I started a separate thread for this reply because what was only going to be a short reply turned into a "thing", like it usually does with me. Read it, or don't. Reply, or don't.... :)

I didn't want to derail any conversations that were currently being had after 100+ replies or whatever. And I just wanted to mention that it's awesome that fff.net seems to be working fine again and that I can make my own stupid threads again.

Anyways, the original thread was "Missing Malaysian Airline flight." by AURaptor.

Seriously Rap. This might be the funniest single sentence ever written in the RWED or any other blog I've ever been on.

About the story itself though, as bizarre as it is, the most surreal thing to me about this story is that I wouldn't have even known what the title of this thread was referring to if it wasn't for people talking about it on break at work. For better or for worse, I have successfully removed media influence of my life to the point that the little news I get is from fellow smokers, conversations with my Grams on the phone, or whatever RWED thread I decide to read a little about after I've had a few in me.

Then I think back and realize that 95% of any threads I've started in the last year here had absolutely nothing to do with news of any sort and was nothing more than my own trivial meandering of the day.

When I was a kid I remember saying foolish things like "I hate politics" or "I'll never get into politics" as I slaved away playing the newest Nintendo game. As I got older and realized that a major part of being an adult is how politics today mesh with your own sensibilities and how they can have drastic effects in how you live your life. I often felt a longing for those days of innocent stupidity.

Well, maybe "ignorance is bliss" is the idea of Nirvana for me?

I work a part time retail job, and have done so for two years now, after having been unemployed nearly two years before that. Outside of my shelter and car, I have nothing, but at the end of the day I really want for nothing either. I get to spend 1/3 of my time awake in one or another altered state of consciousness if I so choose, and I often do. I live as unaffected by politics and news as I did when I was 13. I could have the world by the balls today if I was able to stay interested in anything long enough to care about it.... well, maybe tomorrow.... I'm going to sleep now..... ;)

If the desire to "live in my Mom's basement" without a care in the world for the rest of my life was what I wanted, I got that and and a bag of fries. It's like I'm in my own "basement sans-mom" no matter what floor I choose to sleep in tonight.

I must be the least burdened 34 year old in the world that wasn't a trust-fund baby. I'm in not a single person's pocket and a lot of people I know owe me favors. I rarely call any of them in, but I ask nobody for anything these days and if any of my skills can help somebody get minor jobs done I'm happy to use the skills I have to help out with nothing but a good home-cooked meal or a few delicious IPA's that I would never splurge on myself as payment.

At the end of any given day of the week, I have absolutely no right to bitch about anything. Any time I bitch about anything I feel guilty because I realize how hard some people in my own family have it for many different reasons and then I just think I'm an asshole. I'd be afraid to re-watch Angela's Ashes 14 years later because it would probably bring to mind every single time I bitched about anything in the last 5,110 days and I'd hate myself.

Just talking about it, I'm really just coming to appreciate how awesome my completely boring and pointless existence is. If I were a "balanced" person, I'd be the most stress-free motha you've ever seen, but then again if I were "balanced" I wouldn't be in this position in the first place.

Missing Malaysian Airline flight?

Surely you're making this up Rap. Malaysia sounds like some place out of The Hobbit. What a wild imagination you've got there. ;)

Anyways, had to quote you on this Rap since it seriously was the funniest thing I remember reading here. I'm not one to put quotes of other people on a forum in my signature, but there's a possibility that you may have changed my mind, at least for a while. :)

Umm... thanks ? I think ? And your welcome. Or something.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

I'm just a red pill guy in a room full of blue pill addicts.
