Quote:Originally posted by 6IXSTRINGJACK: Bill Clinton's plan for Chinese world dominance is almost complete. All we need now is for Biden to make environmental regulations so strict here that nobody would think of investing in American businesses and then everything the entire world uses will be made by 12 year old Chinese kids that work 80 hour weeks and go outside and choke on the Steven King-esque wall of smog outside after they punch out. But keep on buying all that shit you don't need and pretending you give one single shit about the environment.

Quote:Originally posted by 6IXSTRINGJACK: Quote:Originally posted by second: The Chinese (on Taiwan and the Mainland) had a big Covid-19 problem and they fixed it. Yup. They fixed it by having a government run media that lied to their own citizens and the rest of the world every step of the way. Don't worry buddy. Democrats in America are working on making that the way we do business here. Once we have the Ministry of Truth installed and zero ability to say anything online that is against the narrative, we can fix non-fatal pandemic numbers once and for all and pretend that everybody is in agreement with what the media says since nobody will be able to voice their opinions otherwise.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Quote:Originally posted by second: For the next few months of the vaccines’ rollout, we face a classic economics problem: too much demand and not enough supply. But in a few months, we will have the opposite economic problem: too much supply and not enough demand. Back in December only 42 percent of Texans indicated they would sign up to get a vaccine. If a large plurality of Texans and Americans decline to get it, we may be unable to achieve the 80 percent herd immunity that public health experts say is necessary to stop the pandemic.

You take your shots. The rest of us will be fine. The highest number I can find is only 33%, not your bogus 70%. Why not go with 99% have recovered, if you're making up numbers? That would fit in very nicely with your other prediction: that the media would certainly stop reporting on covid-19 immediately after the election. https://nypost.com/2021/01/29/data-shows-one-third-of-americans-could-have-covid-19-immunity/ The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at www.mediafire.com/folder/1uwh75oa407q8/Firefly

Quote:Now, at some point we will run into the problem of people being unable or unwilling to get the vaccine. It will be a good idea to set up free clinics in impoverished or isolated locations, and it may be necessary to require people to be vaccinated before their children can go to school, or before they can return to work. But quite soon even young, healthy people will be able to get their shot, the fear of you or your loved ones facing a horrible death will ease up, and as cases keep falling, Americans will be able to carefully return to normal life.

Well, where SARS-CoV-2 came from is all a matter of "supposedly" to this very day. Nobody knows, or admits to knowing, and fingers are pointing everywhere. When it comes to animals, the question isn't 'can they get it' but 'can they infect people'. Most animals have lungs that are too small to cause any serious level of infection, for the same reason children don't seem to infect adults all that much (which, I admit, like a lot of things about the virus needs confirmation). So one would have to be very stupid with animals - lots of close contact - before one catches a virus. That said, when it comes to the original SARS and MERS, some people are very stupid with animals.
