Where are referees watching the arguments/discussions and calling penalties on the internet? Where is the scorekeeper? Where are officials setting the rules? Nowhere. On the internet, the losers declare themselves the winners! There are no penalties for losers of arguments on the internet because it is only bits of data. Real world winners get tangible rewards, not bits. And real world losers lose their life, their job/money/house/marriage, or just end up sick while wasting time on the internet.

Quote:Originally posted by second: The Health Care System Has Collapsed As a resident physician who has only trained in an era of COVID—I was asked to consider graduating from school early in April 2020 to help with medical staff shortages—my time as a doctor has been defined by working in a system that has already collapsed. The American health system I work in has featured limited personal protective equipment, oxygen shortages, and the construction of field hospitals in convention centers and parking garages. Last winter, many hospitals across the country instituted crisis standards of care, forced to ration health services based on criteria that few people envisioned would be used outside of a mass casualty event, like a terrorist attack. Today, hospitals are full in much of the country, with patients requiring an ICU being airlifted thousands of miles in search of a staffed bed. These are not features of a health system that is approaching failure. These are features of a health care system that has broken down spectacularly, forcing doctors and patients to climb through the rubble looking for help. Quote: The materials confirm the grants supported the construction--in Wuhan--of novel chimeric SARS-related coronaviruses that combined a spike gene from one coronavirus with genetic information from another coronavirus, and confirmed the resulting viruses could infect human cells. (Recombinant DNA includes molecules constructed outside of living cells by joining natural or synthetic DNA segments to DNA molecules that can replicate in a living cell, or molecules that result from their replication. -Science Direct) The materials reveal that the resulting novel, laboratory-generated SARS-related coronaviruses also could infect mice engineered to display human receptors on cells ("humanized mice"). The materials further reveal for the first time that one of the resulting novel, laboratory-generated SARS-related coronaviruses--one not been previously disclosed publicly--was more pathogenic to humanized mice than the starting virus from which it was constructed... ...and thus not only was reasonably anticipated to exhibit enhanced pathogenicity, but, indeed, was *demonstrated* to exhibit enhanced pathogenicity. The materials further reveal that the the grants also supported the construction--in Wuhan--of novel chimeric MERS-related coronaviruses that combined spike genes from one MERS-related coronavirus with genetic information from another MERS-related coronavirus.

Now YOU'RE the one talking about killing people categorically. You sound just like WISHY, except you have a different target. Killing not for anything that anyone has DONE, but for what they THINK. After all, what have "scientists" done except given people the knowledge "how to"? But in today's world it's not "scientists" who decide where to implement a technology, it's TPTB. "Scientists" don't have the power and money to decide where to implement a technology, it's TPTB. They fuck up everything they touch. ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake

Yes, this is exactly what I think happened. In Chapel Hill it was called "gain of function" research. It was suspended in 2013, and then resurrected in 2018, though appears to have gone on in the interval anyway. After 2018 it fled to China, with all associated names being involved.

Getting rid of rentier capitalism? And then about anti-monopoly ACTION by the government? Direct investment by the government in production, not just infrastructure? WORKPLACE DEMOCRACY? Yanno, the system is so fundamentally corrupt, just paying obeisance to "taxes" or even killing off a few people isn't going to fix it. Quote:Originally posted by 1KIKI: Just to address today's research ... Research today is NOT mostly done by a person sitting in a patent office thinking about a traveler on a moving train. It's mostly done (funded) by governments, that fund research groups that are now mostly focused on patents and IP, with BIG BUSINESS circling like vultures hoping to make profits off the meat made by those groups; the other arms of governments fund weapons offense/ defense with secret research that for the most part nobody will know about for at least a decade. There is basically 1) government-funded research driven by economic warfare 2) government-funded research driven by military warfare. We're in a global research cold war. Just stopping isn't an option. Our zero-sum infected everyone, everywhere it touched: win or die. And we've gone so far for so long trying to touch everywhere exploitable around the globe. Now all those historic zero-sum losers are in the game to win, or aligning themselves with a side they think will win. That's why zero-sum, once started, is hard to stop. For example, if we stop, we'll be caught by surprise from behind by all those historic zero-sum losers we created. (I give Putin a lot of credit for finding for Russia a way out of the game as much as possible.) Anyway, it's plain we're - the voters in a 'democracy' - not driving this bus. That's going to be enough time for a weaponized vaccination program to exterminate the populace.
