LMFAO.

They're not even TRYIN, that's just sad - not only does the footwear give them away, they're trying to slip into a crowd of young, skinny college students, and not even PRETENDING to be anything other than obvious cops, in fact that's SO bad I would be lookin for OTHER provacateurs sneaking in while everyone else was laughing at/glaring at them.

Of course, efforts to slip into Gus's black bloc stopped after leading some of those tag alongs into a dark area out of view of cameras, where they apparently fell down and had an ... accident - kinda like protesters do when the cops catch them alone, right ?

Protesters are right though, if the cops are gonna dress up like protesters, well then, the protesters oughta dress up like cops, and then make a LEGAL issue out of it in both directions if the cops take issue with it.

Heaven knows, I got plenty of uniforms (I got em via bulk discount) if anyone had the guts to try.

I don't see them provoking anything in this video - typical smart approach to knowing what "the enemy" is doing is to infiltrate, though I agree with Frem, their attempt is laughable. I was at a pig roast (hey! where they roast a whole hog) given by a police officer in which many police were present - to a man they had the "I lift" physique. Maybe if they weren't all 3 together...

But I'm as disappointed in the protesters. They had a great opportunity to humanize the situation and they resorted to chants, "Eff the Police!" It just reinforces the police attitudes toward the protesters, each side just playing their roles.

Well, it depends on how many, and their attitudes about it, mask or not you can see how uptight they are, maybe even a little scared, watch their body movements - it looks like some level of fear/aggression response, and that's hard to crack.

My primary inroad to pysch warfare against most infiltrators is humor, if I can make them laugh, I can crack in and start workin em.

We got some guys in Redford like that, just swept up around them and started singing the theme from COPS (badly) and they just couldn't help themselves, started cracking up - wound up having coffee and discussing stuff - we were doin a corner-stand protest with signs in efforts to support the unionisation of Starbucks by the IWW, and got to discussion unions with them too, since the police union hasn't been performing to their satisfaction as of late.

As you say, the human element, which I see as strength instead of weakness, and the way to turn enemies into allies.

(It's a running joke with the wayne county PD that if they ever have to arrest me, first thing they're gonna do is gag me before I "do that voice of saruman thing" on them, cause they have a really overblown idea of how good I am at it.)

Okay, that was the worst infiltrate I've seen in a long time. I think the protestors didn't want to win the sympathy of the police, they wanted to provoke them into doing something that would make headlines, and also prove their belief that police were stupid and evil. The won on the stupid part.

So why is Luke Rudowski's name censored from that list? He even pled guilty and paid a $100 fine. How many 100s of other names are censored from arrest blotter?

 That's a freaking awesome idea - but only so long as you can keep the gas-drenched guy or gal well clear of the crowd, so they don't immolate others when they go up. And of course, if they're apart from the crowd, they're probably not going to be that juicy a target for the pain beam operators...

But if you could do it, and get it on video, there would be SUCH a backlash against the police and their "non-lethal" toys.

Exactly. Best way to stop this is media warfare and discredit the "non-lethal" bullcrap... It's torture, plain and simple.

And if it startles the cops enough, they might turn off the damn machines. Two very positive possible outcomes.

Multiple people in the crowd might try wearing the suits, be standing in the front looking intimidating, just slightly apart so the other people aren't affected by the fire.

Do be aware that the stuntfolks who do this for a living don't do burns for more than a few seconds, wear very special clothing and masks, use very specific flammables, and have plenty of others on hand to quickly put them out with CO2 extinguishers and fireproof blankets. Anyone trying to do this with less than professional training, equipment and safety support is likely to get hurt real bad.

If folks are gonna do this kind of spoofing, I'd suggest talking with the effects pros and maybe trying some of the less dangerous but just as graphic stuff. Imagine someone made up with burns on their upper torso. When the ADS goes on, scream, tear off the shirt, writhe on the ground a bit, and be carried off. No danger, but a good show.

The idea of using a stunt man also occurred to me, though it can't be anyone who could be immediately recognized. Don't want to be discredited as a hoax.

Perhaps less then a full body burn would also work best, with the flammable chemicals mostly on the torso, which would be the biggest target for the ADS anyway. And that would be the easiest to put out. I like the idea of someone with a fireproof blanket nearby, that's more readily believable than someone with a fire extinguisher, as regular fires can be put out by smothering as well.

The burn make-up idea is a good one, less showy, but it might also work. Perhaps a combination of the two in different places.

Eh, even if discredited, it still might startle some of these cops, which could work to the advantage of the protesters for getting away or getting the cops to cease violence.

It's just an idea. I don't think any of us here like the idea of this ADS stuff? It's very police state feeling.

Again, operational and signal security, along with properly vetting your personnel in the first place.

Like it or not, it IS a de-facto police state we're dealing with here, even if no one wants to admit it.

Playing by the enemies rules is the surest road to defeat there is.

Carnegie Mellon University visiting professor Karen Piper told Channel 4 Action News that she was doing research about globalization and was not there to protest.

Piper said the loud noise ruptured her eardrum and caused major damage.

"The problem is the long-term hearing loss and there's nothing they can do about that," said Piper, who plans to speak to an attorney.

But police said that the LRAD is not a so-called "sound cannon" and does not have the technical ability to be used as one.

While the LRAD emits a harsh sound, it's set at a relatively safe level, officials said Thursday during a news conference in the parking lot of Pittsburgh Police Bureau headquarters.

I guarantee the cops will lose their hearing by LRAD.
