Yes, I rarely post vids, cause the signal to noise ratio regarding such posting is bad enough that most folk ignore them, but this one nails it out of the park so hard it's a must see.

I sincerely hope for Signyms input on this, but discussion is always valued.

What strikes me as ironic is that this is the same essential philosophy behind Kropotkins MUTUAL AID, and thus nothing most Anarchists haven't know for a damn long time.

And science HAS caught up, because Bruce Perry of CITIVAS/Childtrauma, and Maia Szalavitz, who was extremely instrumental in crushing the hellcamps, collaborated on a recent book tying both the sociology and the science into a single package.

So it's not like we don't KNOW what the solution is, but how to get there from here, now that is up to debate, but of course the major stumbling block, in my opinion, is thus.

Why Does the World Feel Wrong?
http://www.strike-the-root.com/91/groves/groves1.html
Quote:

Our battle for liberty appears not just as a conflict between those who want freedom versus those who want control, but instead as the battle between normal people and the psychopaths. I have found incredible explanatory power of our world within the psychopathic hypothesis: The world feels wrong because psychopaths run it. In a country trained to discount and ridicule all ideas more than a standard deviation from the average, coherent explanations of observable social phenomena don't get much press. Without understanding physical laws, we would never have gained the massive improvements in our quality of life from technological developments. Similarly, without understanding our social systems, we will never escape from the tyranny unleashed on us by psychopaths. We should spread the word and explore this rich vein of thought with vigor.

Which finally comes down to, in essence, a single quotation which defines my own existence, in thought and deed.
Quote:

“There are two great powers,” the man said, “and they’ve been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit.”
Philip Pullman - The Subtle Knife

Honestly, I think this is all but inevitable provided we do not destroy ourselves first, and here's the rub, people...

We're SEEING THIS HAPPEN, here, there, everywhere.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Interesting.

I've known about mirror neurons for a while. I believe they are an essential part of empathy. I agree that the most basic drive of human is to BELONG. Unfortunately, the drive to belong is a great weakness as well as a great strength, because people want so fiercely to belong they will often join entities which are inimical to their own self-interest.

A lot of this DOES have to do with early conditioning.

I thought the factory-model of eduction was particularly insightful. I've never had a problem in the educational system, but my DH and DD have, so I know for a fact that the same approach doesn't work for everyone. I question, however, the importance of artistic experience. I've been fully engaged in painting at a creative peak. It's like nothing else... not like sex or sports or anything. But it's also a PERSONAL experience, and one that can't actually be shared or transmitted.

Well, from watching world events, I am starting to become convinced that we're in the middle of an evolutionary jump, and part of it seems the ability to expand ones "monkeysphere" beyond the nation-state, and while there's still a slight religious component, that seems less important to those involved than the human one, as seen when those of different beliefs stood watch over each other.

Of course, there's one country in particular which seems damn well bound and determined to go in the OPPOSITE direction, and I don't think anyone needs three guesses to figure out which one.

But really, I think we're seeing the drawback prior to the tsumani here, a sea-change of opinion which I have been predicting for a while, although I guesstimated another fifteen years or so - what I didn't account for is that it need not occur HERE, D'oh!, bit of reflexive nationalism and genius-idiocy on my part, that.

What I fear is that when the psychos in charge are really pressed to the wall, what they might do - since many of these critters, even ours, would gladly nuke the planet into ash than see it in any hands but their own.

Much as I hate to bump threads, I think this needed such for the specifical attention of RionaEire and Kiki, who have both asked topical questions recently which directly relate to to the things discussed and addressed here.
