More than what? The ten year estimate for a completely different time period? Read the article and try to understand where you're wrong.

It's not personal. It's just war.

I'm not wrong. This is pure smoke and mirrors. Collect for 10 years, but only spend for 6, and then spread the cost per year out over a decade, and voila, you have the big O-Care 'savings' lie.

There is no savings. This is an absolute colossal burden on the taxpayers.

Thankfully, it'll be ruled unconstitutional, or repealed after the Nov elections.

From the latest CBO report:

Quote:

CBO and JCT have previously estimated that the ACA will, on net, reduce budget deficits over the 2012-2021 period; that estimate of the overall budgetary impact of the ACA has not been updated.

And on the $1.1 trillion figure you've heard:

Quote:

Those amounts do not encompass all of the budgetary impacts of the ACA. They do not include federal administrative costs, which will be subject to future appropriation action. Also, they do not include the effects of the many other provisions of the law, including some that will cause significant reductions in Medicare spending relative to that under prior law and others that will generate added tax revenues relative those under prior law.

It's funny that you think what you posted actually means this will cost us anything less, when it's already costing us a trillion dollars more than it should in the first place.

ETA - Even if the cost were $ 500 billion less, it's still a horrible idea.

The CBO: "the insurance coverage provisions of the ACA will have a net cost of just under $1.1 trillion over the 2012–2021 period— about $50 billion less than the agencies’ March 2011 estimate".

Quote:

it's already costing us a trillion dollars more than it should in the first place.

?
One thing is clear, and incontrovertible, Aurap: the ACA will significantly save money, and reduce deficits. The CBO has said so in the past, and repeated it here. So if you're accusing anyone of smoke and mirrors you may as well start with the CBO.

It's not personal. It's just war.

Well I'm sure you have your reasons, but the fact that it saves money can't be one of them?

It's saving exactly ZERO money. It's COSTING trillions of dollars. What about that his hard for you to comprehend?

Don't worry, I understand your wrong, misinformed position. Now let's see if you can understand reality.

1) ACA will cost trillions of dollars over future decades, and its year on year costs will increase steadily (as with heath care costs everywhere else in the world).
2) The system it's replacing was going to cost more, and increase in price faster.

Is the CBO wrong then? Come on you may as well just come out and say it.

No, you're just misreading what's going on here.
The 'savings' is 50 billion less than they said it would be, which is 1.1 trillion more than it needs to be.

Like I said, smoke and mirrors by the administration. Nothing less.

No, the 'saving' is by definition how much less Obama's health care reforms will cost, than the system they're replacing. That 'saving' has just been revised upwards by $50 billion.

which is 1.1 trillion more than it needs to be.

It's still saving money if it's cheaper than the old system, which it is.

It's not saving 1 cent. It's costing us 1.7 trillion, and then the costs will actually go up after that.

And go up a LOT more. But thankfully, we can expect it all to be tossed in the trash can, so the only real harm done is in how some , like you, believe OCare was a good thing, at all.

It wasn't.

CAVETROLL

The CBO released a report that indicates that the costs are already 10%-13% higher than estimated per family. I would REALLY love to see the math on how spiraling costs are going to save the budget money.

...GOP critics noted that when the president pitched his health care reform, he said it would cut the cost of the typical family's premium by up to $2,500 a year.

But the new CBO report says those health insurance premiums are actually expected to increase by up to 10 to 13 percent...

NIKI2

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Magons is right, and I hope KPO has actually stopped trying. Now, Mike, can we get you to do the same? ANY effort to educate those we have here who are determined to stay blind to the facts is only feeding into their delusions, because they will always be able to find written somewhere wich will "back up" what they believe, even if it doesn't actually do so.

I know Mike loves playing their game, but KPO surely has better things to do than piss into the wind and give them attention. Just keep in mind that the desperate need to believe one way which will never, ever be changed by the facts.

Politicians will forever argue and present "facts" on their side which may well change with time--in fact, usually do. That is true on both sides. Only history will show what is actually true.

In fact, just putting up a thread like this will have no other effect than to bring them racing in to argue. Beyond the facts presented, we should just leave them alone to pursue their necessity to believe what they need to believe. I do appreciate the information, thank you, but I'm sad to see anyone try to debate them, as debate with close-minded people is a waste of energy.
