"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

You know PJ O'Rourke is a satirist, right? His most famous gig ever was at the National Lampoon.

Crikey, Wulfie - do you not know when you're being made fun of?

Quote:

Democrats hate success. Success could supply the funds for a power elopement. Fire up the Learjet. Flight plan: Grand Cayman. Democrats hate failure too. The true American loser laughs at legal monopoly on force. He’s got his own gun.

He just called YOU a true American loser, Wulfie. Democrats hate success? Yeah, that's why there was so much of it going around in the Clinton years, I guess...

Quote:

Democrats hate productivity, lest production be outsourced to someplace their beloved power can’t go. And Democrats also hate us none-too-productive drones in our cubicles or behind the counters of our service economy jobs. Tax us as hard as they will, we modest earners don’t generate enough government revenue to dress and adorn the power that Democrats worship.

Why is it the GOP's paymaster, the Chamber of Commerce, that's backing outsourcing and in favor of downsizing here at home? Because the GOP hates American workers, period. They always have.

Quote:

Democrats hate stay-at-home spouses, no matter what gender or gender preference. Democratic advocacy for feminism, gay marriage, children’s rights, and “reproductive choice” is simply a way to invade -power’s little realm of domestic private life and bring it under the domination of Democrats.

And again, I have to point out that Republicans hate all working people, anyone who has a job and wants to work. They want YOU to take the brunt of the tax burden so that the ultra-rich don't have to. And when they pass their inheritance down to their kids, they want to make sure those kids never have to work a day in their lives, either.

Quote:

Democrats hate immigrants. Immigrants can’t stay illegal because illegality puts immigrants outside the legal monopoly on force. But immigrants can’t become legal either. They’d prosper and vote Republican.

According to the Nevada GOP, legal immigrants shouldn't vote at all. They want to disenfranchise all Hispanics if given the chance. Republicans are the ones in favor of firing legal citizens to replace them with illegals, for which they can save a few bucks on their taxes. Your job is about to be outsourced to an illegal, Wulfie. Probably at home, too. ;)

By the way, what's your target date for repeal of the Patriot Act?

How about the closing of Gitmo?

How soon do you think those will happen if the Republicans win either house?

That *IS* what you're voting for, right? Isn't that what you mean by "right track"?

How soon do you think Congress will order all troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan?

That's not as crazy as it sounds.

The Pentagon came out in the last week or so and admitted that the earlier document dump on Wikileaks contained nothing that was detrimental to operational security, and nothing that put any coalition troops in harm's way.

So why did it all have to be "classified" in the first place, if there was nothing there? Simple: If it's classified, you can't know what's in there, and you can't even ask.

Now, by some *amazing* coincidence, there's suddenly evidence of WMD - when no such evidence was ever forthcoming before. How very convenient.

And of course, Wulfie outs himself as a full-on Republican by coming out claiming that Bush was right all along - even though Wuflie's lately been saying that we should be out of Iraq and Afghanistan altogether. And now he's trying to make Bush's case for invading in the first place, when there was never any such case.

Rather, the American system, we learn again, is intolerant of only one thing: intolerance. Whether its hammer comes from left or right, it always wakes the spirit of revolution. Freedom of speech, to dissent, to oppose, to fight back, is not just the literal content of the First Amendment. It is the essence of who we are as a people."

Except that there were never "hundreds of tons" of WMD found in Iraq, nor any active WMD programs. We found TRACES of long-inactive programs that we had already known about for a decade (we had to know about them, since Rummy still had the receipts from when Reagan had sold those goodies to Saddam in the first place!), and which had been shut down and dismantled for a decade as well.

And the only way you get to "hundreds of tons" is if you weigh a handfull of inert mustard gas shells by putting them on a train weighing hundreds of tons and then weighing the entire train and claiming that as the total weight of so-called "WMD".

Heck, by that rationale, a gram of pot in someone's house becomes TONS of pot - if you weigh the house and foundation as part of the drug packet!

Didn't we already do this one? We did, just a couple of days ago. And I debunked it then. This article is as clear as the other one posted that WMDs were found here and there in small quantities, but
Quote:

An initial glance at the WikiLeaks war logs doesn’t reveal evidence of some massive WMD program by the Saddam Hussein regime — the Bush administration’s most (in)famous rationale for invading Iraq.
If you think the article shows anything else, you're grasping at straws. It also states
Quote:

Remnants of Saddam’s toxic arsenal, largely destroyed after the Gulf War.

You guys are really desperate to prove Bush "right", when virtually everyone with a brain knows it was a fraud kicked up to start the war. Shees.

If you bothered to go to the link provided, you would have found
Quote:

When the United States invaded Iraq last year to disarm Saddam Hussein's regime, there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq or any facilities to build them.

