DNC chairwoman supports U.S. auto industry so much she owns a Japanese car

Crassic.

Oh, how embarrassing.

Like roll-up-the-tinted-windows-and-slouch-down-in-your-seat embarrassing.

The new chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee was criticizing Republicans who opposed President Obama's bailout of the American automakers union, oh, no, make that American automakers.

"If it were up to the candidates for president on the Republican side," said Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, "we would be driving foreign cars. They would have let the auto industry in America go down the tubes."

So Michael O'Brien of The Hill newspaper went and checked what kind of automobile loyal-American-car-supporter Debbie Wasserman Schultz owns.

Yup, you guessed it -- Japanese

Drive as she says, not as she does.

My Accord was built in America, by Americans. At the time, the "American as apple pie" Chevy Camaro was built in Canada.

Exactly what Japanese car does she drive? Toyota Tundra, built in San Antonio, Texas, maybe? Highlander built in Tennessee?

Meanwhile, here's what Mitt Romney had to say about the American auto industry: "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt!"

Not kidding. That's the title of an article he contributed to the NYTimes.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/19/opinion/19romney.html

I'd like the American auto industry to survive. I like being able to have choices in what I drive. I recently drove a new Chevy Malibu for a week, and loved it. I actually said, out loud and more than once, "I would actually buy this car!" And I've been driving Hondas almost exclusively since 1985, with a few strays thrown in here and there.

If the GOP had had its way, you wouldn't even be able to drive an American car today. They were - and still ARE - committed to killing the entire industry in this country rather than allow union workers to earn a decent wage. They're that petty. Rappy's a prime example.

Partisan horseshit, is what it is.

"American" cars built in (north) america, aka mexico, out of chinese and south korean parts cast from cheapshit potmetal I wouldn't boil potatoes in, under slave labor conditions by unskilled workers, and lets not even talk about the so-called electronics...

And you idiots let the Big Three piss all over you and slap a flag on it and chug away, don't you ?

Not that actual American engineering these days is all it's supposedly cracked up to be either - remember that brake defect the mainstream media hammered Toyota about despite it being a relatively minor thing which would have been buried under a million lameass excuses if that had been a Big Three manufacturer ?
(Remember folks, I own an Alero, check the fucking recall list and remember that my car is the only one in the state to have been lemon-law'd TWICE by different owners, for different problems!)

Well, the assembly in question, which was a problem directly due to piss-poor quality control and halfass manufacture, was in fact American-made, right in Indiana, by UAW workers, so how exactly (beyond failure to properly audit QC procedures, and you just TRY doing so up against the damn UAW reps, if you think it's fucking easy..) was that Toyotas fault there, neh ?

Not to mention, the Big Three build shit cars, while there was never an offical boycott, most people stopped buying GMs shitheaps, and what came out of that ?
Why, the Government stepped in, took our money, and gave it to them ANYWAY - so you can't even refuse to buy the goddamn things, since they got our money anyway and we didn't even get the shitty car!

Now, opposing that are quite a few "foreign" automakers who build their cars right here, employing American workers, and building reasonably (so far as the overpriced things ever are!) cost efficient vehicles of far better average quality and engineering than anything the Big Three have cranked out in damn near twenty years....

And some ignorant pissants wanting to hide their bitter racist nationalism choose to wrap a flag around it and scream like the ignorant yahoos they are - and this is supposed to impress me how ?

Fuck you, by all means, go right ahead and buy one of those overpriced (north) "american" made deathtrap shitheaps, slap a flag on it, rah rah rah - but by NO means have you any right to bitch about someone NOT purchasing crap, especially since even your nationalist-racist excuses don't hold any water at all, ya pricks.

Oh, and yeah verily, the EDR "black box" in my GM car not only is inoperable, attempting to access it by remote will get you a nice long text of profane bitching about my right to privacy and how much of a dick you are for snooping.

Do you have any cites where an automaker has been forbidden from building a plant somewhere in the U.S.?

Or are you just making stuff up out of desperation?

I was specifically thinking of Boeing, and it's plant in S. Carolina, actually. Which is a ridiculous case, though has nothing to do w/ why the auto companies failed. It is , however, a commentary on the destructive power of unions, and how this administration is all too willing and eager to tell companies how to run their businesses, for no other reason than to pay back their big $$ contributors.

