America loves a winner!

Saw Nathan, Jewel and Adam on Saturday, then Nathan and Jewel on Sunday, and finally Jewel on Sunday nite. WOW. These guys are flat out awesome. They are doing an excellent job pushing the movie. I want to go out and buy up 10 more DVD's and do what ever I can to promote Serenity.

I know from hearing stories that quite a few of us at DC had far more interactions w/ the BDH's and nothing but great stuff to say about them. Jewel popped in on one of the class room meetings on Sun nite - w/ hubby Matty in tow - and she was just so cool. She answered questions, gave some more background info on what it as like doing the movie, and how great it was for them to get back together ,etc...

Per the movie, there were a couple of spoilers dropped, but I won't divulge any here. Jewel said there were some very powerful moments that really made her ( and others ) cry...but above all, she said emphatically to TRUST Joss. He KNOWS what he's doing, and this movie will stand alone w/ out needing to reference the series. I think it was described as Joss's ' little epic'. Can't wait.

Again, thanks to all the Browncoats and our BDH's. This is something unique and I'm lovin it.

Couldn't agree with you more! I missed Friday night but saw them Sat. and Sun. AWESOME! Nathan is a complete riot and Jewel and Adam are funny and friendly. All three are just as much fans as they are stars. I loved what Nathan said when asked "who's the biggest Firefly fan" and he said the guy with two thumbs...then he points his thumbs at himself and says "this guy".
I was soooo glad I rushed in line to get my autographed pics on Sat., since Adam had to leave and wasn't there Sun. Nathan said he had to go to S. Africa, presumably for work. They even took the time to personalize their autographs!
The support at the con itself was amazing. People stood in line for hours between panels and autographs. This movie can't help but be a hit!
I also learned, at the browncoats.com table, that the entire cast is contracted for THREE movies. As long as the first one is a hit, we get THREE!

That was the best news EVER!

AND that was the best DragonCon ever!

I just want to second what everyone said. Our BDH had the best panels ever. Nathan is one of the funniest people around and plays off Jewel and Adam with expert timing. Of course it's especially fun when they wait for their chance and catch him with a zinger! They were amazingly available to the fans.

I had a great time at my first DragonCon and enjoyed meeting many Browncoats from here and other sites.

A fantastic con, I can't say enough how thrilled I am that I was in such close quarters with our beloved crew members. More praising and discussion to come on this after I sleep (I haven't since Sat night of the Con) but I wanted to post my pictures so everyone could go have a look. Enjoy. http://www.reannaremick.com/dragoncon/2004/

Blessed be, Adam had a 7 am flight to catch Sunday morning--off to South Africa to film a remake of "The Poseidon Adventure." Stand-up guy, that "Man They Call Jayne." Didn't leave the bar until 10 pm and that's all you'll be getting from me!!!

Dragon Con was my first convention ever. I went for the Firefly panels and met some class acts from this board who convinced me to check it out (Adam chief among them). Mad props to y'all for the dedication you offer to the show and garner from the cast!

MISTRESSOFUSELESSKNOWLEDGE

Here is my two cents - in case anyone missed it on the other DragonCon threads

My hubby and I went to Dragon Con for the day Saturday too. We got our day passes, and headed straight to the room for the Firefly panel. Since Harlan Ellison was in there the panel before our heroes, we sat on the front row for him too! He was really funny, when he realized so many people were coming in during his program. He is a hilarious curmudgeon - he told us that no Firefly fans could ask questions. He then alliterated on the name - Fabulously Fantastic Firefly fans, etc.

Then when our heroes showed up, two guys came up and sang the theme song in a kilt (accompanied by a guitar). Then our Heroes came in, waving and laughing. Jewel was surprised to see a Snapple waiting for her. Nathan loves to play the clown - he was goofing on everything people said. He said that when people ask him who the biggest Firefly fan he has ever met is, he takes his two thumbs and points to himself! He loves watching Firefly, talking about Firefly, being Captain Mal Reynolds (wink), everything about it. He said he loved the first script he saw because he got to shoot the bad guy in the face!

Jewel said she initially wanted the part of River, because it was so complex, but Joss said,"Um, ok, No - you are Kaylee." Adam said he thought he got the part because Joss could count on him to be a seasoned professional and do the part right. Adam said that when Joss did the casting, he was looking for good people who could be around a long time. They were all very sad when the show was cancelled, because they really enjoyed working together.

