Another straw poll victory for Rep. Ron Paul. A surprise second place finish in the vote by former Utah Gov. and former U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman. And very well received speeches by Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Rep. Michele Bachmann.

But all were possibly overshadowed by the most bizarre moment of the Republican Leadership Conference 2011, the performance of a President Barack Obama impersonator who was pulled from the stage after delivering some controversial jokes.

The comedian, impersonator Reggie Brown, came onto the stage Saturday to the tune of "Born in the USA," a reference to the theory by some on the far right that Obama was not born in the United States. The release by the state of Hawaii of the president's long-form birth certificate has discredited the so-called "birther" movement in the eyes of most Americans.

Brown made a series of jokes at the president's expense, at one point showing a picture of the main characters from the 1970s television show "Sanford and Son" to illustrate what Obama and the First Lady would look like after leaving office.

After Brown began to make jokes at the expense of some Republicans, including House Speaker John Boehner and some of the GOP presidential hopefuls, he was pulled off stage by RLC organizers, who said the performance had gone too far and was getting inappropriate.

Well, sheeeyut, here I was going to say "Wow! They pulled him off the stage for going overboard on Obama?! I'm truly impressed". But from what I read, it was when he started going after REPUBLICANS that they pulled him. Oh, well, it was a nice thought.

Yup, it was his mocking GOP candidates that got him thrown off. What a shame:

The room grew more uncomfortable as Brown turned to the candidates who are looking to make Obama a one-term president.

Brown took a shot at former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who missed the conference because "he's having his foot surgically removed from his mouth. Don't worry: it's covered under Obamneycare. Along with spinal transplants," Brown said.

The impersonator also made a joke about Romney's Mormon faith and polygamy, and Rep. Michele Bachmann's tea party support. Organizers then cut off Brown's microphone and turned on music.

Bah. No sense of humor...or is it that they can't take the heat? Personally, I'd have liked to hear his riff, I'D probably have enjoyed it, anyway.

HARDWARE

Voicing unpopular opinions is a bigger negative than being wrong.

It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so, and will follow it by suppressing opposition, subverting all education to seize early the minds of the young, and by killing, locking up, or driving underground all heretics - RAH

...and he that has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. Luke 22:36