Speakin of those damn EDRs, took me a bit to find a reasonably explaination, minus spin and doublespeak.

U.S. to propose mandatory vehicle 'black boxes'
David Shepardson/ Detroit News Washington Bureau

The U.S. Transportation Department said today it will propose making vehicle "black boxes" mandatory in all vehicles by the end of the year.

The department's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has long considered whether to make black boxes, officially called event data recorders, or EDRs, mandatory. They collect data about the seconds leading up to a crash and can help investigators determine the cause.

Last year, Congress considered requiring EDRs in all vehicles. NHTSA Administrator David Strickland told Congress the agency was studying the issue.

The plan was included in a 197-page Transportation Department regulatory reform proposal released by the White House this morning.

"NHTSA plans to propose mandatory EDRs in all passenger vehicles in 2011," the Transportation Department said in the report.

In a separate agency document posted on its website, NHTSA said it is also working on a proposal "for future enhancements to (EDRs) capabilities and applicability."

But the agency said it hasn't decided whether to require EDRs in heavy-duty vehicles.

Most automobiles already have the devices. NHTSA estimated that about 64 percent of 2005 model passenger vehicles had the devices. Many major automakers already include them all vehicles, including General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co., Toyota Motor Corp. and Mazda Motor Co.

In August 2006, NHTSA issued a rule setting standards for EDR data collection.

The rule, which takes effect in the 2013 model year, standardizes the information EDRs collect and makes retrieving the data easier. Devices must record 15 data elements, including vehicle deceleration, in specific formats.

Different automakers collect different data. In 2009, not all Toyota EDRs recorded both pre- and post-crash data. By the end of last year, all Toyota and Lexus vehicles included EDRs that can record both.

In May 2010, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, the trade association GM, Ford, Chrysler Group LLC, Toyota and eight other automakers, endorsed making EDRs mandatory in all vehicles, but expressed concerns that some in Congress wanted more elaborate and expensive ones than are available.

The devices have been in use for about 20 years.

GM began widely installing the predecessor version of today's event data recorders in vehicles in the 1990 model year, and they became standard equipment in light duty vehicles in the 1995 model year.

And OF COURSE they'll pass on the cost to you, and of course, more weight, as if the required equipment these days didn't already strain the suspension, yadda fuckin yadda...

Yanno, that's what killed that poor girl trying to fly cross country a while back, the FAA does this shit too, requiring more and more "safety" equipment till the goddamn plane is unsafe to fly, and then to dodge around it they "exempt" the weight from the vehicle load rather than admit the airframe can't handle it - and that equipment in fact put the aircraft eight hundred pounds over the limit, which is in great part what caused the crash.
http://tech.mit.edu/V116/N18/pilot.18w.html

I'm NEVER forgiving that, never.

And allowing the NTSB and others to do it to your cars is just bloody asking for it.

All American cars are foreign cars. The earthquake/tsunami/nuke disaster in Japan shut down US car factories in USA.

The Indy 500 was yesterday...all American racecars, engines, tires were BANNED. 70% of the drivers were wetbacks, including the winner. Many women drivers in the 500, who should win every race with their 50-pound weight advantage, but they never do (their job is to castrate USA and stop mommies having babies).

The rookie driving for the US National Guard team crashed out of the lead on the last corner of the last lap on MEMORIAL DAY...as US soldiers were on TV while watching the race in Afghanistan, realizing what a loser they really are... Unlike most US National Guard racers, this rookie was a US citizen, proving what a loser US citizens are. Can't go around having US citizens win the Indy 500 -- who do they think they are? He crashed dodging another loser US citizen blocking the racetrack trying to race with a diabetic coma.

How do you spell choke? JRHildebrand!
How do you spell loser...USA!

This is a Scab 500 race where all the REAL Indy 500 drivers, teams and sponsors were BANNED, eventually putting the REAL Indycar Series into bankruptcy, replaced at Indy with Eurotrash Formula 1 and NASCRAPCAR.

But at least Hollywood plays Pretend at Indy, fluffing the All Amerikan Ego:

As a matter of fact, F1 kingpin Bernie "Not Sir" Ecclestone became a billionaire, after doging a prison bullet at his London car dealership. I worked on a British F1 race team run by his partner in the car dealership who did go to prison. Berni was quoted saying he loves when race drivers are killed because it saves team owners and promoters money, calling it "the natural culling effect". Berni's the one who got all US Indy drivers and teams banned from Indy, replaced by F1. JEW.