Using the research of the 1,700-member Iraq Survey Group, Duelfer concluded that Saddam ordered his arsenal of chemical and biological weapons destroyed in 1991 and 1992 and halted nuclear weapons development, all in hopes of lifting crippling economic sanctions.

The findings were similarly definitive concerning chemical and biological weapons: "Iraq unilaterally destroyed its undeclared chemical weapons stockpile in 1991" and the survey team found "no credible indications that Baghdad resumed production."

Bush's spokesman said the report justified the decision to go to war. Campaigning in Pennsylvania, Bush defended the decision to invade.

"There was a risk, a real risk, that Saddam Hussein would pass weapons or materials or information to terrorist networks," the president said in a speech in Wilkes Barre, Pa. "In the world after Sept. 11, that was a risk we could not afford to take."

http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2004-10-06-wmd_x.htm

Hell, even Bush was admitting that there was no nuclear danger nor any SERIOUS chemical-weapons danger, he was just trying to defend the "risk". It's bullshit...you can't use instances of little things here and there to excuse that we invaded a country, thousands of people have died, and Iraq never posed a grave or growing danger. It's ridiculous, and grasping at straws.

By the way, "the Tea Party pulled us together"--yes, it pulled YOU together with a SMALL MINORITY of people who are frightened and angry, and seeking a target for same, and gave them a fantasy to believe in which would cure all ills. It will go nowhere, and while I recognize your neediness in wanting to believe some wonderful movement is afoot that contains all your fantasies of "the American Way", it's not going to happen.

Even if they should get into office, you will be sorely disappointed. That I can guarantee. And as for violence to get what you want, that's not going to happen either, it was politispeak to rile up their members...notice it's gone silent since they won nominations. It worked great for them then, getting out the vote to win their nominations, but it's not flying with the REST of American voters, so they shut up about it, as they have shut up about, modified and side stepped so many of their other extreme positions.

Some day, maybe, with luck, you'll wake up and see the real world. I hope it's not too long in coming, for your sake.

YEP! NO WMD PRODUCTION!

Wulf, you are stupid beyond belief! Here is my answer to the common topic which I posted on the other thread:

-----------------
Hero, you're a silly little boy for trying to rewrite history.

Everyone knew that Saddam had WMD.... from the mid 1980's. The joke of the day was... Of course we knew Saddam had WMD... we still have the receipts!. We had many long discussions on this board about which chemical weapons can survive heat and for how long (mustard gas is the only one). At the time I was personally involved in a civilian chemical WMD detection program, so I know the topic pretty well. Even the article which you, Wulf, Rappy etc point to as some sort of "justification" for this feckless invasion said

Quote:

An initial glance at the WikiLeaks war logs doesn’t reveal evidence of some massive WMD program by the Saddam Hussein regime — the Bush administration’s most (in)famous rationale for invading Iraq. But chemical weapons, especially, did not vanish from the Iraqi battlefield. Remnants of Saddam’s toxic arsenal, largely destroyed after the Gulf War...

What, none of you can read?

Wulf... do you need it in video form so it penetrates???

But shit, man, nobody is going to invade over 20-year old remnants of questionable potency, and that's not how Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and all of the rest of the troglodyte neocons billed the war. They said, outright, that not only did Saddam have WMD (neglecting to mention that these were decades-old WMD)...

but that he was MAKING MORE.

"There can be no doubt that Saddam Hussein has biological weapons and the capability to rapidly produce more, many more. Our conservative estimate is that Iraq today has a stockpile of between 100 and 500 tons of chemical weapons agent {potent and battle-ready-Signy} That is enough agent to fill 16,000 battlefield rockets." Colin Powell, 2/5/03

"Right now, Iraq is expanding and improving facilities that were used for the production of biological weapons."- George W. Bush 9/12/02

"We know that Saddam Hussein is determined to keep his weapons of mass destruction, is determined to make more.-Colin Powell, 2/05/03

"Evidence indicates that Iraq is reconstituting its nuclear weapons program. Iraq could have a nuclear weapon in less than a year." - Bush, 10/7/02

"I have no doubt we're going to find big stores of weapons of mass destruction."- Kenneth Adelman, Defense Policy Board , 3/23/03

"We know where they are. They are [deployed] in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad." - Donald Rumsfeld 3/30/03

"Iraq has got laboratories, mobile labs to build biological weapons."- Colin Powell

"We believe Saddam has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons." Cheney, 3/16/03

There's a lot more here:

www.americanprogress.org/kf/priraqclaimfact1029.htm

Now, I know facts generally don't penetrate the right-wing mindset. You are a group filled with fear, and belief in your leaders so powerful it causes you to forget what actually happened. But I DO hope you will take the time to refresh your memories this time, and come back to reality.

