Democrat Dianne Feinstein, in an extraordinary speech on the Senate floor, publicly aired an intense but formerly quiet dispute between Congress and the spy agency. She said the matter has been referred to the Justice Department for further investigation.

Feinstein's accusation is the latest storm to hit the U.S. intelligence community, which has been reeling from former NSA systems analyst Edward Snowden's revelations about its mass surveillance programs.

While the monitoring outlined by Feinstein appears far more limited than in the NSA scandal, the backlash could be significant because it involved the panel that oversees the CIA's programs and funding. The criticism by Feinstein is particularly biting because she has been one of the main defenders of intelligence agencies at a time that they have been sharply criticized at home and abroad.

So, a Dem Senator makes an accusation , and the Justice Dept gets in on the act to see what the CIA is doing ?

Whisky Tango Foxtrot ???

Follow up...

The committee complains to the CIA, which first denies that anything was taken from the system and later contends that removal of the documents was ordered by the White House . Officials at the White House deny in such order. Feinstein complains to the White House and gets an apology from the CIA and assurances that it won’t happen again.

So, CIA denies, then admits, but claims it was the Obama WH who told them to do it, but the WH is now denying.

Obama ordered the Justice Dept. to wiretap AP & Fox reporters' phones.

Obama ordered the IRS to target and harass his political enemies.

Obama ordered the State Dept. to lie and cover up the Benghazi fiasco before the 2012 election.

Obama ordered HHS to lie about Obamacare to get it passed.

So Obama ordered the CIA to spy on Congress, and NOW Feinstein has a hissy fit? Fuck her.

Watch how the MSM, as well as the ObamaBots on this site, utterly ignore this over reach of Presidential power, and instead spends time making fun of Sarah Palin ( who completely schooled Barry on Russia ) and Michelle Bachmann.

Like a bunch of little girls, mocking anyone and everyone not in their cool clique.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

Whaddaya mean 'like'? They are a bunch of little girls. That's one reason they go nuts when the Tea Party is mentioned anywhere. The little girls here are all unhappy loners, social misfits who don't have any friends to play with.

Are you suggesting that the Obama White House is trying to cover up crimes committed by the Bush White House?

That might be the first time you've ever intimated that there were crimes committed by the Bush White House.

Sorry, what was the Senate investigating, exactly? Were they in the process of investigating the Obama administration's torture agenda?

If they were investigating the Bush admin's actions and participation in torturing prisoners, then "but Bush..." really kind of applies, doesn't it? I mean, if you were investigating Hitler's role in the Holocaust, would you expect someone to say "And all you have is 'but Nazis...' "?

This whole thing kind of hinges on an investigation of Bush-era torture practices. I'm sorry that you are unable to comprehend that.

This has zero to do w/ Bush.

There were no Bush-era torture practices.

The CIA's actions were, according to the story, the result of THIS WHITE HOUSE'S direction.

It has zero to do w/ Bush.

Good grief.