Then later Nathan made fun of the announcer in the trailer (which they didn't show, boo hoo) and how he mispronounced names. Then Adam quoted the "her name is Vera. She is my very favorite gun," dialog.

They were awesome, and the convention folks had to tell them to wrap it up.

Thanks to our Heroes!

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Hey everyone. The wife and I just got back into Richmond a couple of hours ago. We are unpacking and settling in now.

I just want to say how great it was to meet so many of my fellow Browncoats. I only wish that we had more time to spend together or more parties planned to mingle at to get to talk some more.

Nathan, Adam, and Jewel were truly great. I got autographs from each, pictures w/ each of them (which I will post in the Blue Sun Room by the weekend) and some very great momentos. My daughter got a 100 dollar Alliance bill from Nathan at Sundays panel. She is really proud of it. I have to email Nathan to see if I can get the picture he had Jewel take of him giving her the money.

I will post up more tomorrow. Got to check emails and settle in now.

THERON

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this board although I have been lurking around for quite a while. This DragonCon was my 14th, and let me tell you, the BDH's made it one of the best I have been to. Friendly, approachable, and not afraid to get in and talk to people. Very few of the guests are like that any more. But the Heroes make up for all of them. I saw the panel with Nathan, Jewel and Adam on Sat. afternoon and was a part of Jewel's greeting to Nathan. If you were there you know what I mean. :) A very good time was had by all at that one, the three play off each other like very old friends and always had time for us the fans.
Later that night I was at the showing of the Lost Episodes when Adam walked in. His presence, sitting out in the audience with us while we watched, made the whole show that much better. And what happaned afterward we watched Trash was, well very, very, very nice. :)
Sunday I got to see Nathan and Jewel talk again, and they did something I have never seen any other guest do. Anyone who answered a question was asked to come up and recieved a prop of the set of Serenity, including a com, several Alliance 100 dollar bills and photographs from the set by the Heroes themselves. Later it was announced by the director of the American TV track that Adam had had to leave from the airport for South Africa at 10 that morning, which means he got to bed much later than midnight. And that the production company had wanted him on a plane heading there much earlier in the week but that he had refused so he could attend DragonCon. Can you think of anything cooler for one of them to have done? :)

Two things more, the guys in the kilts were members of a band called Emereld Rose, They are a con staple and have been there for years. They are also very good at what they do. If you have a chance to see them live I would recommend them. And it was very nice meeting Browncoat1 and Pearl at the Con, these were the only two browncoats that I met this year but I hope to meet many more of them next time. :)

Browncoat1, I was in the 4th or 5th row Sunday, and have a couple of pictures of your daughter on stage. Unfortunately the camera didn't focus quickly enough to get Nathan handing it to her, butshe is holding it in front of her just after receiving it.
Nathan, Jewel, and Adam were fantastic! They had to be exhausted by the end of the weekend, but they were still just as kind and sweet on Sunday as they were on Friday. I didn't realize Nathan was such a comedian and could work a crowd like the best of 'em.
New to the board, what's a BDH.

Shiny! Thanks. I was trying to come up with something involving Browncoats and heroes, like Browncoats Defend Heroes. :)
After arriving 15 minutes before the Friday panel to discover they were already at capacity (I managed to eventually get a seat), and missing the Saturday panel because my Treebeard costume was killing me, I was 45 minutes early for the Sunday panel. I'll try to post some pictures later this evening.

I posted a bit about my experience over on the official boards, but the short version is I had an amazing time. I got to meet three incredibly talented and gracious actors who put up with the noisy, hot Dealer's Room in order to meet the fans. I hope the amazing response they received at the con showed them that the fan base is growing larger and more enthusiastic.

I'll post pictures online and share more stories in the coming days. Thanks guys!

Did anyone at Dragoncon go see any of the short films? I found out that the film I edited and did the effects work 'timed Call' that screened won best Horror (strange because it was Sci-Fi).

I'm a happy browncoat, I've been bragging all day to anyone that listened that my film won at a festival that the BDH's were at.

Welcome to the board Theron & Pheon. Glad to have you w/ us. I am glad that you were both able to attend the Con.

I had such a great time at the Con & came away feeling elated and fired up over the movie. I am a man on a mission, and that mission is promoting the BDM!
