Uh huh.

If you thought the Lotto was bad for the poor, those phone app sportsball things are cancer. And not just for the poor this time, but probably all classes up to high middle-class.

At least make people have to get in their car and drive to a casino, or at the very least make a phone call to a bookie.

I've witnessed how somebody can lose as much money as I need to live for two weeks in just a few taps on the touchscreen.

I was worried at the frequency I'd hear those ads on the radio in the summer once it was legalized in Illinois. There's going to be hell to pay for that one.

Las Vegas, 1930s Shanghai, Caracas Venezula, the island of Cuba, the Weimar Republic, the story of Babylon or Sodom and Gomorrah

Half of that article was about the legalization of weed, which I know you're not on board with at all.

So I don't understand your reply here.

I think you misunderstand me, I am for personal freedoms but I do not see why sin or vice culture should be promoted. People who say LSD, alcohol and booze and weed will free the world are pushing deception or making excuses, it will not be good for everyone and any addiction is not a good thing. I have been in places where drugs are less tolerated and they are not oppressive Sharia Law Puritan States and Nations. If anything the Boomer era and Liberalism probably made it all swing too far in the other direction, it wasn't always zealotry that warned people of sins and vices, wise monks and spirtual people looked at other places and recorded and noted immoral acts that were destroying other past nations.

I think the gambling on the cell phones is particularly sinister.

Most Americans already have no idea how to budget or keep track of their finances and have poor impulse control.

In theory, there is a way you can set up your account to only allow you to spend X amount of dollars per day/week/month in the app. https://help.draftkings.com/hc/en-us/articles/4406237505939-DraftKings

But I don't know how easy it is for a person to do, and I would assume they don't go out of their way to promote this feature.

I'm not very surprised, but kind of appalled that they don't have an auto limit that you need to change yourself. If you went to an ATM machine you're only going to be able to pull out $300 to $500 per day. The fact that you could theoretically gamble away your children's future in a single day without any caps on it is really, really sad.

And it's Vox of all places that are in agreement with me.
