I'm not getting it. 2 years ago the Republicans lost big, lost about as big as they could--handing the Presidency to the most unlikely candidate running and giving the Democrats the biggest congressional majority in memory, and how'd they do it? By promoting this tired, transparent "maverick," faux-outsider, idiocracy = populism, we'll-keep-doing-everything-Bush-has-been-doing-only-we'll-call-it-something-else image of themselves while heavily pushing the ludicrous, preach-to-the-choir rebranding of the Dems as Marxist, Marxist, MARXIST!!11!!

And now, they're at it again. Absolutely nothing new, nothing we didn't hear 2 years ago, only now they've crystallized their pathetic rebranding in the form of the thoroughly co-opted "Tea Party." They have no one to run for President and all their most notorious candidates make Saracuda look like Winston Freakin' Churchill.

Far as I can tell they're doing exactly what they did last time expecting different results.

I don't get it.

Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Yep, the very definition of insanity...

But then, they've always been like that - "Stay the course" - even when it leads off a cliff.

Mostly cause they GOT nothin else, I might not be too fond of Obama, and even less of the Dems, but all they gotta do is be a couple smidges less repulsive and they have it in the bag.

That's what pisses me off the worst, that this lowers the bar for both sides...

We need higher standards, we need a fekkin example, yanno ?

You know, all the Economics Degrees in the U.S. don't mean squat. Left or right, the truth escapes them all.
How do you do a lot with a little?
Borrow, borrow, borrow, and hope it never catches up with ya.
Why are they repeating same 'ole, sane 'ole?
Because the TRUTH that America is becoming a Superpower-that-was hurts.
Telling the American peeps that their standard of living is gonna have to drop a few notches this coming decade and beyond ain't so good for elections. Fortunately, memory is short, and fantastical thinking abounds.
The PTB play on what we WANT to believe.

Couple things.

One, Republicans learned from the Obama/Dean playbook. They're running a full 50-state strategy. Why? Easy: Democrats are seen as vulnerable nearly everywhere, and Republicans have spare cash to spend (thanks to their friends the Koch brothers and the Chamber of Commerce and the Bank of Bahrain, of course).

Two, Democrats AREN'T running that strategy. Howard Dean is no longer party chair, so whatever worked before isn't seen as "new" anymore, and Democrats just don't have the kind of money behind them that they had two years ago.

Republicans don't win, democrats lose. I really think this is the dynamic, if there is one at all. The democrats are experts at losing. Republicans don't know what they're doing, but they end up with control of congress sometimes because democrats keep loaded guns pointed at their own feet.

The lines of both parties are very very tired. I don't think either side has said anything new in an election cycle in 50 years. At this point, I'd vote for almost anything else. I'd vote for the alien invasion.

Thank you for your input Mr Olbermann, your tinfoil hat is ready. Is this what you'll be saying at Jon Stewarts "down with America" rally?

The latest one to become hypocritical cliché is the chestnut about "government can't create jobs" and "government has never created a single job" (forgetting for the moment the entire military-industrial complex) - and then running FOR OFFICE (to work IN THE GOVERNMENT, in other words) on the platform that YOU'RE GOING TO CREATE JOBS! I love that one.

Funny that you call a rally dedicated to "restoring sanity" and civil discourse a "down with America" rally.
