You're SO easy to set up.

" Never "? Meaning I don't NEVER defend Rush at every turn. ??

Nice double negative. lol

So, being 'fat' is a crime, which one can be absolved of, is that it ? What's that mean for Michael Moore then ?

Rush did lose 90lbs. I give him credit for that, where as it seems you're still stuck in the past. And sorry, but if he's not using now, is clean, then he's not an addict. So there's nothing to 'breeze past', what so ever.

Sorry, that's a good sentiment, but I don't think too many follow it. And I can't keep doing this, I gotta get outta here. Enjoy.

Niki - This is a *CLASSIC example of where you and I see things differently. We both read and see the exact same words, yet you go and change it to fit your view. How so ? Here's what I mean...

The phrase is " UNLESS it is consistent with what you already KNOW to be true ", not what you BELIEVE. And imo, there's a big difference.

Neal says that the Braves won the game last night, 5-2.
I was at the game last night, and saw the Braves win, 5-2.
Neal was right.

However, replace " I was at the game last night " with " A good friend of mine was there ", and what you KNOW to be true becomes what you BELIEVE to be true.

See the difference ?

Oh, and I'm assuming that, even though you claim you're not engaging me in conversation ( AGAIN ), you'll ignore all that as you have in the past. I'm use to this little dance move of yours.

*Note: Distinct from my humorous and yes, slightly snarky 'Crassic' remark, I truly and sincerely mean to point out something in very clear and noticeable fashion.

Yep, another RapFact to add to the list! THANKS for providing the endless entertainment! AND for being so easy to manipulate! THAT was FUN. I'm going to do that more often.

I can't imagine anyone despising Obama more than I do, but the whole concept of Rush Limbaugh kinda sickens me. An entire endeavor devoted daily to nothing but Obama and Dem bashing is a bit much for anyone with a discerning mind. I know I can't listen to his spew for more than a minute. Sometimes you gotta just live with things in this world, you don't whine and malign every day about it 'cause that's psychotic behavior. Also his snorting, chortling, and harumphing style is totally obnxoious, even when I'm supposed to like what he's saying.

Rush, Boortz and darn near every talk show 'personality' do tend to fall back on their routine, and get stuck in 'shtick' , from time to time. Which is one reason why I listen to so many different stations. If i hear that Rush is going off on some tired old rant, one I've heard before, I change to something else. Or like Boortz, when he goes off on his well rehearsed routines on the FAIRTax , abortion or some other topic. I've heard it all before, and I know exactly what they'll say. Broken record. But I know why they do it. They say they repeat this stuff for the NEW listeners, or some such. Which is fine. And it's also why I rarely tune into one show, every day, from start to finish.

And I REALLY can't stand to listen to Hannity. He's fine in short doses, but man...his voice grates on me something fierce.

So are you claiming that you've never insulted anyone based solely on their looks? Someone like, say, Michael Moore, for instance? Or Helen Thomas? Or Rosie O'Donnell? Never?

Okay, just once, because I was stupid enough to engage in this conversation:

I read that you said "know" and I changed it to "believe" for a very good reason. My remark about believing was because I don't see how you can "KNOW" anything with regard to any issue. You can't be there, so from where do you get the information which cause you to BELIEVE you KNOW? If you only get info from the sources you've listed (and you've given no others, so Ican't "know" where you got info that convinces you that you "know", get it?), then what you think you "know" is actually what you "believe" to be true. All those sources will give the conservative viewpoint, and none, from what I've been able to discern, are neutral sources of information. None of us can actually know beyond a shadow of a doubt what is true, but by investigating a number of sources that are as neutral as we can find, and trying to read between the lines, etc., we have our best shot at understanding as close to the truth as possible. According to you, you do none of that, you listen exclusively or almost exclusively to right-wing sources, and don't even sem to be able to conceptualize that even listening to right AND left sources doesn't give one the facts, nor have you advanced any opinion that you hunt through as neutral sources as you can find, then investigate elsewhere to try and suss out what the facts really ARE.

In other words, the statement "UNLESS it is consistent with what you already KNOW to be true" is a fallacy in and of itself. We can't know, we can only believe. Can you comprehend that? THAT is why I chose to replace the word "know" with "believe". And hopefully now I can pull myself away from this--ironic that you can state you tried to "truly and sincerely mean to point out something in very clear and noticeable fashion", when added to the snarks of "classic" and some dance or other. Kind of defeats your purpose. I explained why I fell victim to trying to communicate with you, and you do KNOW perfectly well that I try not to do so; that I fail every now and again is no dance, merely human fallibility...added to the fact that I'd really like to be able to communicate with you, on some weird level, since we do share a few things in common. Ridiculous, I realize and do tell myself every time, but periodically I weaken. Snarking about it will do you about as much good as all your other snide remarks, and only serves to remind me how futile it is to do anything other THAN ignore you as best I can.

Atta girl. I " knew " you'd come around.

But seriously, I think you're WAY over analyzing this whole 'know / believe' stuff.

