Unfortunately, there's folk on both sides who only want to fan the flames, and folk on both sides (mea culpa, mea maxima culpa) who respond to the fanning.

I, for one, would really like RWED to move away from the adversarial and evolve into a relatively polite discussion of issues. I realize that some folk, crouching behind the shield of internet anoniminity, prefer to play the bully or the spoiler, but I'd like to think that we can overcome that.

I note that when we (infrequently) manage to rise above our more base instincts, we are able to have pretty ineresting disucssions. I'm willing to commit to tying to keep things civilized.

Really, because the meaning of your statement, and the meaning of mine, were the same. So why is it poking fun when you do it, and "huffy" when I do. Sounds like a double standard that.

I'd add, that really there's people who can pull that off, and people who can't. Circumstances too. Middle of a flame war doesn't tend to be one of them.

Look man, I had no problem with you wanting Rap back. If that's what you want, go for it. As I said I'm indifferent, my only thought on the matter is that his leaving is more conducive too civil debate than his returning would be, but if he goes, returns, turns into a tap dancing mongoose, I really couldn't care less.

My problem was with this thing about him being a victim. He's been psychotically nasty to countless people, really the worst I've said to you here is positively polite to how he's spoken to others and myself. My only problem was with you casting him as the victim, when the truth is quite the reverse.

Sure maybe some of the bad blood between Rap and myself carried over to you, as the guy defending him, and I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry for some of the stuff I said that was beyond the pail. But at the same time, Rap has spoken to me and others in utterly disgusting ways, with absolutely no provocation beyond he couldn't get his own way. So when you tell us we're at fault for everything, or look to be doing so, and calling him a victim, it's like a punch in the face.

Not that that excuses anything, nor do I say it to do so, it's an explanation not an excuse. I'm merely trying to point out why what you said got my, and others backs up.

So I'm sorry too, and hope we can have a more civil discussion in the future.
