It really is Kelkhil. I get lots of teachers who want to know my "secret" and they really hate me when I tell them. It's simple. Love them to death, be on their side absolutely, and kick their little butts whenever they cross the line. Works almost every time. 'Course it's also a source of amazement to all and sundry that I treat these giant, violent, gang bangers like overgrown two year olds( call them punkin, sweety, etc. fuzzle their hair, hug them when they need it, clap for them when they get something right, etc.) ...and they let me. They might roll their eyes or do a pro forma protest, but they love it.They such cute little bugs and I say this too much, but they mean well...really they do. Jayne reminds me a LOT of my students. He says and does some dumb stuff, but it's because no one ever showed him how to get what he needed without the inappropriate actions.

Thanks for the hugs NV...and then I smack her. OK I'll wait and won't smack unless she hurts you...then she's losing some teeth!!!

Am I the only one to notice there a certain irony here?

All seriousness aside, MsG, I have the utmost respect for you and what you've done with these kids. I sense that you also have a personal empathy going on here, just from what I've gleaned from your various posts. You're amazing. And I'm sorry that this even had to become an issue for you. I'm guessing but I'm betting that part of the "Principal Problem" was fueled in part by all the bad press lady teachers and their young boys have been getting lately. You have to be on guard about things that wouldn't otherwise cross your mind. Terribly unfair. (Just like there are good priests out there.)

On a slightly lighter but nonetheless related note, I strongly suspect you can get away with calling them sweetie pie, etc. and mussing up their hair precisely because youse a lady. I for one would doubtlessly "get popped" if I said/did something like that, if not by the students, by the Principal. Never, ever (ask MrG, or even MrT), never underestimate the power of the eyelash, the smile or the neckline over mortal man. As Mal put it:

"You're pleasing. You're...hell, you're all kinds of pleasing...so don't think for a second that we ain't interested..."

Kind souls that most of the womenfolk on this site are, they gets perplexed by the menfolk in their RW. They's as simple as Jayne. Thankfully most of them aren't criminal about it, just oafs.

Don't stop with the eyelashes. Don't stop smiling (but there ain't a power in the 'Verse that can stop MsG from smilin') and for heaven's sake, or at least MrG's, don't throw out the sweater. Slink around the house all sexy for him...

"Well, here I am."

You really are the most amazing teacher, msg. Seriously, I wish I could spend a day in your class, just so I could watch and learn.

Oh I'd bet you are just as good:)DTH There are lots of good teachers out there. Ah look the bell, sadly prep is over and here come the little darlings now. I've got $20 says my little ray of sunshine Julie walks through that door and immediatly begins complaining to me about her day...Mostly her parents aren't around so she needs someone to complain to daily.
Jonny- um hey it's not irony...see it'd be irony if I wasn't planning on popping the kid who said that...just kidding. yes I know I'm a bad example. I don't hit people much though...well not very hard anyway

Jonny- aww you're so sweet. Actually my principal wasn't upset. He just laughed and said don't wear that sweater again. I was probably more embarrassed because the principal looks and sounds so much like my beloved daddy that I get all blushy and such.

Yes I smile and am happy all the time. Drives MrG to distraction on occasions. I like to go with Meredith Brooks quote " who says that dark is deep"
I know I get away with the punkin and baby stuff 'cause I'm a girl and I have the mommy thing going on. I do love em though. Never forget the looks on the cops faces as they're dealing with one of mine and he's being a total hardass and they're getting nothing and I walk in and say "oh baby what happened" and suddenly mister I am a gangsta's blubbering and appologizing. He felt really badly he'd messed up and all. Thought the cops jaws could have broken for how fast they dropped.
