Her representatives have denied it, but other news agencies are reporting it, too.

Edit: Her death was confirmed. :(

I think its official. 48 is way too young. She had a wonderful voice, but her type of music was never my cup of tea.

RIP

Magons: That's about how I feel, too; I didn't care for her music very much, but I was in awe of her voice. Amazing power and range. I don't know where it all went so wrong for her, but I hoped she'd pull out of it.

How sad. Don't know her music except from "Bodyguard" and there it was spectacular. Always sad to lose such talent so young. Unfortunately, happens all too often with celebs. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

Oh great, NOW who's gonna run Bartertown ?

Really though, I thought she did an awesome job of that role, and she certainly had a full and rich life, cut short that it was - may we all be so lucky..

So what killed her? The drug addiction returning? Consequences from it? A fluke? She was extremely talented.

Frem, you're slipping. That was Tina Turner.

ABC is reporting that she was found in a bathtub. Accidental drowning is the most likely cause of death. There may be associated causes.

I'm more concerned for her daughter. Losing a parent is always difficult.

Sounds like she OD'd on prescription drugs, and or a combo of alcohol, passed out, and drowned in the tub.

Pretty sure Frem was attempting humor. Of course, had *I* said something like that, I'd be accused of being a racist, by suggesting " they all look alike " , or some such crap. Isn't that right, Storybook ?

But yeah, hope her daughter doesn't go down a similar path. With her dad being who he is, it would be a double tragedy.

Erk, yah my brain locked up on that one...

It's tragic how some people go, I rather liked Vanity (aka Denise Matthews) as well, and watching her trade one twisted addiction (drugs) for another (religion) just pained me, cause she had amazing talents for art and music.

The problem with folk who've had really rough early beginnings when they find fame and fortune, is that they never quite accept it, keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, thus invoking paranoia and a whole host of other mental issues - not to mention fame is so unkind to some people, like Michelle Rodereguiz, who it has certainly done no favors.

It's a damn shame our society often leaves people so terribly broken they can't even truly appreciate it when they finally come out from the shadow of their past, because for them it never goes away.

I've decided that after leading a long, vigorous life, at the age of 90 I want to die fighting a rabid tiger, in the center of a nuclear power plant undergoing a meltdown, surrounded by a minefield, in the middle of a small volcanic island undergoing an eruption. Can't wait to see the obituary from the afterlife.

Frem, who's Vanity? Is she a singer?

So yeah, they don't know what killed her, they're doing a toxicology test, but that won't come back for six to eight weeks, so we don't know what happened and won't until then, unless something else is obvious in the autopsy. They are doing an autopsy right? The news said her body was being flown home, but they really shouldn't bury her without an autopsy.

Autopsy was done yesterday. Coroner says anything he could say before the tox screens come back would be speculation.

Sorry to say I never liked her voice. It was big and kinda of brassy, but not pleasant to listen to and not exactly always on-key. I hear imitations of it on American Idol (when I'm flipping channels) usually even less pleasant and less on-target. Patti LaBelle in her heyday, much better. But it's still sad that she couldn't escape her demons. Nobody should die that young.

The style of singing isn't my speed either Signe. But for that style I feel she had a tremendous talent, even though its not my speed it is still talent in my opinion.
