I'm excited to meet some fellow browncoats. And to see the BDM. I'm just all around excited.

I, my husband, and at least 1 friend will be there

- still waiting to see if my last ticket gets claim by anyone else I've offered it too, told everyone to make claims by Monday night then I'll offer it up here- so if anyone is looking for a Charlotte ticket, keep an eye here - I'll post Tuesday sometime if I have an available one for sure or not.

We'll be coming in from Greensboro and I work til 6:30 so it will be around 9:30 before we get to the theatre and all with stopping to eat. Tho we may just trudge on and eat there at the shoping centre - nice place! We dropped by yesterday to pick up our tickets cause hubby had NAtional Guard business over in the armory

and I'm babbling - I'll go away now for a bit - cya there!

I live in Charlotte, so I'm going to go by to meet everyone before the film. Unfortunately, at this point "no ticket". Still want to met you all though.
If the ticket is still available on Tues. I'd be happy to treat you to dinner if you come in first to eat there, (in addition to paying for the ticket , of course.) If it's not, maybe someone else will show up with a spare?

Jadehand-YES, come, even if you don't have a ticket. But maybe you can get Fletchette's extra one, wouldn't that be shiny. And I've heard tell of people who didn't have tickets and showed up anyway and were let in..so who knows.

I also know that ManwithPez and his wife are coming, as are Sunderwood and Canton. So, we're starting to get a good little group together, aren't we?

happy happy, joy joy.

Hey! I'll be there with 2 others. We're coming down from the mountains, so we'll be getting in between 8-9, but I'm excited to meet everyone.

I've just started a thread on the 'Versal board about Shindigery and perhaps joining in on the Joss birthday banner bash. I'll cross post ideas and such here. I'm trying to get a local to help me out, there's only so much I can do from 4 hours away So I would love any thoughts and ideas!

And I'm not sure yet, but I may have an extra ticket, too. I'll let ya'll know if I do.

TheGreyJedi and I will not be at the Charlotte screening. . .we both feel that if we saw the movie in advance, it might take away from the massive shindig experience we're planning for the 30th. . .

HOWEVER. . .

Our home is but an hour. . .hour and a half away from Charlotte. Maybe some shindiggery can take place?

CMS,
Yeah I'll come by and even be there early in case a ticket becomes available. I assume if people don't show up the seats can be re-sold. I'm happy just to meet people. If I can score a ticket "I'm in." either way I still meet people who may attend Dragon*Con and/or the NCBDMPP. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Oh yeah, shindiggery. "I'm in"

I'd love to come to Charlotte and be amongst the thronging fans, but I just can't see driving all that way(from Raleigh) by myself as a particularly smart thing to do without a ticket in hand. I tried like heck to buy them when they went on sale, how frustrating was that? Of course, the fact that a NCBDMP is shaping up is exciting, too, but it's so hard to wait. I'd also like to hear from area peeps going to Dragoncon- have you bought your tickets yet? I haven't been to a con in years and they seem so complicated now. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I believe plans are well underway for the Browncoat table at Dragon*Con. There was one last year. It was shiny. I have my hotel room, but haven't done the show ticket yet. soon. Doing the drive from here again. I hate long drives with no "company". My friends kinda backed out this year. So solo trip, which on the upside means no running a round the con trying to meet with them, more time to meet and hang with Browncoats.

Heya!

You've got yourself a ticket Jadehand, if you still need one. No worries on buying me dinner we still don't have a firm plan on that part yet.

We'll work out how to meet up in a little bit. If there's a shinding of any sort we can try to catch up there perhaps

I saw a Wendy's and a Qdoba's there at the shopping centre - very nice one - those are the most likely stop and eat spots for us - if they open at 9pm...

As to how to recognise me, I'll likely be wearing a Marillion "Marbles" shirt, the image can be seen on the frontpage of the site below.

We are going to go with a variation of DarkMorning's Banner #4 (it's about halfway down the page.)

Hi gang - My wife and I are going to the Charlotte screening as well - we live in Charlotte. I haven't posted yet because I can rarely get on this site at work (my usual internet time). Our firewall blocks the site if I try to go to the main page ("Access Denied; GAMES" - whatever) but apparently I can jump onto any internal part of the site by using a direct link - I found a direct link to this thread on the Browncoats site.

All very fascinating, yes, didn't mean to go on about that. Just saying hey, and I look forward to seeing you all at the screening and at DragonCon.

Peace,

Welcome Harlan,
You know it's sad that you live in a different state and know more about that theatre than I do, living in Charlotte. Total opposite side of town, never been there. So many other theatres were closer, though none were ever really close.

CMS,
Yeah, I'm soooo pleased to have a chance to see it, mostly to see if I can spot differences when it's released Sept 30th. To see it BEFORE Dragon*Con, where I expect to be traipsing about in a Browncoat, So when I get the questions from the unknowing I can tell people how good it IS, instead of how good I expect it to be.
BIG thanks again to Flechette.

blech. What a perfectly good waste of cheese.

BUT, back to the (original) subject:

When/where will we be meeting? And will there be the consumption of food before-hand?

If anyone's been following the UB, there's going to be a birthday banner for Joss that we can all sign and at 9:30pm, everyone's supposed to join in singing happy birthday to him (everyone from all 35 screenings are supposed to be doing this all together. It's a big thing). SO, we'll need to be fed, watered, assembled, etc. before then.

Also, if you're all very lucky, there may be brownies. Special Serenity brownies. And before anybody asks, NO, they're aren't that kind of special.

W.Wren,
That's what I'm going to be doing too. I also will be hungry.

Does someone who lives in the area know what restaurants are available that would be good for meeting/handling large crowd of frenzied fans/serves food that nearly everyone would like/doesn't cost a fortune.

Someone mentioned the burrito place earlier Qdoras? That would work for me if it works for everyone else and meets the criteria.

I haven't checked the UB recently. Is there a plan over there in place already for meeting up or eating or whatnot?

Suddenly very hungry for lunch.

I plan on doing some recon down there - I've never been. Harlan, I think, is the one who mentioned Qdoras - which also sounds dandy to me.

The charlotte folks are pretty quiet on the UB just now, at least it seems - no one seemed to get excited about today's Observer blurb.

"Eddy" over at the UB site suggested we email Lawrence Toppman at the Charlotte Observer to see if he would print something about the Screening - he did today - it was short but pretty good...

Well, according to Harlan, the Qdoras is in the same shopping centre as the theatre, so it could indeed make an ideal meeting place. I'm sure we'll all be able to spot each other easily enough (the crazed fan face is a dead give away. The browncoat is another). And people can grab food as they come, I guess. What does everyone else think about this?
My biggest problem is going to be finding ManWithPez, since he's the one that has my ticket.

Edit: Flechette beat me to the post. Does anyone else know if there is another restaurant in the same shopping center that's open later than 9pm?

Can anyone confirmthat there is a Wendy's in the shopping centre and it's one that has the dining room open til 10pm?

I tried but I can't find a website for this centre- anyone closer by that might know of it?

----

if I can get out of work 10 minutes early and we speed a little on the highway me may be able to get there around 8:15- 8:30 which is still enough time for a burrito

Last weekend it took us 1hr 15 min on I85 to reach Concord Mills, then we took the next exit (48?) onto I485 and it was about 25 min to the theatre.

Anyone know if there is a shorter/faster route than that?
