So, Mikey having made the suggestion, I couldn't resist the mental exercise of picking one out.
Bank Robbing team, hmmm.

Am rolling mine out off the Five-Bad-Band Trope, with a little mix-n-match on roles.

Mikey, DEFINATELY Mikey - he's big and scary (to strangers) and can double up as getaway driver.

Anthony, certainly - crowd control, he's so polite nobody would argue with him, practically stockholm syndrome waiting to happen.

HKCav - bagman, cause we can trust him with the money, and he's such a smooth talker I'm sure he could help us launder it quite nicely.

Niki - lookout/diversion, a little old lady with a pair of aggressively friendly huskies, couldn't ask for better!

Byte - Safecracker/electronics, maybe a bit of a stretch but I'd lay good odds there's a superpowered evil side in there just waitin to happen

and it's SCIENCE!, innit?

And having two getaway drivers opens up the Bait-n-Switch gambit while I lead the forces of law and order on a merry little chase as the ServiceAmerica or Eby Brown (depending on which is more ubiquitous to the area) Van containing the actual loot smoothly disappears into the flow of traffic, meh heh heh.

So, any other takers ?

Man, I need to learn some crazy skills. Do I know crazy skills? I guess I'm pretty good at chemistry and physics but not so much street or explosives chemistry. I'm not great at electronics, I'd have to study up on wires, I've got some rudimentary skill at computers but I think I've only broken into one or two of those when I've been white hatting. Admin accounts are usually pretty easy, and unlike regular user accounts don't often get passwords reset or follow secrity memos. It's usually like account name: admin, password: (organization abbreviation)1, sometimes with some underscores tossed in. Or password: 123456 or qwerty or asdfgh or 000000 or if they're really uncreative "password". And that's if they even bothered to password protect the admin account, a lot of times they don't think of that.

But I'm pretty sure DT and Frem are way better than me at computer tricks. Some point I need to look into investing in some understanding of engineering. Frem's also better with animals, as well as Niki, though I've talked down guard dogs before.

Blaaaaather. Anyway.

In the AU world where this would, and could, happen: I'd take Byte and Frem. Byte because she's one of the bravest toughest people I know and Frem because he's Frem and can do just about anything. Also having Quicko there would be good, he could intimidate everyone into submission.

Besides, bank robberies are for idiots. There are a lot of softer targets that present less risk, and more opportunity.

I think Niki would make an important component to this team. She can hold a free speech rally across town, causing the authoritarian government to assign their entire police force to observe them. This would utterly ruin police response times.

I think we can secure her help by promising her a percentage of the proceeds to go to people who have been illegally foreclosed upon.

I think it was more a general discussion thing about people's ideas for a "crew" than specifically about a bank robbery.

I agree there's better options, I'm not sure you need to tell anyone here that.

As for an inside man, that's yet another reason Anthony is on The Team. That, and his outside-the-box thinking (an Occupy distraction across town? Beautiful - it's effective AND sends a message. It's almost artistic in its elegance!)

So, Frem, Anthony, Byte, and Niki - although Niki might be an unwitting accomplice, in the interests of plausible deniability, since she might not willingly go along with anything untoward, but could still provide a necessary and valuable service.

There are others, of course. Geezer would definitely get an audition, because regardless of his ideologies and political beliefs, he has smarts and critical thinking skills.

One word, and think about it:

Flashmob.

Consider the implications re: getaway. Imagine you pull off the job, you actually get outside with the loot; how do you get away clean?

Flashmob. People show up, all dressed in the same "uniforms", and they just happen to be the same exact ones your team is wearing. Except there are hundreds of them. And then they all disperse, going to the four winds. Who's real, and who's the robber? And how do you stop and search all of them?
