ETA - Got your post mixed up w/ M52Nickerson's.

Then apologize, if you have a shred of decency. You've seriously insulted someone, unnecessarily, and you owe her an apology.

Rappy's response? "You're lying, gullible ( believing in some BS you heard on msnbc ) or hard of hearing."

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Oh, well now rappy's gonna abandon the thread for sure. It's too bad, because I think the topic is worth discussion and he might get more out of it.

Yeah, he seems to have suddenly gotten very "busy", although he still finds time to post in lots of other active threads.

Apparently he is not man enough to apologize even when he is egregiously wrong and is casting aspersions on the character of another board member.

An apology would be nice.

I love how you skip over the part of first acknowledging the problem to " what are you going to do , declare war on everyone who htates us ? " . No one has suggested any such thing. But it must be first understood who they are and what they want.

Who doesn't know that? That's been acknowledged. But then what do you do? What does Lara suggest? She wants revenge? She wants eye for an eye. How is that going to happen? Tell me what the US can do regarding the deaths of those at the American embassy.

Quote:

And after a 5 point reply to my comments on Lara Logan, you END with a quick shift over to the 14 yr old girl who was shot ?

YOU started the thread on said 14 year old girl, with damn little compassion too. You posted it and used the incident to make your point that because posters here have been concerned with legislation regarding women in the US that clearly that meant they don't give a FAT RAT'S ARSE about the treatment of women in other countries. This is simply a logical fallacy.

Then you posted the Lara Logan video. So your stuff is abit disjointed too, dont you think.

Quote:

Also, watch the video. Transcripts don't always convey the whole story.

I said before, I don't watch videos.

Indeed. The reason so many people are pointing out the legislation regarding women in the U.S. is BECAUSE we don't want this country to go down the road that some others have taken regarding women and their rights!

Give them half a chance, and I'd bet that the people of Pakistan will be happy to take care of this matter themselves.

You know how we don't like other countries telling us how to behave, how to punish our criminals or treat them, etc.? Yeah... turns out that many other countries tend to feel the same way when it comes to their internal matters.

I hope Malala will make a full recovery. And I hope that justice will be done to those who committed this act, and I hope that the people of Pakistan will take a good long look at where they are and decide where they want to go from here.

Oh, and also...

How can that be? We've been told to believe that all Middle Eastern men are more backwards than the people of 2000 years ago and that they routinely saw the heads off people and fly planes into buildings.

They couldn't possibly care about a little girl, could they? How will we ever convince the world that they're all monsters if they can care about their own children?

Oh, no surely not. They are too backwards to fix things. What they need is a good invasion to sort them out. That always works so well!

Yeah, I've seen that first hand when I discuss gun laws or capital punishment laws (which I think are pretty medieval).

Me too. I take heart in her bravery and the support she is receiving from other young women who refuse to be silenced.

An explanation suffices here. Done.

Somehow, "I told you so" just doesn't seem to cover it.

Oh, wait - yes, it does.