You firmly believe that the GOP, who was in the majority, are LIBERALS?! And you're VOTING FOR THEM AGAIN?! After all, it was the spending of THE GOP that nearly bankrupted and destroyed our nation, you utter fucking moron. More than 13 trillion in debt, all voted on by Republicans and signed into action by a Republican President. Trillions more in deficits and special-interest tax breaks, all endorsed, authored, and signed by REPUBLICANS.

So tell us all again, HOW is voting for Republicans going to STOP this kind of shit? They have been, historically, the absolute worst at this kind of spending.

That you think otherwise shows how deluded, blind, and just plain childishly stupid you really are, Wulfie.

But put some nuts behind your promises. Put a date on your claims. WHEN are you going to repeal this stuff?

What's the repeal date on "Obamacare"? Stand behind it. You've been whinging about all this stuff for years, and here's your big chance to make your stand and put words into action.

Are you too chickenshit to put your money where your mouth is?

Wulf, I'll bet you don't have a clue as to what RP is saying.

Austrian economics?
Prohibit use of force by individuals and government? (BTW, that should mean that RP is against the death penalty. He is. What about you?)
Keynes?
Bretton Woods?

BY THE WAY, RON PAUL WAS AGAINST INVADING IRAQ. So, where does that leave you?

One thing that RP does over and over again in this clip is conflate (the practice of treating two distinct concepts as if they were one) the natural right to life with economics. It's a mistake MOST Americans make: democracy= capitalism, unregulated markets = freedom. RP talks about the two ideas is if they're fused together, and as if they WERE fused together in the FF minds. But this is what they REALLY thought:

Quote:

The majority opinion {of the Supreme Court} is discovering corporate rights in a Constitution written by people with a dramatically different conception of corporate power and the limits thereof, and an understanding of citizenship as something based on accountability and membership in civil society.

... {But} Just after the Revolution, new state legislators had to decide what to do about these {corporate} charters. They could abolish them entirely, or find a way to democratize them and make them compatible with the spirit of independence and the structure of the federal republic. They chose the latter. So the first American corporations end up being cities and schools, along with some charitable organizations.

We don't really begin to see economic enterprises chartered as corporations until the 1790s. Some are banks, others are companies that were going to build canals, turnpikes, and bridges — infrastructure projects that states did not have the money to build themselves. Citizens petitioned legislators for a corporate charter, and if a critical mass of political pressure could build in a capital, they got an act of incorporation. It specified their capitalization limitations, limited their lifespan, and dictated the boundaries of their operations and functions.

I should add, too, that as part of this effort to democratize corporations, state charters specifically spelled out how shareholder elections were to be conducted to choose directors. Corporations were supposed to resemble small republics...

I read this opinion carefully — I'm trained as a historian, not a lawyer. Chief Justice Roberts lays out an ideologically pure view of corporations as associations of citizens — leveling differences between companies, schools and other groups. So in his view Boeing is no different from Harvard, which is no different from the NAACP, or Citizens United, or my local neighborhood civic association. It's lovely prose, but as a matter of history the majority is simply wrong.

Let me put it this way: the Founders did not confuse Boston's Sons of Liberty with the British East India Company. They could distinguish among different varieties of association — and they understood that corporate personhood was a legal fiction that was limited to a courtroom. It wasn't literal. Corporations could not vote or hold office. They held property, and to enable a shifting group of shareholders to hold that property over time and to sue and be sued in court, they were granted this fictive personhood in a limited legal context.

Early Americans had a far more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of corporations than the Court gives them credit for. They were much more comfortable with retaining pre-Revolutionary city or school charters than with creating new corporations that would concentrate economic and political power in potentially unaccountable institutions. When you read Madison in particular, you see that he wasn't blindly hostile to banks during his fight with Alexander Hamilton over the Bank of the United States. Instead, he's worried about the unchecked power of accumulations of capital that come with creating a class of bankers.

So even as this generation of Americans became comfortable with the idea of using the corporate form as a way to set priorities and mobilize capital, they did their best to make sure that those institutions were subordinate to elected officials and representative government. They saw corporations as corrupting influences on both the economy at large and on government — that's why they described the East India Company as imperium in imperio, a sort of "state within a state." This wasn't an outcome they were looking to replicate.

http://blogs.hbr.org/fox/2010/04/what-the-founding-fathers-real.html

You keep going to what you're comfortable with, but that just makes you stupider and stupider, not smarter and wiser. Look into the things you're NOT familiar with. Why don't you start by looking into RP's mention of Austrian economics (which BTW has nothing to do with the US Constitution!) and Keynes, and his stand on the death penalty and foreign invasions.

He's your hero, so you may as well try to understand what he's saying. Right?

You can dodge all you want, but the fact is the arsenal was largely destroyed, those WMDs found after the fact were a tiny bit here and there, and Bush spoke almost exclusively about a NUCLEAR threat, none of which was found.

