Isn't law funny? I mean, if her Dad or any family member, killed the ones who parked the deathtruck in front of her house... THEY would be the ones to go to jail.

Y'know, I *get* where you're coming from, and what you're getting at, but are you sure you want to go down that road?

Do people have an inherent right to not be offended? If so, how far does it extend?

I think these people are despicable assholes, but I also have to come down on the side of free speech. Sorry. I think Frem will back my position on this, too.

Doesn't mean I can't have my own little celebration when THEY are dying, or that I can't party at their funeral.

But killing someone for being an unthinking asshole seems a bit harsh. I mean, hell, Wulfie, there are several people who think that about YOU, you know! And quite a few who think that about me as well.

So are you and I fair game for murder now?

Conversely, if you or I think we're being "bullied", do we have the right (might be just, but far from fair, after all) to track down and kill those who call us names here? I've had quite a few death threats, more than a couple calls for me to be banned outright; is this cyberbullying, or just people being asshats?

A small % of people are evil. It's the nature of the power structure that gives them the power to do greater evil. Hence, the system is evil, as a conduit. Bullying takes place when there's sufficient power structure, and that structure can be pretty small. I remember as a kid, a class of 12 was large enough for it to happen, but not a class of 5.

Anyone yet see "Let me in?" I saw the original, and I think the whole film as a comment on bullying was pretty interesting. I'm gnawing over whether to see the remake or wait for it on netflix.

I agree with Chris. I wish it weren't so, but I believe there are a small number of people in this world who are simply not slavageable, and need to just "not be". It's why I'm on the fence about the death penalty; it's wrong, but there seems no viable alternative sometimes.

Even tho' it costs more to put someone to death than it does to keep them in prison for life, my feeling is that I wish they were just "not", and it's a conundrum. My own personal fears I suppose ("what if they ever get OUT?!?!"), but that's how I feel.

But inherently evil? No. Perhaps some kind of brain anomaly in some, but I don't believe in "evil" as existing on its own. What to do with people who ACT evil, I'm not wise enough to decide. So thank goodness I don't have to make those decisions.

And now I gotta get my backside back downtown for the less pleasant part of the day, since they've decided to cover up the murderous misconduct which lead to the death of a local imam, and gave the usual spiel even WHILE in the middle of discussions with his family, as a deliberate, calculated insult...

Same one, Byte - they set him up with a plant trying to "donate" stolen goods (which he might not have known were stolen, certainly we can't ask him now) and the chain of events and autopsy report indicates they sicced the dog on him, then shot him while he was trying to protect himself from the dog - AND they shot first, before he even fired.

It's a mess, and of course the usual BS of letting the cops investigate themselves is worthless.

But enough of that...
