Would it be so far fetched to think that this administration would send such military folk just to hand out MRE's and bottled water ?

To be quite honest, I can't see them sending over 2,000 Marines to sit in the Mediterranean and look pretty.

But Barry said... no troops. Which means no troops, right ?

Right ?

Well, Dubya said "WMD", and look how that turned out, right?

Right?

"No boots on the ground" was a lie the second that F-15E augered in. We had U.S. boots on the ground, followed by search and rescue teams putting MORE troops in Libya.

Anyone who's stupid enough to think that there's any such thing as a pushbutton war with no dirty work really does need to have their head examined. Or they should join the military and join the fun.

MRSCOBB: My condolences on your son joining the military.

So, what's your point ?

Come on. Even you can't be serious as to believe that. Why even make such an asinine statement ? Why ?

Advisors ? Spotters ? Spooks ? Are these considered 'boots on the ground ' ? I think most folks would agree that such terminology is reserved for actual combat troops, infantry, and the like. I don't doubt we have 'someone' on the ground, just not elements of the 1st Armored Division.

Yet.

I guess Obama needs his head examined then.

Raptor, you're splitting hairs ridiculously. I have no doubt we have people IN THE MILITARY somewhere in Libya, but everyone understands "no boots on the ground" means no military troops going openly and in force to battle someone on the ground of that nation. The vernacular is understood by everyone with half a brain, and trying to parse it to mean something else is sad rationalization.

The point being - and what Rappy missed, not because he didn't "get it", but simply because he CHOSE to misunderstand - that there's no such thing as a war or military action that DOESN'T put troops on the ground. It's a myth, the idea that you can militarily invade or take over a country from a distance.

Sure, we have "advisers" there... yeah, right. Heard that before, a time or seven. We had "advisers" at the Bay of Pigs, in Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia, Korea, Somalia, Afghanistan, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Panama, Grenada... Anywhere the "advisers" start, troops invariably follow.

The only ones stupid enough to believe otherwise are those who join up to be cannon fodder and those who cheerlead every war. We all know which kind Rappy is...

Kwickie - You're beyond a complete and total idiot.

That, or you simply can't read.

I stated exactly what you just said, w/regards to spooks, advisors and such. I even went so far as to spell it out for you AND NIKI, and yet the both of you are still squabbling over absolutely nothing.

So you agree that we do indeed have boots on the ground in Libya. Thanks for clarifying!

I'll repeat this again, since you obviously didn't read it the first time....

Now, you and Niki may enter into the Thunder-dome, and fight amongst yourselves. I've said my piece.

Yes, and I pointed out that wherever we've put advisers, we've invariably followed with troops. Obama said no troops on the ground, which you seem to support his view on, and I say there's no military action that DOESN'T involve troops on the ground.

We have boots on the ground now, and we'll add more. Mark my words.
