A number of the states from Idaho eastward should be able to see the northern lights tonight and maybe tomorrow. as well as much of Canada. Look for them between 1 and 3 am. So if you're up there, definitely have a look. Frem! This means you! And I think Oonj as well.

Did you see any last night?

Wasn't payin attention, plus.. full moon, and that's a lot of light already.
(for me, anyways)
I'll have a look though, since that's during my work shift anyways.

Oh. Yeah, that's true. But! It's supposed to be really high activity tonight, which means even in full moonlight you might still be able to see it. Sometimes in high activity, the aurora seems almost as bright as daylight.

Apparently up in cache county in Utah they were able to see it last night, even WITH the full moon, it was fainter than it might have been otherwise but still very active. Look for a lot of shifting shimmering flowing. Usually greens, but you might even see some pinks, or they might even be white (so they might be hard to tell from clouds). When I saw them in Alaska it was in big bands stretched out horizon to horizon, but based on the videos from last night they might look more like discrete blotches.

Good luck on your rounds. :) If you do see them, me and Riona would be interested to know if you also HEAR them. They sound a little like fluorescent lights if you can.

Too much cloud cover, can't really SEE anything, but it is pretty bright, oh yes.

And OF COURSE I can hear it, well duh.

I mean, I can hear what I call "The Earthsong", which the Hum is part of, so the crackle and buzz of the aurora when it comes in that close is pretty obvious to me.

Thing is, the Hum (which is, btw Lunar in origin) the Hiss of daylight, and the Earthsong, I am not sure they're completely auditory, but whether it's felt or heard, exactly, I can and do detect it - in fact various mufflings and distortions locally are one of the ways I detect other people outside at night - and I think the animals do as well, plus scent, but I shortcut it and watch the animals first for cues.

Aw. That's too bad.

DT says he was able to see something in New York, at the time he thought it was just something in his contacts.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

Sometimes when it is utterly silent, I hear a faint noise like a kind of faint ringing. But I am told this is a defect like tinitus. Once real sounds surface, this ringing tends to go away.

Never forget what this man is. You keep forgiving him his trespasses and speak to him as though he is a reasonable human being. You keep forgetting the things he's advocated. If you respond to this man again, you are being foolish.

WElcom to the alete Frem, we get to hear the Aurora and other people don't.

Its cloudy here in OR, but if people in UTah saw them then maybe, just maybe, we could here too if it wasn't cloudy.