Add to that the fact that Bush HIMSELF backtracked and said "intent" was as bad as "existence" where WMDs were concerned.

A tiny stash of (in some cases, useless) chemical weapons in no way exonerates the fact that no SERIOUS THREAT of WMDs was never found and never will be. Your entire premise is a joke, but you're clinging to the fact that "some" were found in an effort to prove your point.

Check the facts. Every article about Wikileaks' reports on these "WMDs" (which they actually aren't in reality, since you have to have a way to DELIVER a weapon for it to be of any use) agrees that it was a bit here, a bit there, some irrelevant, and that this huge "stash" and the "program" Bush convinced everyone was a valid reason to invade were long gone, destroyed after the Gulf War.

Nobody's twisting anything. We're quoting and citing the facts, and everywhere the facts show that the few WMDs represnt nothing like what Bush claimed existed. Get real...no, wait, I know that's not possible. Just go ahead and do your thing, nobody cares.

And he ran like a bitch, hid under a rock for a while, chug-a-luggin the koolaid, and then came back here to vomit it upon us at every opportunity.

Nor can you say I didn't try, even in the face of aggressive willful ignorance, plain flat out stupidity, and an apalling lack of both common sense, and any concept of cause and effect whatever - to what anyone in their right mind would call an extreme of patience.

He CHOSE to put on and zip up the jackboot, all else which follows is every bit his fault, whether his "side" wins, and he gets what's comin that way the instant he's no longer useful...

Either way, he's fuckin doomed, and it's his own damned fault, and call me what you will for this.

But I happen to be ENJOYING that thought, of his puling, whining ass being the VICTIM of what he would, without so much as a blink, inflict on everyone who did not act or believe exactly as he does, via a chain of obvious events that he is so blind to that I can say it right to his face and not have one iota of effect on his actions.

You remember that punk Daniel Bernstein from the original V miniseries (who, might I add, Wulfie seriously reminds me of) - and what *happened* to his ass ?

That's his future, either way, and he has no one to blame but himself.

You have NO interest in freedom; your interest is in having things the way YOU want them, period. You have no concept whatsoever of the responsibilities of freedom, in fact you have no concept of responsiblity at all.

Nothing you have ever claimed about yourself so arrogantly has anything to do with the real world, which we all recognize and for which some of us pity you. Well, actually, Fox News has taken up the Tea Party banner, who have claimed time and again that "they" speak for the majority of "true" Americans.

They claim that the country has fallen victim to lies emanating from the democratic camp. And these lies have lead "us" astray into the "wrong" direction. Obama and company have been blamed for the ills (and then some) that have happened in this country, up to and including the kidnapping of the Lindburgh baby.

Hell WMDs, Trillions of dollars loaned out to BIG Banks, skyrocketing health care costs, the immigrant "invasion," the Iraq War, unemployment, BP's oil spill, outsourcing, weak economy, terrorism, socialism, muslim invasion and the critically-panned-box-office-challenged Sex and The City 2 (yes, Dems are to blame for that too).

Did I miss anything? Well, I'm sure Tea Party goers will fill in the blanks. So will Fox News hounds [all the news that's fit to taint] who staunchly defend those who say the country has gone to hell in a hand basket ever since 1/20/09. We are a witness to living history here folks. Imagine, all the above-mentioned ills have been perpetrated within the 21 months that President Obama took office and the democrats took control of both houses. That's gotta be a record!

Mind you all this took place while the republicans fought the good fight to prevent such disasters. The Tea Party, of course, is the answer. The good ship USS America's course can only be corrected by such visionaries as Palin, O'Connell and Doug Hoffman. Ordinary folks striving to do extraordinary things - to put this country back on the "right" path.

Maybe we'll get back to work once the Tea Party manages to pass a law that will have "us" finally build that wall along the Mexican border.
That makes total sense; not only that but it will be visible from space (take that China!).
All the outsourced jobs, as well as our troops, will return to our shores. Insurance companies will see the light and relinquish their death grip on health care. All muslims will behave themselves, hispanics and other minorities will return to the motherland. Sex and the City 3 will be a box office phenomenom, the white house will be relocated to Alaska. All will be "right" with the world because everyone will "respect" us, or else.

And then God spoke....................

Well, ol' Joe Miller, the tea-bagging candidate from Alaska, says that building a wall absolutely worked out great for East Germany.

Of course, he also noted that East Germany no longer exists, so that might not bode so well for us...

It's always refreshing (if a bit disturbing) to hear tea-baggers state right up front what their REAL goals are* - especially when they hold up the shining examples places like China and East Germany as the examples of what we should do.

*I am, of course, reminded of Frem and his telling people EXACTLY what he's got planned, and them laughing him off as a kook.
