I was watching Serenity, as you do, and we get to the part that Mal says "I mean to live" and the shot cuts to the alliance ship and MY FREAKIN DVD starts to skip and lose picture!!! And now it won't PLAY!

I know how you feel. One of my BDS DVD's started to freeze in a spot. Hopefully there was just a bit of dirt or a small scratch in that spot and not a bigger problem. They just don't make DVD's like they used to. God must be Alliance.:wink:

ITS OK! Its ok people. World ending disaster has been avoided. Luckily for some little ones and not so little ones running around this here house, there were no scratches to be found. A few wipes with an appropriate cloth, a lot of blowing in the player itself, and peace and non-prosperity once again reigns in FMF land.

Whew. That was a close one. They almost had to get a negotiator come talk me off the ledge - so to speak.

There's a type of cd that has mini-brushes on it that you can put in and run for a few minutes and it cleans the player. I use it on my pc because my pc is always so dusty, i bet it would work for dvd players too.

Phew! Thank god it's working again, however if it does stop at any time, don't think of it as a disaster, look at the positives! 1) You get to buy it again which, though a tiny contribution, puts the sequel that one step closer to being greenlit. 2) You get the excitement of waiting for the new discs to arrive, and then the fun of opening it all over again. 3) You're boosting the economy. 4) If you buy it in person, you can try and get the store clerk to buy himself a copy. 5) New disk smell.

Okay, I ran out of ideas toward the end there (about number 2) :biggrin:

Just wanted to let you know that I am preparing for future such emergencies.

I am going to buy that thingy that fixes scratched CD's (its like 24 bucks and is my present to me), I am going to look for the Brushy CD thingy (Thanks didn't know about those) and I have told the children that I really really need back up copies for Christmas.

I feel much better now that there is a plan. :evil:
