Yep, the moment I been waiting for has arrived, and it looks like a blowout.

Seems the cat is finally out of the bag good and proper in regard to Main Cores super dragnet, originally hacked together from pirated copies of PROMIS via the 902nd MI back in the late eighties and having been in use ever since, with regular uprades and refinements.

I did tell you so - although it took longer than expected to out this.

Quote:

Analysts who use the system from a Web portal at Fort Meade key in “selectors,” or search terms, that are designed to produce at least 51 percent confidence in a target’s “foreignness.” That is not a very stringent test. Training materials obtained by the Post instruct new analysts to submit accidentally collected U.S. content for a quarterly report, “but it’s nothing to worry about.”

These assholes used to have legacy access to it too, till a fire destroyed the building those machines were in back in October 2006.
http://www.inscom.army.mil/msc/902MIG.aspx

And they *did* use it, mostly against anti-war protestors, how on earth you think the so-called authorities got all that data, or where it came from ?

Of course, the physical site of the main unit has changed, as it's no longer located in that building near BWI airport (that now contains backups) nor is the relay in Woodlawn any more, but a clever person could easily figure out the where from power and bandwidth charting, just sayin.

Also, one would question that 2007 figure since shortly after studying the Soviet SORM-II system run by the FSB and liking it a lot back in 1997, the FBI quickly rolled out their own, named Carnivore, later Omnivore, and put it into service immediately despite three different Congressional directives specifically forbidding them to fund, build, or use it, ever - an action which was improperly and retroactively legalized via the Patriot Act.

Beyond that, the core architechure for this has been in place, and in use since 1988.

So maybe the NEXT time y'all wanna dismiss out of hand us so-called-paranoid-crazies while lapping it up from known liars, perhaps, just perhaps, you might wanna think over the *track record* of the respective parties in regards to accuracy and honesty, instead of kneejerk reflexive denials that enable and pave the way for such abuses.

I'm actually gonna add a playlist to this, cause... well, why not ?
Past a certain point you just have to have a sense of humor, or you'll go mad.
Well, in my case madder, although some think I'm round the bend already!

Very strangely prophetic.
Electric Eye

And this one, as I see the media managers and spin doctors are out in force already, sorry kiddos, no amount of forcible distraction, celebrity bullshit or celebration of ignorance and malice is gonna save you THIS time, and I don't think your "patient" is gonna make it.
(this works on a meta level too, the "feel" of the thing works for both sides!)

Condition Critical

And soooo....

You, yeah, you - wanna talk to you here, give you a little background on this whole mess, dontcha know, got a rabbit hole to show ya, sure, you've got the guts, right ?
Here now, lets not be too public, slip right round the corner with me, where we can talk a little quieter... here in the dark.

Since the late 1980s, Inslaw has been involved in a legal dispute over its claim that Justice Department officials in the Reagan administration appropriated the PROMIS software. Hamilton claims that Reagan officials gave PROMIS to the NSA and the CIA, which then adapted the software -- and its outstanding ability to search other databases -- to manage intelligence operations and track financial transactions. Over the years, Hamilton has employed prominent lawyers to pursue the case, including Elliot Richardson, the former attorney general and secretary of defense who died in 1999, and C. Boyden Gray, the former White House counsel to President George H.W. Bush. The dispute has never been settled. But based on the long-running case, Hamilton says he believes U.S. intelligence uses PROMIS as the primary software for searching the Main Core database.

On THAT note, in this one, ain't nobody innocent, no-effin-body, not even me.
I've my own cross to bear in regard to this, one of the many ghosts haunting me in the wee hours of the night, and if my penance is to cry warning all but unheeded, so shall it be.
But never let it be said I failed in my responsibility to do so.

Of course, between the Verizon thing and this fiasco, one might think that was all of it, as if that were enough, but it ain't...
See, there's this file - a very certain and specific file, and if some people don't come clean about it, the whole rest of this makes maybe a little less sense than it really ought to.
But the folks who could expose it, well, they might as well take that little yellow pill right after doing so, cause at least that'd be quick, compared to anything else.

NO ONE, is innocent here - NO ONE.

This could be one interesting summer.

DALEK!

Nope, a new season of Dancing with the Stars will start and people will forget.

I do find it funny that people ever expected that the information put on the internet or email would be private.

I do not fear God, I fear the ignorance of man.
