I can see the illegal alien's point of view now.
The US used to have decent rules for amnesty, but we've been f^&king over people who seek asylum for some time now. 2007 we deported asylum seekers from Liberia on the grounds that their side had won the war, and they weren't in danger anymore. Of course, that's got all sorts of problems with it:

1. On a war like this, in a nation permanently at war, it's a little early to call it "over"
2. Their enemies are still armed to the teeth, batsh*t f^&king nuts and will still try to kill them.
3. A lot of these guys have been here for decades, have families, etc. They're Americans now, and forget the nightmares of sending kids to public school, try the thought of sending them to liberia.

The snag is this:

They can only deport the ones who actually sought asylum. A lot of them never did, they just snuck in, and are living off the record. So, if you're here illegally, no punishment. If you're here legally, you're going to randomly get screwed. Being deleted from govt. roles is probably a big advantage.

They are suing him for Civil Rights violations...which will get thrown out, and for assault, which will get a hearing.

My take is that is his land. There a common law doctrine that applies in this case:

'That land is his land'
'It is not their land'
'He's got a shotgun'
'and they aint got one'
'if they don't get off'
'he'll blow their head off'
'that land is private property.'

I don't know this guy, but as a rule the folks who own land along the border are all nuts. I think they like playing Sheriff Pusser and beating up on Mexicans. Otherwise, why the hell stay. Sell the land to the Govt. under eminent domain statute, and let the Feds deal with it.

And my reasons for that is despite what our politely airbrushed "history" taught in schools says, the Texans of the era were a buncha jerks.

BRAVE jerks, I'll give em that, but in the end, jerks.

And here, almost 175 years later, that remains as true now as it ever was then.

Happens to be one reason I don't have a lotta sympathy for them when they whinge about illegal aliens - read the link through and it might paint a somewhat clearer picture of why.
