"Rowland says the program is legal and doesn't violate separation of church and state issues because it allows the offender to choose church or jail...and the church of their choice." Doesn't violate separation of church and state, eh? My ass!

That's sickening.

Think they'll add THIS to the list of churches ?

Phoenix Goddess Temple linked to prostitution

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a six-month investigation has resulted in the arrest and indictment of 18 people connected to the Phoenix Goddess Temple, where undercover investigators say they found workers performing sex acts in exchange for money.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office said Thursday that among the individuals arrested were men and women "practitioners" and Goddess Temple founder Tracy Elise.

Yeah, that wouldn't be such "hard" time, would it? Or how about the Universal Life? Tho' I don't think they have any "churches"...can you get a church through the mail?

And did I not recently point out that courts HAVE been sentencing Juvie offenders to this and worse at the hands of the AoG sponsored hellcamps like Teen Challenge, complete with source documentation ?

And of course, no one stood up then - teens don't get to vote, and adults who do generally scapegoat them and leave them swinging, like they did with Zero Tolerance and such...

And once again, here we are, having refined such an abuse on those unable to prevent it, with our complicity and apathy aiding the process - now they turn and point it at us.

Hell yes it violates seperation of church and state, so too for that matter does the extra consideration of "getting religion" in prison counting for points with the parole board, so long as it's one SPECIFIC religion (no muslims need apply..) - and so on and so forth.
We're so steeped in religious bias and intolerance here in the US that to most folks it's invisible, but it sure as hell isn't to me.

I do like the idea of manipulating it for advantage, as proposed here - but then again that too rubs up against the government sponsorship of religion and intolerance of same, in that only "approved" religions get official status or tax breaks, and what happened with the persecution/prosecution of that one is a classic example.

While I am well aware of my own bias in the matter, there ARE reasons for my bitter hostility towards a religion that has slimed its way into the halls of our government and by that action corrupted both that government and itself.

Anyhows, perhaps if more people had stood up and brought the boom down on this bullshit when they were inflicting it on teens, it wouldn't be aimed at adults now - let that be just one more lesson on the ever growing pile for what HAPPENS when you ALLOW injustice, so long as it's not aimed at you...
Cause one day, it will be.

Devilry indeed. Satanism is a recognized religion, isn't it?