I THINK this, but I don't KNOW it. And the reason I think, or 'believe' this, is that ,well, it's me. Just as some said they were NOT going to let me school them on something, indicating that , under no circumstance, would they allow me to 'win' , regardless of the issue, the facts, details... because it was ME, they were going to take the opposing view, and fight me on it, at all costs.

I see this happening here. It wasn't MY statement you changed the wording over, it was something Neal Boortz said. But because I'm the one who posted it, you can't take it at face value, can you ? Might be because it's me, or just because it was some 'conservative' talk show host, but regardless, you can't let it just stand, can you?

This has been fun.

Rush didn't steal from anyone, isn't using, hasn't deprived anyone of their live, liberty or tried to deny anyone of either, through force or fraud. His actions are his own, affecting no one else. The fact that he's white or conservative is immaterial.

You really do have no case here, what so ever.

Nah, nah, nah, Mike...Rush said if people ARE DOING drugs. Rush supposedly isn't DOING drugs anymore, so you can't count him. He wasn't really "doing drugs" anyway, they're legal you know, so he didn't need to be convicted, etc. Now that he's LEARNED he was (mind you, "was"!) addicted to drugs, he's not an addict anymore. See how easy it is?

I can't help this, it's irresistable.

First: The right has been breathing fire about Obama supposedly saying nobody builds a business on their own for how long now? And Raptor has been parroting it for just as long, right up until yesterday, in the middle of a thread about global warming. With things like:
Quote:

Niki, it's NOT a 'lie', and THAT is pure and simple. You may not LIKE the facts as they are, but you disagreeing with reality doesn't make something a " lie ". You REALLY really need to grow up.
Keep that in mind, okay?

Now, I don't watch most of the TV shows I enjoy at the time they're broadcast, since On Demand lets me watch them whenever it's convenient for me. Ergo, I didn't catch The Daily Show's episode which included the following until this morning. As I sat there laughing, I kept thinking of how Raptor has been stuck on this latest talking point like a dog with a bone, completely refusing to give an inch and insisting it proves "Obama hates small businesses." So I had to share what I heard, for those of you who don't watch The Daily Show. This is, in my opinion, the most salient, sane, humorous, ADULT response to Raptor and the right glomming onto "You didn't build that" and running with it like a bunch of four year olds who just snagged a cookie and are trying to get away from their moms (moms = reality):

(6 minutes long--'scuse the ad) http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-july-25-2012/democalypse-2012---
do-we-look-stupid--don-t-answer-that-edition---grammatical-gaffes

In essence: "Hanging your entire political argument on a person's slight grammatical misstep is what people do in an argument when they're completely fucked and they know they have no argument!" That about sums it up; go Jon!

The segment just before that, if anyone wants the background, also humorous, is here:
(3:30 minutes long--'scuse the ad): http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-july-25-2012/democalypse-2012---
do-we-look-stupid--don-t-answer-that-edition

I hope the intelligent, sane adults among us who watch it enjoy laughing with another intelligent, sane adult showing in a humorous fashion just how stupid, insane and infantile this whole situation is.

On another point, I'm beginning to change my mind about Raptor. I was thinking he is just a bored troll, saying over-the-top things, pretending ignorance, insisting on things that were patently untrue, etc., etc., just to get a rise out of people. Over the last few days I've begun to change my mind. It helped to understand that, rather than making an effort to hunt up as unbiased sources as possible, weigh them and ferret out the truth as best he can to make up his own mind, his choice is to listen to...in the first place...TALK RADIO (!)...and in the second, seemingly exclusively CONSERVATIVE talk radio. Another piece of the puzzle fell into place when he apparently snarked at me for not knowing anything about those conservative talk radio hosts...and didn't seem to grasp what I was saying in that neither conservative NOR liberal sources are what I seek out. This appears to mean that to him, the only valid source of facts is to listen to one or the other, or both, which to me means you only get the spin from one side or both sides, neither of which will give you any or all of the actual facts.

There was more, bits and pieces that have fallen in place since I learned this. They have caused me to rethink my opinion of Raptor...I now believe he's not really all that smart, and is so very, very soaked in what he hears on talk radio that he's not trolling, he actually--incomprehensible as that may seem---BELIEVES everything he espouses completely and fully, and will defend it to the death, even if proven otherwise, factually incorrect to begin with, or just plainly absurd. Once you realize he's either not smart enough or too lazy to try and find out facts for himself, it makes sense that he would merely incorporate what he hears and never question it. I find that kind of sad, but I guess it will be of use in that he will become for me a perfect reflection of all those out there who unquestioningly swallow the propaganda they are fed from the right: a bellweather of what to expect from the right-wing masses, if you will. It saddens me.

Okay, back to watching the rest of the Daily Show episode...after all that, I need a giggle.

Rush can think what ever the hell he wants. He's not MY messiah, as Obama is for you.

I think anyone should be able to do any damn drug they want. But then they have to pay for the consequences, should they drive, murder, or what ever. Same as what we have w/ alcohol. It's legal, and folks are free to abuse the hell out of it, 7 days a week, if they choose to. But don't expect anyone else to pay for your health problems which are the inevitable result. Same w/ eating fast foods, sodas, sodium, saturated fats... do what ever the hell you want.