Roger Penske/Penski/Pensky, the King of Indy, is who pissed off the owner of the Indy 500 Tony George. George was under mind control of psycho gangsta team owner AJ Foyt, driver of the Pace Car this year with the owner of Indy. Billionaire Penske is on the board of genocidal Marlboro and GE (the nice folk who nuked Japan this year). Since Indy now uses "identical" (wink wink nudge nudge) Italian spec cars with Jap engines and Jap tires, Mr "Unfair Advantage" don't stand a chance at Indy, despite his 424,000 square foot race team on 105 acres. Penske prefers drivers who are not US citizens. Penske bought Sataurn, then killed it. JEW.

I almost raced against Bryan Herta, the team owner winner of Indy Scab 500 this year, when Herta traveled to England to hire a team to race in British F3. But Herta chickened out, the competition was to tough. I have raced against several Indy 500 winners, or gotten drunk with them in their Party Bus.

My US team was on track for Indy, until my co-driver chopped his leg off when 70 feet of guardrail passed through his crotch.

Racing is no big deal, anyone can do it. JUST DO IT.

Now I go just as fast every day for a whole lot le$$...with mo boobies.

Yes, Kiki, it appears PN's having difficulty remember who is who here, and who's SO is doing what. He's too busy looking up crap to post and drooling over anything he can find to hate...especially if it has anything to do with Jews (or he can imagine it does). We forgive him, our expectations of someone who is TRULY crazy (not who just has a mental illness) are low.

As to the original post, she drives an Infiniti FX35, a "mid-size luxury crossover SUV". No excuse for either driving a Japanese-made car (made IN Japan, I believe) OR for driving such a gas-guzzler luxury SUV. But what she drives is exactly what Frem said, partisan bullshit which does nothing but reflect the desperation of those wanting to diss her. Wasserman-Schulz is smart and savvy; whether she’s any good as a party chairwoman remains to be seen, but this is such a truly silly attempt to smear her that it’s not even worth more than a glance and a smile.

As an aside, what the hell IS a "crossover"?? I've yet to figure that out.

I had no idea you considered yourself a "libtard", PN.

After all, you DID live in England for a while, yes? And you DO consider them a "Commie" nation (or worse), yes? And you DID move back to the USA, yes? And you DO want to overthrow the USA ASAP, right?

And to top it off, you've come out very much IN FAVOR of mass murder, as long as it's "illegals" who are being killed.

You do realize that George H. W. Bush negotiated that agreement, right?

Quote:

Following diplomatic negotiations dating back to 1986 among the three nations, the leaders met in San Antonio, Texas, on December 17, 1992, to sign NAFTA. U.S. President George H. W. Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mexican President Carlos Salinas, each responsible for spearheading and promoting the agreement, ceremonially signed it. The agreement then needed to be ratified by each nation's legislative or parliamentary branch.

In the U.S., Bush, who had worked to "fast track" the signing prior to the end of his term, ran out of time and had to pass the required ratification and signing into law to incoming president Bill Clinton. Prior to sending it to the United States Senate, Clinton introduced clauses to protect American workers and allay the concerns of many House members.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Free_Trade_Agreement

Clinton gets a lot of grief over that one. Bush gets none at all, despite it being his baby.

Bah, Bush-One might have spawned it, but Clinton popped it out, and for that the buck stops primarily on HIS desk, he coulda said no, yanno.

NAFTA, CALEA, and certain events in Mena, including but not limited to drugs and support for the Contras, material and otherwise, are things I hold firmly against that grinning bastard and feel very strongly he *should* have been impeached for the latter...

But noooo, all the opposition could come up with was getting freaky with some intern?
Whoop-de-freakin-do.
Honestly I think the REASON they sheared off attempting to impeach for acts of policy is that it would set a nasty precedent in which THEIR hand picked moron (that being Shrub, aka Bush-Two) would have found himself impeached even *faster* cause of the shit they intended to pull from the get-go, provided they had the right excuse, which some assholes handily and oh-so-conveniently provided on 9-11.

Anyhow, wasn't Bush-One who signed that damn thing into law, it was Slick Willie, and as such he bears primary responsibility.
