It's a good thing for responsible people. Not so good for people who aren't responsible.

It's a shame that we never seem to learn from them though. Sure... The people on top love orchestrating them because they get richer every time, but unless so many of the rest of us weren't so stupid to feed into it every single time it wouldn't work. I was one of them before the DotCom bubble burst myself. I learned from that lesson, spent the better half of the next decade being a wise shepherd of my money and put myself into a position to capitalize on it when the housing market burst a decade later. And all of these years later I still use those disciplines to live on next to nothing without feeling like I'm living a life on next to nothing.

Learn the lesson this time people.

Even if Biden* and Company are going to gaslight you and change the definition of a recession, we are in one right now.

It's time to reevaluate how you spend your money.

I've spent $4,200 so far this year and we're almost 7 months into it. $1,700 of that was on home improvement that I most likely will never have to spend again while I'm living in this house, making my cost of living expenses for the entire year including my full year's worth of property taxes and car insurance only $2,500. (Yes. That is less than $85 a week, which is down from $125 per week I was spending not so long ago, despite the recession and high prices of everything).

How much dumb shit that you didn't need did you buy so far this year? How much of that is on credit? Even worse... How much of that is still on credit and was already consumed?

And speaking of credit, get out while you can. Those rates are probably going to end up being higher than most of you remember them ever being. At least I hope they are. I'm tired of seeing my money lose value all the time because nobody else is responsible with theirs.

For the people who are at poverty level and are TRULY struggling even with government programs, you have my absolute empathy.

But if I have to read one more goddamned article about a two income household with at least one of the two pulling in 6 figures and how hard their life is now I'm going to rip my pubic hairs out.

You get no pity from me. Learn the lesson this time.

HAHAHA!
OUCH!
HAHA!

And, indeed.

But ... what do you eat that's so cheap? Just asking. For a friend.

Now that pasta, bread and cheap pizzas on sale have been out of the picture since I more or less went gluten free, rice, rice rice.

Up until about 3 months ago at least, I've always been able to get it in bulk for around the same cheap price I was able to get it for 4 years ago, but I usually have to change the brand and seller. Years ago I always bought the 6 gallon buckets from Auguson Farms, but they discontinued those and now they sell pails about half the size for almost the same amount of money. (I wish I'd saved some of those for food storage instead of throwing the lids out and using them for yard work and toting tools around. They had awesome self-sealing lids and are great for storing bagged rice from other companies. All I have for that now is the last half-sized bucket I bought before they jacked the price for it up 40% a few years ago).

A bag of 12oz California medley vegetables has gone up about 10 cents since this all started happening, so that hasn't been too bad. I eat 6 to 7 of those every week. I also eat about a half pound of hamburger meat along with it, which I also buy in bulk especially when I find it on sale. If they ever have a really good sale on chicken breasts I have substitutes in there to change it up. I have several different seasonings too to change it up (and to avoid getting hives again from using the same one everyday like I did before).

I rotate the stock and always have a full freezer, buying a little here and there when I need to fill it back up.

Other than that, it's mostly Cheerios, natural peanut butter, milk and occasionally chili/cheese/tortilla chips if I'm in the mood and feel I've earned it. I haven't done eggs in a while. I can't live without milk, so I pay the higher prices for that, but I'm not paying those prices for eggs too until they come back down.

I don't expect most people to be able to do that. But if they're suffering now and also eating out 2 or 3 times a day they can really do a lot to cut back on food expenses.

Last time I went to my grandmas they bought pizza. I freaked when I heard it was $42. Don't get me wrong, it's great pizza, but that's insane. I can eat my fill for two weeks for $42.

Food would still be one of my most expensive things falling somewhere in between yearly property taxes and gas/electric bills. It's my 2nd highest expense. But couple that low amount compared with what most other people pay with zero expenses for cell phone service or Cable TV/Streaming and a $20 per month cable internet bill and life is pretty cheap. At least until November... I hear that natural gas prices are going to be even worse this winter than last winter, so possibility of a $300/mo energy bill incoming???

And gasoline prices for my car haven't been a huge factor. I don't do much driving. Unfortunately I've done a little more in the late spring and summer than I was doing in the winter at the worst possible time, but the pain is lessened when you're only filling it up once a month or less. Between late November of last year and mid-February of this year though, I'd only put $30 in the tank. The most expensive gas binge I had this year was the two freakin' tanks I had to burn to get my car to pass emissions. I spent more on gas just doing that than I did for gas I actually needed to get me from A to B for the rest of the year so far... By a lot. At least I did try to make the most of it and go help my Grandma, my Dad and one of my friends with a few issues they had while I was already aimlessly driving around.

Oh... I also haven't had a haircut since April of 2020 when they forced you to wear a mask. My hair is down to my shoulder blades, but that's $20 every month I haven't paid for 2.5 years now too.

Oooooooh boy.

Legacy Media in full spin mode trying and failing to deny that we're in a recession right now.

Don't worry boys and girls. We already have lengthy collections of clips of you Media clowns telling everyone that the definition of a recession is two negative quarters of GDP whenever somebody you don't like is running things.

And we're having a lot of fun showing them to all the normies right now.

M$M calling a "recession" during Bush41 just in time for Election '92 was always a joke.

And now, there is no RECESSION even though it is only for Mid-Term Elections, not even Presidential Election.

But some folk believe everything they say.

You like how they're going to jam another massive spending bill through Congress if Sinema gives in just in time to make sure that pain is felt in February of next year?

Because spending another $1.5 Billion for bullshit is just what we need in this economy.

Tax breaks for rich people buying Coal Powered cars, paid for by the poor people.

Democrats are cancer.

No chili with beans at ALDI again today. In fact, the whole store was looking a little sparse. Maybe people are panic buying again?

That's alright though. I have probably a dozen of them on hand since this tends to happen in post Biden* world.

I don't even know what the price for them are now since they didn't even have the sign up in the empty spot. But the Chili Without Beans was $1.39! I've never seen it that much there before. There's usually a ten cents difference between the two, so I'm guessing they raised the price from $1.19 to $1.29 now. Yay.

That's cool. I just saw the REAL grocery store ad and in their Mix-n-Match 10 for $10 deal this week they have actual brand name Chili with or without beans for a buck each.

I think I'll just go and buy 50 of them tomorrow.

Gotta put something on those new pantry drawers I built, right?
