The September 28th, 2009 issue of Newsweek carries a most interesting story on how the killing of the F-22 by Congress represents a victory for elements in the Air Force championing unmanned aircraft. The story, written by Fred Kaplan, is titled, Attack of the Drones.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

This age of drone warfare is very exciting, as it limits our troops' exposure to danger.

On the converse, relying on drones is a bad idea. If any of our enemies ever becomes savvy enough to jam communications, we will have billions of dollars worth of useless hardware on our hands.

And here I was, NOT sayin that, but oh hell, why not...

Jam hell, with the right equipment you can take OVER one of those bastards, and our military has probably the most awful signals security I've ever seen in any modern army on the planet, made all the worse by a top down distribution chain instead of a functional radio tac net.

There's also the fact that these drones are made by the same contractors who build all the other shit which doesn't work worth a damn outside of a clean test environment, as evident by this little tidbit, which is a more common occurance than you'd think.

The only reason the military goons backin up the cops have any effect at all on protesters is due to a mutual parity of incompetence regarding signal and operational security, which would become a rather serious blow if our army ever tried to take on someone actually competent who we didn't outnumber so drastically with every advantage from the top down.
(And we're still not "winning", far as that goes)

And also, that's a game TWO can play, the little blue blimp you may see in the background of some of the G20 footage belongs to us, and is a portable observation platform for high resolution cameras, using a direct shielded cable rather than wireless connection.

It cannot be said enough, those who do not learn from history, are doomed to endlessly repeat it

The purpose of drones is not to protect US troops, but to increase the numbers of civilians massacred. 2.6-million genocided Iraqis is not a high enough death count by USA in the 19-year Iraq War.

It's easier to become a psychopath when you don't have to see the mangled corpses from your Easyboy Recliner. It's like giving a soldier a lobotomy of their conscience.

Drones performed perfectly on 9/11/2001 to attack USA. THAT'S the real advantage of Terminator drones. They make the best kamikaze pilots. Read Operation Northwoods.

"Listen. Understand. That Terminator is out there. It can't be reasoned with, it can't be bargained with...it doesn't feel pity of remorse or fear... and it absolutely will not stop. Ever. Until you are dead."

DREAMTROVE

Frem,

I was not saying that for years until it became obvious that no one was abandoning this, the dumbest plan of all time, and so I did say it, I think I posted it here two years ago.

The pentagon is infamous for its pathetic security, but the solution is simpler than that: just capture the guys who set the system up, and get the information yourself. They probably don't even have to torture the guys, just use their laptops with saved password information, which knowing our military security, was probably just "password" anyway

Well, newer versions of Windoze™, you have to use some upper-case, some lower-case, and a few numbers, so the usual password these days is "ABCabc123".
