First the Tea Party is mocked, ridiculed, and poo-pooed by the Left.

Then the Tea Party is branded as a racist organization. All those folks are racists, including all the African-American Republicans who got elected last year with Tea Party support, and call themselves Tea Party members.

Now, hurling profanities at the Tea Party is accepted as the new Liberal norm.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

"Fuck you" is fair enough; I got "bitch", etc., in response, and I get that sort of crap no matter how reasonable I am. So occasionally I might as well EARN it. Which shows how easy it is to bring them into the gutter. I rarely go there; they go there daily. I'm not worried.

And I repeat yet again: I'm an Independent. Tho' "liberal" is fair enough. I don't think they're racist, by the way, I think there are racists AMONG them, and that some people's unconscious fear (and in some cases, unconscious racism, which is fear anyway) has been tapped into in order to gain power. It won't last, of that I have no doubt, it's how much damage they can do while they HAVE that power which I find frustrating. Hopefully the pendulum will turn (it always does) before they do too much damage.

Ironically, they defeat themselves. They were given poewr out of fear because things are so bad and Obama hasn't waved a magic wand and fixed it; instead they're fnding out FAST that what they got was a Trojan Horse. IF they'd played it smart and done a bit for jobs while beng less obvious about what they REALLY wanted to do (they could have made gains quietly and stayed in power to do more), they wouldn't be more and more hated by the people who they fooled. The midterms were a gut reaction, not a referendum, and they're doing themselves in quite nicely...just ot fast enough.

Lol The hardcore liberals are really scared of the Tea Party, aren't they?

And they SHOULD be.

For (at least) 40 odd years, so-called "liberals" have run roughshod over every American.

Now, finally, the people are standing up.

Their (liberals) policies are abysmal failures, their beliefs are likewise shown to be evil. Interesting times we live in, when free-minded people start to wake up.

Obama has over spent this nation to the brink of destruction.

The reasonable TEA party members, trying to restore sanity to Washington can , in no way what so ever, bring the economy down.

The bizarre narrative you folks on the Left try to tell your stories, never does cease to amaze.

there DOES seem to be an upswing in spending in the time between 1940 and 1960.

Hmm. I wonder what happened in that time frame?

So anyway - any sane adults care to have a discussion?

I was wondering about the graph - how can we have an even higher per-GDP debt load in the 40s and 50s and have a booming economy, while today it's staggering under less load? And when you look around the world you see similar patterns. Singapore with a very high debt load is thriving. Countries with lower debt loads are stumbling.

So I think the debt per se has very little to do with economic health.

What I think marks the 40s and 50s in the US is the aggressive Eisenhower redistribution of wealth. Top tax rates were at 91%. And I suspect corporate taxes were higher than now. Now, maybe the reason was to pay down the debt, but the effect was to move wealth from the dead-end holdings of the very wealthy back into the economy.

Anyone have any historical or other tidbits or thoughts to share about this?

Obama has over spent this nation to the brink of destruction.

So where, exactly, is the "brink of destruction"? It has to be somewhere between $11.5 trillion and $14.3 trillion. What's the magic dollar figure? Bush left us at more than 11.5 trillion in debt. Clearly he put the car on the course to go over the cliff, and set a brick on the accelerator. And of course, you and your beloved tea-bagging idiot friends were nowhere to be found then. In fact, you claimed that tax revenues would go UP by doing so. Funny, funny stuff.

There's no such thing as a "reasonable" tea-bagger, as y'all have clearly shown here today.

The tea party, that "bastion of financial responsibility", is now openly telling everyone in the world that if they have their way, the United States will NEVER pay its way or pay its debts. That's your tea party, Rappy. Deadbeats. Bums. Freeloaders and moochers.

Completely different issue, and irrelevant to this discussion, but I see what you did there.

It's what Lefties always try to do. Deflect and try to switch the attention off of them and the issue at hand, to keep from having to carry out a mature discussion.

And, of course, predictably, you'll now claim *I'm* one to talk , that I'm even less capable of carrying out a mature discussion, when every bit of evidence suggests otherwise....and you'll claim some sort of victory, by being able to keep this childish sniping going on, perpetually, so that all hope of civility is long, long buried.

