You know, this may not mean much in this world of the constant bombardment of scandal and ruin, but I came across an interesting bit of news.

It has been reported in The Nation that many Republicans, who once bashed and trashed Obamacare, have requested funds from said health care program for their constituents. Yes, you read that right. Republicans that have called for the repeal of Obamacare have submitted letters to obtain funds from the ACA.

Wait, isn't that just the opposite of what they campaigned for. What's that called when you say one thing, but do another.......what's that called again!? How can something so vile and destructive be so good at the same time?

I'm confused.

It states that even the vice presidential candidate in 2012, Paul Ryan, the running mate of Mitt Romney, requested funds from the legislation he claimed to be so destructive to the American way of life. So did Senator John Cronyn (R) who wrote to the CDC requesting funds, as well as Senator Rob Portman (R) who stated that it was "essential services" for more than 8,966 uninsured constituents, and Congresswoman Kristi Noem (R) who wrote requesting grant funds for a Health Center in her district.

What do they have in common? They all bashed Obamacare as government overreach and a total failure. This is the epitome of, as we say in my neighborhood, "talking out the side of your mouth."

Oh, one thing, this is not mere heresay. It's fact. Letters were written for these requests and signed by these hypocrites. I'm not sure if they tried to time their submissions to the recent "scandal" parade and committee hearings, but it's like trying to sneak a fastball by Willie Mays. It ain't happening.

Just like the stimulus. Repubs voted against it, went on TV (Faux "news" anyway) to bitch about how awful it was, but then wrote letters asking for the funds and saying how great this would be for their constituents and got photos at ribbon cutting ceremonies where they wanted credit for all the jobs created...

Useless damned hypocrites.

Then again, per a recent Nbc/Wall Street Journal Poll, 49% of Americans say the ACA is a bad idea, as opposed to 37% who think it is a good idea. 38% think they will be worse off under the ACA.

Don't believe the HYPE! - Public Enemy, 1988

Again, think about it for a sec. These guys did everything in their power to sell us a bill of goods, and for what reason............

Repeal Obamacare (which was really RomneyCare with a few differences) and then introduce their own brand of ACA so as to appear to be the hero coming to the aid of their constituents. Meanwhile, we get real health reform that benefits the average joe. Why is it bad? Well, the health care machinery (well oiled I might add) doesn't get fed in the old way.

The hype is what those few that opposed it and wanted health care to remain in the hands of the drug companies, hospitals, doctors and other specialists. They determine the market, and we pay through the nose. What they don't realize is that if fewer and fewer folk are unable to pay for health care fewer doctors, etc. will be competing for the privileged few who can afford to pay. The system will eventually collapse.

I heard somewhere (may have been on the Daily Show) an economic expert say that it was not a good idea to completely rid ourselves of the deficit. I will try and find the expert and what he said, it made sense at the time.
