But I'm guessing you're too stooopid to understand what that means. Because if you did understand it you wouldn't have Trump convicted and jailed before there's even a trial.



In the meantime, why don't you explain to us all why you - and SLOPPY, of course - keep bringing up Trump. He's not the president anymore. Have you grasped that concept yet?

1kiki, your understanding of the American legal system is stuck at the elementary school level. Why not just say, as all Trumptards would, that Trump is NOT guilty because you and he say he is NOT guilty. Don't drag into this your childish misunderstandings about how the courts work. What a prosecuting lawyer would say is that Trump has not been indicted by a grand jury. Innocent or guilty is not something a grand jury decides. The final decision is for an appeals court ten or fifteen years from now, after a jury has decided Trump is guilty and Trump's lawyers take his conviction to every court in the land, including the Supreme Court, in an expensive effort to overturn a decision about a tax cheating crime Trump committed back in 2010. Maybe Trump will be lucky and die from obesity before the final decision. Wouldn't that be nice! He could say for the rest of his life that he was "innocent" and his estate will pay the taxes Trump owed since 2010. (Trump's heirs will probably be sued to pay what Trump's estate owed in taxes. Litigation for that will take years and will be stymied by the bankruptcy of Trump's children. With the best lawyers, Trump's taxes from 2010 will never be paid.)

There are only 2 states in the US formulation:
presumed innocent
proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law

Under "investAgation?" means presumed innocent.
Indicted means presumed innocent.
At trial means presumed innocent.

Until the person is convicted, they are presumed innocent.
