This is just priceless. Four cops in Hollywood, Florida are in deep shit because they were caught on the patrol car's camera going over their story about how to charge the young lady that one of them had just rear-ended at a stop light.

I pulled the personnel file of a cop who charged me with "reckless driving" at 50 mph in a 55 zone on the interstate. His file proved he crashed his patrol car into innocent bystanders 4 times in 5 years. How do you rear-end 4 cars in 5 years and have a clean driving record? His in-car vide oshowed him driving like a lunatic, weaving through traffic, even driving off the road in rush hour. Case dismissed, now he's a county commissioner, after the entire county commission and sheriff were fired for election fraud.

This is why cops routinely erase audio from videotape. That happened in a fed traffic ticket trial I've got on appeal

Same in the redlight sniper trial, with his alleged "confession" and "consent to search" his car and home erased from 2 videotapes. But the cops' lies are being proven perjury in court, since his alleged confession to getting a redlight ticket is contradicted by the fact he never got a redlight ticket. One cop literally had a meltdown o nthe witness stand this month, when his lies were clearly perjury to "consent" to steal $10,000 in guns from an "open" safe, contradicted by police photos showing a locked safe. Except the DA refuses to drop any charges in the "sniper" case, probably because cops confessed to shooting the scameras. All ballistic evidence was also destroyed be police and DA, bullets "disappeared" from the property inventory and the camera housing with bullet holes was "thrown away at the dump"...

BTW, for all I know, all teachers these days may, indeed, be position-abusing sexual predators...but I can tell you with certainty that, back in '82, Ms. Fowler (my biology teacher) was not. And I still haven't forgiven her for that.

I did not intend to imply that all police officers were bad guys, and I hope no one actually holds that position. There are in fact good policemen and I have known a few.

When I said 'these people' in the post above, I meant specifically 'these people involved in this incident.' In other words, all of their previous arrests and reports are now suspect. It is possible that several convicted persons will be able to have their cases reviewed based on this incident.

And believe me, I could go on - it's a culture of corruption which then leads inevitably to criminal behavior due to a sense of entitlement, social isolation cause no one (and quite justifiably!) likes them, and not only a lack of effective oversight, but laughable consequences for even the most greviously over the top behavior unless it happens to be caught on camera and finds it's way onto youtube or something.
(and perhaps even then!)

So yeah, I *DO* hold that position - and historically you might ponder that my predictions as to police behavior regarding being equipped with tasers were completely correct, despite not being given any credence - cause as I recall you were here and participating in those discussions, that discussion specifically, when I made them.

And they DO act like a mafia, they cover for each other, have a code of silence, intimidate witnesses, use extortion and blackmail - hell, I bet if you took any RICO case in the past fifteen years and replaced the plaintiffs name with "Los Angeles Police Dept" you could probably still prosecute the case and might have a better case OF it - and didn't they damn near have to do that with RAMPART ?

Throw in that in a lot of places, like Chicago and Detroit, almost as much IF NOT MORE money is spent paying out lawsuits and hush money compensation to those victimised by the police, or on legal defense of the police against their victims, or on internal and external investigations in a vain and hopeless effort to get them to PRETEND to act like human beings instead of fucking reavers with a badge.

Yes, that federal task force is STILL HERE, and we're STILL paying for it, and nothing has improved cause the DPD not only won't cooperate, but actively retaliates by harrassing it's agents and refusing to actually do their job, whining that the feds holding them to ANY standard of behavior is cramping their style, and so leaving the locals swinging in the breeze, many of whom have in the end decided that the police ain't worth the investment anyways since all they bring is crime and trouble.

And don't even get me started on the local county/district police here where I am, since part of my JOB involves defending this apartment complex from the predations and abuses of the local police department, as well as offering them the protection the police cannot be bothered to despite being paid via appalling sums of tax moneys to do.

Not to mention this police force has blown it's budget on legal bills and payouts associated with a corruption and abuse blowout that involved it's entire night shift, and then they had the nerve to DEMAND (complete WITH vague threats, in a public newspaper, mind you!) that we vote a new tax millage in to replace the money they pissed away via criminal jackassery, and then when we voted it down - went berserk and made even MORE less-vague, very public threats, and have left most of this side of the county swingin in the breeze - although, unsurprisingly their traffic enforcement (read: revenue generation) is rabidly efficient, overly so, since it tends to LEAD to those nightstick-workover abuse charges when some peon gets lippy about a really debateable or even outright bullshit ticket.

But good LUCK getting them to respond to anything else, cause your ass is gonna be waitin 2.5 hours, if they show at all, which they mostly don't - about the only time they'll show up HERE is when they wanna write some tickets, and they'll come creepin around, illegally, on private property, mind you - spot lighting folks plates lookin for out of date stickers and shit.

The property OWNER has told us personally they're not welcome here unless they are responding to a call, but acknowledges there's not a whole lot we can do beyond raise the difficulty/annoyance factor and serve as witnesses, since every one of my folks carries emergency audio recording devices and a digital camera for documentation purposes.

So from where I'm sittin, they're the fuckin bad guys, no doubt about it, ok ?

It ain't that this behavior has gotten worse over the past decade, it's that thanks to cruiser cam (the new tamper proof ones) and turning this surveillance society against them by citizens taking a stand, we're just CATCHING them at it more often, finally offering proof of what folks like me been saying all along - and the next step is the final acknowledgment of what they really are...

You may be able to make a case for some things. You may be able to, for instance, show how the structure and internal practices of the police department serve to support bad officers or engender an environment of corruption.

What you will not be able to do is show me that all officers are evil thugs. I believe strongly in the existence of good police officers, and I believe I have met a few. I think there would be more of them if the police department could be re-organized and re-trained.

Still, I really can't support the attitude that all cops = bad cops. And I hold this to be a falsehood even despite having met some bad cops and being subject to their whimsy.

We'll have to disagree on that point then.

Until we make them directly answerable to the communities they supposedly serve however, to me they are the enemy.

Given my experience via the city council fiasco with my former townships now defunct police dept, and my current local department, you can surely see why I feel the way I do.

FYI, The local city council keeps trying to buy me off cause in Nov I can register as a candidate, and they're oh so very NOT fond of that idea, oh hell no.

They wanna hire me for some very tempting chunk of change as a "consultant", which would then disqualify me from running - but tempting that it is, it's not their money to be throwing around like that, it's the local taxpayers and property owners money, who I highly doubt would approve that use of it unless said consultancy had some serious teeth, which it wouldn't.

I'd rather eat dirt than feast well on the lifeblood of people I sold out, thanks.

Besides which, even being a potential threat to em is enough to make em nervous, and that's a good influence on their behavior as it is.

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

In this case, 'cops' indicates the generic, not 'every cop'. So, for example, if one wishes to make a statement about generic cops - that 'cops' sometimes lie, then one tests the proposition that it is NOT true that 'cops' always tell the truth (this is the testable null). Then all one has to do is show that it has happened - a cop has lied - even once. And your case is proven.

As has been done here.

No, "cops" is the plural form of "cop", indicating that more than one cop lied, per the article cited. When you have four cops caught lying, you can say that "cops lie or 'embellish' their stories", and it's factually correct.

If I had meant to say ALL cops lie, or EVERY COP IS A LIAR, I'd have said that.

Cops lie. That's a fact. At the very least, it's supported by these four cops. And that's just one incident, in one police force (one apparently with a history of more than one cop lying).
