An employee at the Environmental Protection Agency allegedly downloaded over 7,000 files of pornography on a government computer and watched them two to six hours per day, the agency's investigative unit revealed Wednesday.

"When an OIG special agent arrived at this employee’s work space to conduct an interview, the special agent witnessed the employee actively viewing pornography on his government-issued computer," Allan Williams, deputy assistant inspector general for investigations at the EPA, told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

"Subsequently, the employee confessed to spending, on average, between two and six hours per day viewing pornography while at work," he added.

The improper conduct emerged as a result of a broader investigation into the agency following the 2013 conviction of senior EPA official John Beale, who falsely claimed to have been working for the CIA and defrauded the agency out of almost $900,000 in pay and benefits.

The employee's identity has not yet been released pending an ongoing Justice Department investigation, but he is still on the government's payroll earning about $120,000 per year.

It surely was hard for him, but there's not a shred of evidence that he ever abused his hand-held device.

And when initially confronted by his supervisor, he quoted a line from Voltaire's Candide ... "O che sciagura d'essere senza coglioni!."

Frankly, I don't see how this case is all that much different than what a great deal of Federal officials do w/ our money.

Yeah ... Good thing we had House Republicans guarding our tax dollars against waste and fraud since 2011 ... oh wait!

The real issue at hand is how to fire incompetent sacks of go-se like this individual and purge them from the pool of federal workers. IRS employees, delinquent on their own taxes, even those who were reprimanded , still got full pay AND bonuses.

This is more of a Imperial Federal Govt bureaucracy issue, and not so much a Dem / GOP matter. BOTH parties are full of blame for this crap.

I suppose it was incredibly naive of me to believe that after the 2010 midterms the new House majority of Republicans and Tea Party would take their mandate seriously. The election was, after all, mostly about fiscal responsibility and putting the brakes on reckless waste and spending in Washington. Didn't take long for them to forget that and get back to business as usual.

Wonder if his desk can be sanitized. Or maybe Lewinsky has a use for it, resting her blue dress.

Jongs - the only ones who didn't take it seriously were the GOP old guard. Sure, they'll take getting the House back, due in large part to the votes and enthusiasm generated by the TEA party candidate and voters, but as soon as sun rose the next day, they were gone, w/ out so much as a " I'll call you " note

The Tea Party took it seriously, and for the most part still does. The Republicans couldn't seem to care less, and maybe never did.