Just don't expect me or the govt to PAY for it. Too cruel ? Tough. Don't fuck up your own body.

And speaking of drug abuse, Niki ? I don't know where you've been for the past, oh 8 years, but I have ALWAYS said, from day 1, that I say what I believe. We've HAD this discussion before. You feign shock and bewilderment that ANYONE could really think the things I do, and then start straight away with the " he's really really dumb, if he thinks that! " nonsense.

*yawn*

It's cute that you think Obama isn't getting hammered by his " you didn't build it" mantra, and that REAL Americans aren't sick and tired of his shit. The majority of small business owners, and Americans, disagree w/ his socialistic views on this matter.

I think the "you didn't build that" thing is funny as hell, really.

Rappy, who always bitches and moans about things being "taken out of context", then of course ALWAYS has to take things out of context, and he clearly hasn't heard the whole speech, or even the sections directly adjacent to the "you didn't build that" part, because they happen to agree with what Rappy and Romney have said both before and since Obama's speech.

They're only pissed at Obama for saying it because he's black, or because he's a Democrat. Those are the only two options, since they've both said essentially the same things.

And then Romney tries to capitalize on it with a commercial that stars a guy who's taken close to a million bucks in government handouts, who claims he DID "build that" with his own two hands (conveniently not mentioning the hands of all the millions of taxpayers whose money he was happy to take).

So yeah, this shit *IS* funny to me. I'm laughing at Romney and I'm laughing at Rappy, and I'm laughing at anybody stupid enough to believe either of them.

And yes, as Niki noted, Jon Stewart and millions of other Americans are laughing their asses off at this idiocy, too.

http://www.politicususa.com/jon-stewart-slays-romneys-build-attack.htm
l

Quote:

In last night’s episode “Democalypse 2012 – Do We Look Stupid? Don’t Answer That Edition – Grammatical Gaffes” Jon Stewart slayed Mitt Romney’s “You didn’t build that” attack on President Obama, laying it bare until it he exposed that “Romney’s attack on Barack Obama’s slight grammatical misstep regarding small business is what people do in an argument when they’re completely f**ked.”

Stewart pointed out that Romney is hanging his whole campaign on a willful misunderstanding, leaving out Obama’s “the point is” discussion in order to “make willful hay out of this rather common, singular, plural demonstrative pronoun snafu.”

Stewart played clips of Fox News taking the President out of context in his “you didn’t build that alone” speech, replete with their name-calling attacks. Mocking Fox News, Stewart pointed out that Obama’s “‘You didn’t build that’ is ‘grade-school Marxism’ or as your second grade teacher might have said, sharing.”

Stewart was outraged, “Guys! He was clearly talking about building roads and bridges! It was in the speech. Do you really want to hang your entire campaign on a willful, out of context, misunderstanding?”

Answering his own question, Stewart rolls Steve Doocey claiming that he’s going to show his viewers “what the President said that got him into trouble with Republicans.” Stewart congratulated Doocey for setting the record straight and putting the comment in its proper context, and then played a clip where Doocey left the entire middle part out of Obama’s speech.

“Where’s the middle part? You didn’t even flash through it? You just had Obama dissolving to dust like a bad CGI vampire! That’s not in context, that’s just different no context!” Stewart concludes, “Can you be more manipulative?”

And then Stewart rolls clip of Fox News interviewing two little girls about their lemonade stand, who said, “I would say that’s very rude because we worked very hard to build this business….” And then the bomb drops, “But we did have help. Our help came from our investors, our dad and step-mom along with other friends and family.” Ouch.

Stewart makes the point that both sides like to have fun with gaffes, but “This ain’t a gaffe! This is the centerpiece of Romney’s entire campaign. He’s got signage, t-shirts and this unrelenting ad.” The ad is Obama saying over and over again, “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that.”

“Mr. Romney, hanging your argument on people’s grammatical misstep is what people do when they’re completely fu*ked and they have no argument.”

For the kill shot, Stewart sought higher ground by urging Romney to discuss his differences with the President, and then juxtaposed clips of Obama’s “You didn’t build that alone” speech with clips of Mitt Romney’s Olympic “You didn’t win alone” speech. No difference. Romney even thanked the government.

Stewart’s most devastating point is that Romney is hanging his entire campaign on a deliberate misunderstanding of Obama’s position. His entire campaign.

In spite of recent polls showing that voters want to know more about Mitt Romney (including his tax returns), the Romney campaign absolutely refuses to go positive. Instead, they keep doubling down on their primary campaign strategy of relentlessly negative ads.

The negativity will work on the Republican base who is brainwashed by Fox News into believing Republicans’ blatant propaganda about this President, but Romney can’t win just with the base. Remember when we were told that Romney would etch-a-sketch to the middle? That’s not happening.

Romney is staying far right, ensconced in his Fox bubble of epistemic closure, where he truly believes that he is running this show and can set the agenda. Jon Stewart might be a comedian, but he stripped Romney to his bare core last night in just six minutes.

Romney is hanging his whole campaign on an out of context quote. Why? Because Mitt Romney can’t afford to tell you people about his real plans.

(That's not all Romney can't afford to tell us about, is it?)
