Oh lordy. Some jokes become jokes because they are so close to the truth. One of the jokes tweeted about the earthquake was "You see? You see? You people legalize gay marriage, then this happens!" Now this:
Quote:

As the swaying tremors of an earthquake rattled up the East Coast yesterday so too did split-second explanations for the jolts that shook the nation’s capital. Was it a terrorist attack? A sign of the apocalypse? A wake-up call from God?

While most of these fears dissipated as quickly as the shaking of the buildings, conservative blogger Joseph Farah insisted the quake was more than a naturally-occurring tectonic shift. The WorldNetDaily publisher wrote that instead, the 5.8 magnitude earthquake was a sign from God that D.C. politics must change, a sign amplified by the one-two punch of the earthquake and the approaching hurricane Irene.

“Occasionally God really does shake things up as a sign to us of the consequences of disobedience and indifference to our Creator,” Farah wrote in his op-ed.

Farah went on to warn that “there will be a bigger one coming” because “Washington, D.C., deserves more than the wallop it got today. It needs a much bigger shaking up than it got,” he wrote.

But Farah’s “sign from God” comments are nothing new to the discussion of natural disasters.

Conservative commentator Glen Beck said this year’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan that killed more than 14,000 people was a “message” from God.

"I'm not saying God is, you know, causing earthquakes," he said on his radio show in March. But Beck added that he's "not not saying that either."

Other natural disasters that have been blamed on the wrath of the almighty include the Haiti earthquake, which Christian televangelist Pat Robertson blamed on the country being “cursed” because it made a “pact to the devil,” and Hurricane Katrina, which Texas mega-church pastor John Hagee said was the “curse of God” for the “sinful conduct” in New Orleans. http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2011/08/conservatives-see-hand-of-god

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

"Farah went on to warn that “there will be a bigger one coming” because “Washington, D.C., deserves more than the wallop it got today. It needs a much bigger shaking up than it got,” he wrote. "I know this," he elaborated, "because I think like God. He's mysterious and unfathomable to others, but I understand him. You might even say I am God. In fact, let's just say that. I am God, and I am sending more Earthquakes at you. Boom, Baby, Boom!"

It isn't my place to say what is, or isn't a punishment or warning from God, nor is it anyone else's place either, so I don't do it. The most likely cause of an earthquake is ... wait for it ... plates moving around, its what the earth does after all, it does it a lot, sometimes a little sometimes a big. :)

Someone mentioned the video of the lawn chair today at work. :)

I did hear that they're going to have to have the dedication of the new MLK monument elsewhere because the cathedral they had chosen has had a little bit of movement in its stones so they have to make sure its safe first, which will, for some reason, take a bit of time.

That's twice you've tried to claim that. You really don't understand a thing about how earthquakes work, or global climate change, do you?

Better get back to the shallow end of the gene pool, Wulfie.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I get google news alerts for Fukushima, and there's a report saying aliens caused the earthquake. It must be true, I read it in the online news. So THERE!

OOo, ooo, ooo...THAT's it, Riona! The dedication of the MLK monument! That MUST have been it, especially as it damaged the building where it was supposed to be held. God hates Black men! Of COURSE, why didn't we think of it before?

Wulf doesn't understand anything about anything, Mike, you know that! It's just more of his silly snarking, he's too clueless to have anything pertinent to say on the matter.