You've never even pretended to be interested in civility or any kind of mature discussion.

Look at your initial post in this thread.

Look at what you've had to say since.

Nothing but pettiness and name-calling. It's how every "discussion" goes with you. Someone posts facts that contradict your ludicrous claims, and you blow up, start calling them names, and storm out of the thread, refusing to offer any evidence for your claims, refusing to post any cites, claiming that everyone here is too stupid to waste your time on, and that we're not worthy of your esteemed response.

They're a buncha brownshirt facism enablers, proud of their ignorance, celebrating their intolerance, and screaming for the blood of anyone who doesn't think and act JUST LIKE THEM.

Ergo, they're fucking monsters.

Look behind any tyranny in the last hundred years and exactly what brought it to power, and you will find the exact same behavior, the exact same rhetoric - with the exact same results.

Slapping an american flag over their destructive behavior doesn't make it any other thing no more than slapping one on a Chevy Aveo (96% Manufactured in S. Korea) makes it an american made car.

All it does is show their inherent perfidy and cowardice by refusing to admit their intentions, which are despite this no secret among the sensible, and when you remove the astroturfing and sockpuppetry, in the end they're just a tiny, pathetic handful of loudmouths who the only good cure for... is a rope.

So by all means, fly your banner proudly (as if you really would, you gutless fucks), so that the reasonable people fed up with your shit can properly ostracise you and excise you from their society like the cancer upon it you are.

Yes, there are numerous historical examples of economies booming under heavy debt loads, AND higher tax rates than what the US has now (as you mentioned). These are big glitches in the matrix of people like Rappy, and Wulf. I guess they just shrug them off.

The US economy IS headed towards a cliff on its current trajectory though, with its debt - even the IMF says so. But that's not to say it can't be turned around. Other countries in the past have turned around higher debt/gdp ratios, and paid down their debt.

It's not personal. It's just war.

I'm willing to bet they didn't pay down their debt with tax cuts.

Apparently Wulf thinks that the only types of people here are liberals and "freethinkers" apparently a free thinker can't be liberal? ... You guys are all hopeless, all of you in this thread it seems, going round and round, too bad you don't go faster like one of those super cool carnival rides that I like and still ride on, dispite my body not being what it used to be, sadly.

Interesting times we live in, when free-minded people start to wake up.

let the adults handle this. Its cute that you want to voice your opinion. But its rude to speak when adults are talking.

(Btw.. to the rest of the free-thinking people.. dealing with liberals is like dealing with an over-opinionated 12 y.o. Its cute to let them run on, but after a while they need to be taught to be quiet.)

Compare the language in the title of this thread as compared to the one Niki started.

It's far more civil, by a long shot.

By the way, congrats on being so grown-up about resorting to the "But SHE started it!" cop-out, Rappy. Wulfie is proud of your 12-year-old self.
About says it all. It's SO adult to resort to putting up a silly thread as a come-back to another thread. Adult and all, you know.

Different issue?? See above; I think it's quite relevant to note that your "language" has been smattered time and time again with obscenities, when you're trying to pretend you're more "civil". Unclear on the concept much?

Kiki and Riona: I don't like the idiotic back and forth usually, either. But this thread is such an obvious and started right OUT without any substance, that the only thing it's WORTH is mockery. How can you have an intelligent discussion in something titled "Proudly flying my TEA party flag" that starts out with "Don't tread on me bitch". You can't look for intelligent discussion in a thread like this, it's just fun to play with. Now if you were to start a REAL discussion on the issue you brought up Kiki, I think you'd find numerous people interested in discussing it. Interspersed of course with right-wing rhetoric, put downs and personal attacks, but we can ignore those if we want to. Personally, I think it would be an interesting discussion.

Well duh, the CoTL banner is a white rose on a black background, not that you knew that, but I found the reference especially ironic for that reason.

Wow, wulfie, YOUR definition of "American" is pretty narrow, innit? Better be careful because those "others"... people who were born in this nation but somehow don't meet your definition of "American" ... outnumber you by a significant margin. And a lot of them ALSO have guns and know how to use them. (Just kind of preemptively bringing that up since that's your go-to response. That and videos, of course. And videos of guns, overlaid with hard-rock soundtrack.)
