River's Safe Costume

For Halloween and future cons I want to make myself the outfit River wears for Safe and I was hoping someone could help me out.

I doubt I'm going to be able to find the sweater so I bought a simple top pattern and will make the necessary adjustments however I can't find the fabric that she wears and I'm trying to look for it online but I don't know what it's called.

Anyone know a site I can find a simple plain white sundress with a full skirt (knee high) and a pink skirt that'll flare out when you spin.

Other thing, anybody know where I can find her combat boots?

Thanks. If anybody else is looking for this and I happen to come across anything I'll be sure to post what I come up with.

I had some like them (sadly, they got stolen) that came from an army surplus store.

As for the sweater? My suggestion is go to a resale shop and find a thin, large red sweater, and slice off the cuffs and stretch the neck out a bit. A skirt is very easy to make, just grab some pink fabric.

I have a pair of boots that are identical to the ones River wears in "Safe" and in most of the other episodes. Mine are made by a company called Ad Hoc, but I know of two other brands that also make ones nearly identical: Underground Shoes and New Berlin Shoes (I think all three are from the UK). I think you can still find these online, but they are kinda pricey for just a Halloween costume. You could probably make your own boot coverings if'n you didn't wanna spend a lot of money on boots; I could take a picture of mine for you if you're really interested.

I had to throw together my Safe costume at the last-minute, so it's not really exact, but I found a red sweater at a thrift store and the pink skirt at Urban Outfitters. I already had the boots, which are nothing like the combat boots River wears, but I didn't feel it was worth buying a new pair. :D

You could probably find them outside of the Underground Shoes website. The ones made by TUK are actually more like River's, but I don't think they make them without the front metal plate. "New Berlin" also makes them, but I couldn't find their website. Best o'luck.
